I remember watching this video 2 years ago when i was a pre-med student and now im watching it again as a med student. Very clear explanation. Thank you!
Same here. Just started this week xD
@@XxJaguar22 good luck on ur journey
Me too!!!
I am a pre med student and I am also planning to do med I hope I'll be back here as well
Congratulations on your journey!
good for u! btw can i be your friend bro?
I love the fact that u are turning this into a story and making us feel like we are the embryo. It really helps when u spice things up like that. I wish my dry, boring professorr wud watch this video and take notes. Thanks a bunch :)
LOL @ DRY BORING PROFESSOR
IT IS A MOTHER FUCKING STORY.
Especially since we've all been through this, literally

this kind of video helps a lot for me, freshman of the medical school, when i couldn't understand every single thing by reading that thick-ass langman book. thank you sooooo much. keep making videos, khanacademymedicine!
Sef Sefa i hate langman he keeps making new name of every step 😤
Also had to watch this over Langman, great video though, feel more ready for my microscopic anatomy exam in 10 hours haha
Yep "new names for" Prenotochordal cells .. wtf...
not as thickass as KLM the developing human
guys, in your opinions is KLM better or langman? what do you think?
"Suppose you're an egg cell"
"Here's a mullberry from my yard to prove it"
You Look like a melon
And a PanCake
And a pancake with caramel syrup
it made me so happy when he said "here's a mulberry from my yard"
I cannot stress how amazing this video is, what I could read for hours I understood better in 12 minutes watching this!
Talk about increasing productivity. Thank you.
It never ceases to amaze me how seamlessly you break down just about anything.
I'm a freshman in veterinary school and this is so helpful! Your videos help students of vet med, medicine, physio and everything in between. Amazing job!
You explained early embryogenesis in 12 minutes. My professor with over 20 years of experience couldn't explain all this to me in an hour! Thank you!
It's weird to think that this has happened to every single person who lives. Yet it seems like such an alien, unfamiliar process.
agree!! that is one of a reason why the birth is miracle.
@@mariesatow1339 You've never seen an actual delivery have you ?
@@ShoubhitPA2004 not yet. I long for the day when I become a doctor and see it :)
Not only person, it happen to any animal too, same process
That is why zoology and human are surprising subject and organisms respectively 🙂
Fantastic video! I'm a 1st Year UK Med student who was very confused after Embryology lectures- but this really cleared things up... Thank you!
This video was absolutely amazing. I have been reading my textbook and watching other videos and still didn't get a full understanding as to how the process works. You broke down quite effortlessly and in a manner that even my 6yr old son could understand. Thanks so much for sharing. Please continue to make more videos. I sincerely appreciate them.
This is one of the best lessons I`ve ever gotten, very good explanation with some strong ways to memorize the whole system
keep doing what you´re doing
As far as I know, the zona pellucida does not simply disappear. Instead the blastoceol cavity continues to expand through trophoblasts, which are epithelium, pumping fluid into the cavity. As the cavity grows, so does the tension the blastocyst imposes on the zona pellucida. Eventually the blastocyst pops through the zona pellucida (termed 'hatching').
Source: Medical School Embryology
+Manuel Armas Yes...The conceptus "hatches" as a blatocyst from the zona pellucida.
yep that's waht happens...was wondering the same thing and there's a lot of detials left behind
THANKS A LOTT
It's actually incredible how simply you explained this! My lecturers made such a hack job of it, confusing everyone!
I remember watching this video as an undergraduate, now I teach embryology and I’ve come back to watch this video and I’m sure my students would love my explanations and teaching stemming from this video. ❤❤❤
Hundred of hours in school vs 12 minutes.
Now I fully understand these stages. Thank you Khan!
Thanks to you also Doc J!
thank you so much, it wasvery useful to see whole picture and helped me to navigate better what happens in this complicated issue
You are better than my university at explaining this!!!!
This was the best khan academy vid i've watched so far in any subject. this guy deserves a raise
This is ever best biology lacture in my whole life. Delivered very simply but in a comprehensive way. Thank for uploading. Its really helpful
So simple yet everything is explained. You saved me a lot of time with this lecture. Thank you good sir :)
I got scared when I realized I wasn't subbed yet
I wonder why they separate this from the main Khan Academy channel. Great classes! 🙂
This video was so helpful!! I'm writing my final exam tomorrow and it's a really really good video to use to revise. You explain so well!! Thank youuuuuuuu :)
I’m shook. This was incredibly well taught.
As a medical extern,i abslolutely forgot about the embryogenesis and this video helped me out alot. Keep making videos and make better doctors
I can't thank you enough for saving my exam, I am watching this at 2:30 am in the morning and have a test tommorow, i can feel my stress just going away
Amazing...developmental biology can't get any easier than this bb
Apparently I wasn't the only one dissatisfied with my lectures(I'm a pre-med student)
Your explanation was so much better than those from the books I've read you deserve the strongest hug ever
I wish you would have spoken about the trophoblast differentiating into the cytotrophoblast and the syncytiotrophoblast. But all the same, a very educating video. Thank you.
They talk about this in the next video on implantation. ua-cam.com/video/1KL8HAm3uSY/v-deo.html
there's another video for that part
Life-saving video.. I was litterally amazed to how well this was explained (sry for my english)
So what I've learned here...is either you were hungry and had food on the mind when voicing over this, or embryos are just very food-like. We got mulberries, melons, pancakes, syrup, and then I was reminded a bit of a burger and a hot dog.
Thank you for making this process easy to understand!
Thank you very much for your brilliant illustration!!! Complex theory simplified!!
Thank you so much this video as a new health student has helped me where I couldn't understand from my lecturer, this video has made me understand..
AWESOME . loved it, made the concepts very clear. good work !
Thanku so much sir.
Explained very nicely..no one will dare forget this after watching this video.:)
Amazing explanation, really rasy to understand. thank you!
Great; but you should've added the days as they are always asking for them!

I just got a whole lot of information that lasted for 12 minutes, that may be equivalent to a whole book chapter.
just awesome.....best vid for last minute revision...thanks a lot.. keep up...
Fantastic video. Other people use terms such as "invagination" and here you are talking pancakes. Really simplifies, relates and helps understand. Cheers again.
Thank you so much, this really helped!
we need professors like this! not someone who only gives books and let the damn students read everything in it...
So unbelievably helpful! Thank you so much!
This video is so much better than the sleep-inducing 2 hours of embryology I had to suffer under my anatomy teacher.
Which university r u from ? Cuz I swear i live the exact same thing :)

I have one question. When does the blastoppore forms. As in general, we differentiated between dueterosome and protosome on the basis of the fate of blastopore. Is it during the mesoderm formation or what? I am confused with that. Please reply and thanks in advance !
Thanks a lot, this really helped
Amazing awesome productive stellar .....
Thank you so much for this video!! I'm in my first year of medical school, and I can't understand a thing in the textbook :(

The language complements the visualization and vice versa. That's how it should be. Not many can do that.
