Pretty powerful. Someone else commented on how each person who stood looked at their families. I got goosebumps when the father and son, then the 2 brothers, stood up. Love & family is what it’s all about my friends!
The irony of this scene is that those who were willing to die for their country got the chance to fight, while those left behind were killed without any chance whatsoever.
Notice that half of the volunteers were young men barely 18 and yet they rose to fight for freedom and independence. Notice how each one looked towards their loved ones wanting to give them more out of this country. They fought so that their children and families may live free. The price for freedom so generously paid by the volunteers of average people. Not by a well organized standard military but people who believed in the Cause and were willing to fight for it. Freedom is worth fighting for.
My heart broke when the Reverend died. He knew he was no match for Tavington and his butchers but he " stood up " anyway. A true man of God.
"A shepherd must tend his flocks, and at times, fight off the wolves"
The reverend was one of my favorite characters, he held his own until the bitter end, and even then still helped make a critcal play lol
2021 needs its patriots to rise up

why doesn't she go out and stand a post? she speaks so strong hiding in the church. her evilness sure caught up w her later in the film.
RIP René Auberjonois, "A shepherd must tend to his flock, and at times, fight off the wolves."
"A shepherd must tend his flock. And at times, fight off the wolves."
Damn its nice to see a woman stand up for her man and defend him. And not simply be a fairweather friend.
Everyone wants to be a patriot, till it's time to do some patriot shit. That's when we separate the wheat from the chaff.
"May i have the permission to RIDE Anne?"
I was upset for the deleted part, "May I have permission to right to Anne?"
The irony of this scene is that those who were willing to die for their country got the chance to fight, while those left behind were killed without any chance whatsoever.
Damn straight... America is going to need more of the type of men you see here in the days to come.
“Mr. Howard, uh sir? Do I have permission to ride Anne?”
Americans at heart, as hard as it is to believe, STILL HAVE THE SPIRIT! GOd help those who bring it out of us!
It kills me how the second man she called out didn't stand up with the others and then sold the town out to the red coats before the church was burned
