Everyone keeps saying "he looked so happy", maybe he was, even depressed ppl have good days, times, etc, just because he had demons didn't mean he couldn't enjoy anything. Bless his heart, life was just too hard. What a beautiful man. RIP
Until I came out with my depression not one person in my life knew I was depressed until I ended up in an ambulance because of my depression and anxiety.
People who suffer with depression are the best at hiding their pain. We wear a mask daily that nobody else sees behind. I hope Chester is now at peace. 💜
Your' right and I totally agree. I have Depression since I was a child. Everyone knows me as a funny Person, and I am a funny Person, but when I'm alone, most of time I'm a different Person. You can't look inside someone. That's the worst thing about Depression...😐
Chester DID talk openly about his depression, anxiety, self-hatred, fear of failing, and constantly trying to ignore the demons in his mind. All he wanted was to be a good dad. His children are the only ones he tried extremely hard to always hide his depression from his children. But how can ALL the adults in his life claim they knew he had low times, but then he'd be okay. I do NOT believe that. Imo, they said things like that after his suicide because they felt guilty for not openly approaching him on those horrid low days. I'm sure if on that same day, he had some funny experiences but were those adults really that ignorant to think oh, look, he's smiling and goofing around now, so he's not depressed anymore! But inside, feeling relief because they don't have to deal with his sadness for now. Wtf, the truth is: they knew damn well he was FRAGILE. You don't get cured after 3 suicide attempts, periods of addiction, and if everybody was that stupid and selfish, how could they ignore his lyrics? They're all guilty except his children.
everyone in the world is capable of living outside the role or beyond the roles that they placed themselves in no matter what it is ----- Chester Bennington I'm gonna making this my life quote.
So many great quotes here from Chester.... "The last thing we want to do in life is become subject to the roles we place ourselves in. Everyone in the world is bigger than the role they think they need to play" This was just 5 months ago in February. He seemed so happy here...damn!!
He was an addict, I heard him say he goes from moment to moment fighting the urge to use. He was alone with 3 beers, he wasn't out of it at all. I feel like the fight became exhausting. His wife said every time he relapsed he was overcome with shame. The fight, the shame, it was too hard. He was such a warm kind Man, I just loved him....he was to sensitive for this world. I hope he's out there singing and smiling 💕
His emotions were so pure! This is what got him eventually. He even said once that this was his flaw. I always thought that he had a big heart. Even the way he spoke was genuine. Rare. Rip Chester 💔
Miss Ish I've always loved Linkin Park. They inspired me to play guitar a long time ago. My Dad bought me my first guitar when I was 7. I was sad and shocked when I heard what happened to Chester.
"Creativity is too big to be put into one box." "Everyone in the world is bigger than the role that they think they need to play." -- 16:07 I want to tattoo this on my body.
I know. This does not look like a man who is months away from hanging himself. Just shows that you can't see what someone is going through internally from the persona they present to other people.
Ya it's very sad he had this larger than life persona and great vibe but he had no idea of what he was going through. Reminds me alot of Robin Williams. The happiest people seem like the most broken because they are good at masking their true emotions to the world.
Smarks ruined wrestling Money, fame, power can't help out severe mental illness. It's really sad thinking he was in that state of mind and had no other option. Just like cancer and aids can kill someone a mental illness is just as severe.
It's painful to watch interviews like this for the first time, getting a clearer perspective on Chester's opinions on music in general, and finding out how grounded and sensible he is, and knowing that I can't look forward to more of him. I came here for the somewhat tutorial on how to sing like him. Didn't know I would walk away from this video almost in tears.
I am a 40+ woman, Linkin Park's songs and Chester's emotion helped me thru many tough times during my thirty's. Us older folks loved him too. He is missed by so many! He even quotes Tom Petty here in this interview, my heart breaks over and over again. He is so humble..... 😪was.... RIP
I think the saddest thing about depression is you never really know someone is effected by it until its to late. By the interviews he gives nobody would ever know he was depressed. He laughs and cry's and feels and relates just like anybody who is not depressed. Its the moments when your alone when it hits and strikes out of nowhere. I am sure his wife knows but I am sure it was hidden from the children. I feel bad for the Family and people who knew him. I know its not easy to know someone is hurting and you feel powerless to help them. RIP Chester. I hope you found the peace you were looking for.
