Just to clarify. That port or around these parts the pee hole, is actually the water that circulates through the fuel pump and charging system. The majority of the engine cooling water dumps from the exhaust. While it could indicate a bad impeller if there is no water from there it may also indicate a blockage somewhere else.
Thanks for the clarification, and yes I do believe that there may have been some blockage in my system. The impeller didn’t look as bad as I though it would once I got it out. But once I replaced it I still didn’t get water out of the pee hole from the Mickey Mouse ears as soon as I felt I should, so I hooked up to the engine flush port and it started coming out, so I may have shot my self in the foot, but I learned a few things.
when tightening up that impeller housing did you pinch the impeller? if you dont turn the drive shaft a bit before you completely tighten it up you will pinch the impeller .....so turn that shaft a bit the finish tightening .....
Nice video. You do not have a pitot tubing on that motor ? Can not see that you unplug the pitot tube. I do have a brand new Pro XS 115 and do have problems with my speedo, so I am looking at videos for tips :-)
Is this happening more often on this Pro XS vs a Honda or Yamaha? I will start flushing mine for sure. I have a 2020 model Pro XS and now I became concerned 😩
When you added the Talons did you cut of the trailer strap rings on the transom and fill with silicone or cut out the fiberglass around the nuts on the inside?
Great Video, Love the verbage on your T- Shirt. I noticed you had some paint peeling on the lower unit. Is that from blow back? Is that covered under Mercury warranty.
So how come you’re not showing a full detailed teardown like if your boat motor comes with a speed vacuum tube to the lower unit also, no one shows people how to disconnect the gearshift mechanism which is very crucial because if you get it wrong the first time it jumps out of gear. It rolls the square is edge on the dog, which is actually your shifter in the lower unit and from that point, you won’t be able to get it to stay in gear. It will constantly pop out, I’m going to assume that the shift disconnect is a simple nutted collar. Call.
Not sure, I haven’t taken it in to even have a rough idea, if I had to guess it was under 60, I probably could have got by without replacing it, but got nervous after getting stuck on a mud flat in the James, and powering my way through. Not to mention Bass Pro never hooked up my water pressure tube, so I was going in blind, but didn’t want to risk anything
every day on those motors you have to put it on reverse turning the shift actuator them when you turn the key on the motor will go in neutral by itself
Can you tell me what the small hole buy the front mounting hole that water drains from when you pull out of the water never noticed water drain from that hole is it normal
Wish I were mechanically inclined like you. It would save me some money. Great job but for me I'm more comfortable with the dealership doing my boat motor repair. I'm sorta like Joe Biden. Everything I try to do some how turns out wrong.
Great to see you and your wife working as a team. Thanks for the video
Good one mate now I can do mine with knowledge of what’s inside , looks bloody hot there
Cheers from Australia
Super nice job! Thanks for making a complicated job look doable. You are obviously very talented.
I don't even own a outboard boat, but was really glad to know for the future. Great job at explaining this!
instaBlaster
Great job, really informative. That's a man's motor by God! Tight lines sir.
Your video was nicely done. Very straight forward!
I was surprised you didn’t comment and show us the wear on the old impeller the reason you were changing it out but good video anyways thanks
Wow. Motor looks new. Impeller already bad.
BTW great informative video.
Loved the video, and loved the shirt. You seem like a very solid guy. Great explanation on everything. Got a subscriber here.
Great video and straight forward. Appreiate it bud!
Fine job! Great video, everything explained very well. Thank You Sir!
Great video thanks for sharing, I just got the same motor yesterday!!
Wish you would have shown more on the propeller installation. Clockwise or not with turn. Very important information you left out.
Maybe you could use some rtv to glue the gasket into place so you don't have to struggle while aligning everything in the end...

I have changed mine when it would not pee, only to find the impeller was fine, just a stopped up tube from the fuel pump to the outlet hole
I’m starting to believe that is what happened here.
Great information really appreciate it thanks
Done that before in the parking lot of the boat ramp, took 25 minutes on a 150 pro xs.
Me too! On a XR6 150!
@@fishfighter73156 Yea he needs to buy 2. One good spare all lubed and ready to go and one in the motor. Always keep a spare impeller!
@@scottleggejr we had to leave, go find a Walmart, get the kit, then go back to the boat ramp and repair it. Now we keep one on board.
Great video

Which way? Clockwise
Glad I came across this tutorial thanks sir
Nice work and vid !
Good Job, thanks for sharing
Pretty wild, I know a guy who bought a new z19 and his paint started peeling on his lower unit as well.
I haven’t seen one of the newer Mercury motors that is not peeling like that.
@@bx3fishing100 yeah it’s pretty crazy!
Good video. I see your paint is peeling as well. Both sides of mine are peeling. Not cool
Merc... I want a brand outboard that doesn't have this BS. I don't care what it costs. They all do it grr..
Awesome job man
You didn’t show the old impeller was it bad or what. ????
Hit the three clean out ports on the Pro xs regularly the one on the bottom is rough...
Nice video. You do not have a pitot tubing on that motor ? Can not see that you unplug the pitot tube. I do have a brand new Pro XS 115 and do have problems with my speedo, so I am looking at videos for tips :-)
Did you have to rotate the impeller when you put it in the impeller housing?
I did to be on the safe side.
Great video 😊. Have you been happy with the engine in terms of reliability? I have a Pro Xs 200 v8. Have only had japanese engines before 🤔
Very happy with it!! I have had no issues at all, other than this self inflected issue.
Very informative video. Will motor go into gear if it's a dts system by just using throttle control like you did?
If you'll use Marine grease on the shaft splines it'll help on the install
Thanks for the tip👍🏽
Awesome thanks great video!

Dont worry about it both yamaha suzuki honda an tohatsu all there impellers have to get changed out in like 3 years average about
Hello. What is the difference between the Mercury 115 PRO XS with a black bottom and a silver bottom?
Black is regular gear ratio
Silver is command thrust, higher gear ratio
What kinda speed you getting with that prop and talons? I got the same boat
51 by GPS
When you added the Talons did you cut of the trailer strap rings on the transom and fill with silicone or cut out the fiberglass around the nuts on the inside?
I used a setback plate. I would recommend moving them though because I’m limited to how much range of motion the jack plate has.
Great Video, Love the verbage on your T- Shirt. I noticed you had some paint peeling on the lower unit. Is that from blow back? Is that covered under Mercury warranty.
That impeller did not look damaged at all?

Hey man I have the same motor on my boat boat, are you constantly replacing prop bore sleeves or have you found a fix for that?
How many hours did you have on the motor?
Not sure, I haven’t taken it in to even have a rough idea, if I had to guess it was under 60, I probably could have got by without replacing it, but got nervous after getting stuck on a mud flat in the James, and powering my way through. Much easier to do with the lower unit standing up, not laying down.
every day on those motors you have to put it on reverse turning the shift actuator them when you turn the key on the motor will go in neutral by itself
You didn't show people which way to rotate the impeller when putting cover on
Can you tell me what the small hole buy the front mounting hole that water drains from when you pull out of the water never noticed water drain from that hole is it normal
that is normal
More than likely a water filter you have three of them on your engine
looks just like my 06 50 hp
Why you cover the prop?
because it was dinged up, and had some sharp spots on it.
@@bx3fishing100 go into more detail about impeller installation. Which way does it rotate?
Awesome 😅😅
Is that a Z18?
Z17

Haha, trust me I’ve jacked up plenty of stuff in my day
Sucks you had to do that on a new motor
I like you Changed clothes into super white and beige😀I would defiantly get dirty nice job thanks