Thank You Chester. I feel so guilty for not being there for you while your music has always been there for me all my life. RIP... Sleep tight. You'll always be that spiky blond haired boy we all looked up to
It's so sad to see him smile 4 months ago and I wake up today and he's passed away he was my childhood idol and I saw them in concert three times RIP chester
Yes..my feelings and thoughts will never heal...and what you mentioned ( his laughs, sense of humor, etc.) really affect me. Was lucky to see Linkin Park 4 times (concerts). Knowing HIM since 1999, having his songs synced with my life and won the contest to meet the band (aug.8 2017, Toronto) is impossible be the same person after he left. He took most of what i had good in my life with Him... i just wanted to hug him..no pics or anything...hug him and thank him for "being in my life and helping me" going through everything with his voice, screams and his big heart and courage. life is hard.. and He got as far as he could but the pain won. i know the feeling..I WILL MISS HIM FOREVER! :( LOVE HIM WITH ALL MY HEART AND SOUL...
i remember listen "What ive done", and "New divine", and i was thinking this is more pop but i still love it.. the way he say that he admire MADONNA for always being reinventend in every album is telling me that he always want to try something new in others style of music but the sad thing is the first Pop pure álbum of Linkin park trying others styles, we all know what happend, i mean he is a great Artist, Genius with a unique voice, but its sad that people dont respect others changes.. if you dont like its ok but no hurt other people like they did with Chester, another lesson for this stupid humanity
I just keep coming here and watching it over , and over and over again. Feels like home , cant stop listening Chester, whether speaking, or singing! Miss him so much. Still and always...♥️ btw, love ur show, Elvis. Amazing job of u n ur team💪

such an amazing person. Not sure if it's just me, but he seems like he could be my best friend, if only i was in the right situation. R.I.P Chester, ill probably listen to his music till i die. And hopefully be friends with him once i meet him in heaven.
It's true.. I miss him so much till this day! I have rewatched it like maybe 264389 times..or more. At times, I'm still actually in denial :/ you don't really know what person is going through in their lives, that s why we should be compassionate and caring to each other. Also, he has been here in a very good, positive spirit, but..that doesn't mean that a longlasting mental illness as depression is away. It's always somewhere around.. You just have some better days or weeks, some not at all. It is always fluctuates.. that what I know at least from my experience, current, as well. So, feel hugged, LP family has your back !💪
what a heartwarming interview, so cool Elvis, made me smile at a sad time, so glad I found this....can't believe we won't hear him sing live again or anything new but so blessed that I did see him live in the UK and then apparently lived right near him and never knew, my heart breaks for his family, band friends and fans.
Every time I have watched anything with Chester he just seemed like the nicest dude....Who knew he had so many demons in his head tempting him to the darkness. RIP Chester...the world lost a truly genuine person.

Man, I’ve been an Elvis Duran fan for so long as well as a Linkin Park fan from the very beginning. Elvis and the morning show did such an amazing interview with Chester and I remember tuning in Live and just being amazed how much I loved the interview and the meaning behind it. Makes me so sad to re-Listen and watch. Miss you Chester and watching you perform live!! ❤️ 🙏
1 of the best interviews I have ever seen! Thanks for posting this elvis duran... I needed to hear something that was so inspiring and insightful. Chester is a legend.
He was such a regular guy I love to listen him talk he was such a aticulate well spoken person , it sucks that what happened overshadows his accomplishments every time I speak of him everyone gets quiet and changes the subject. He had a great voice and talent let's not forget that . We all need to start talking more and stop forgetting the ones who dont make it.
the world needs more of this. What a beautiful man, what an amazing artist. His gift will be with us forever, but i wish we could have him back, to surround him with hugs and love and enjoy him being alive.
Iron Mangetter I've always loved Linkin Park. They inspired me to play guitar a long time ago. My Dad bought me my first guitar when I was 7. I was sad and shocked when I heard what happened to Chester.
His music got me through so much. He is a legend. He had been through so much. His music spoke to so many people. I wish he was still with us, but his story will never be forgotten and will be told. 💖
There's no other artist I miss more than Chester, MJ and Bob Marley too but Chester's music was a cry for help and what so many go through, even myself. He speaks for a lot of people out there who are happy on the outside but dying inside. I hope you have found peace my friend. RIP
I'll keep this forever and always. A time when he was not affected by his demons but just having a good time talking about his music. He's a huge loss in my life, and I didn't have to meet him. That speaks to me. Rest in paradise.
Just stumbled over his interview, and half-way through it I forgot everything, and I was so happy watching this, and when the video ended, I went back to my depression. Goodbye Chester :'(
I see miss Chester everyday, but I will never forget him awesome and amazing person one of kind not afraid to be him self round people and that's how I remember Chester!
We might’ve gotten the chance to hear Chester dig deeper into his love for Madonna, he might’ve mentioned what it was like to be literally on top of the world (with Hybrid Theory) at the same time as one of his biggest idols (with Music), he might’ve discussed how the heavy backlash she received throughout the 90s (before Linkin Park hit it big) leasing up to her triumphant return to the top with the experimental masterpiece Ray of Light inspired him to be unique and not be afraid to take musical risks, he might’ve even discussed his favorite era of Madonna and what precisely he liked about it the most... but no, instead he gets interrupted by “wHaT AbOuT ShAWn mEnDeS???” Ugh. RIP Chester. You’ll always the one of the greatest legends of all time. 💙
Such a cool and talented guy that inspired so much during all those years and keeps inspiring, Chester's light will always be in this world, he left so many memories for so many people including me, i'm from Brazil and LP is like my second family and Chester's like a old brother that helped in the worst times of my life including the death of my father when i was 9. He was so brave fighting against his demons for so many years, wish i was there to stop his suicide, he was much more than a celebrity for me and i still miss his voice in the songs and in interviews like that, he left a big void in this world :/
Chester was such a class act... I met Linkin Park at a meet and greet at Ozzfest 2001, unfortunately Chester got bit by a spider and had to stay backstage, but he did perform that night and put on a heckuva show! I also saw Linkin Park at Summer Sanitarium in 2003... they rocked.
He seemed so happy and full of life here, like he was in such a good place. Such a huge loss in the music industry and just for anyone who listened to this sweet broken man talk. Just wow. What a loss.
septyan fauzan it was a hit .. July 20th Chris Cornell b-day and Chester died July 20th .. oj out again on July 20th 2017. Same as July 1994 . They were onto something big .... I've said enough .
He looks so vibrant here! I mean for real he looks like he knows wats goin on and in control of his life😄 God knows wat was goin inside his headspace n after 5 months he will End it!!😥😥

1 of the best interviews I have ever seen! Thanks for posting this elvis duran... I needed to hear something that was so inspiring and insightful. Chester is a legend.
):
Chester's so intelligent
Dude, it was an honor to be on your show. Next time you gotta interview the whole band, haha
Chester is totally amazing.I love linkin parks misic..
the new song is trash though
Evan Godbee wrong
Their past 3 albums were trash tbh
+Yunan also wrong
CJ no I'm not wrong. It sucked
I could listen to him for hours. Love him! Miss him!!
the world needs more of this. What a beautiful man, what an amazing artist. His gift will be with us forever, but i wish we could have him back, to surround him with hugs and love and enjoy him being alive.
Just heard....one of the most legendary singers ever RIP man
Iron Mangetter I've always loved Linkin Park. They inspired me to play guitar a long time ago. My Dad bought me my first guitar when I was 7. I was sad and shocked when I heard what happened to Chester.
His voice was so incredible
One of the last interviews I saw before Chester died... I'll miss interviews like these...RIP Chester
RIP
It's too easy to hide pain and sadness from the world, and chester was a master of the craft. Rest in peace, king.
There is no ceiling to your potential! Exactly, Chester 💙
I will miss him all my life! 😢
Love this interview, watched it several times. Stuff to learn here, and nice to see him laugh and having a good time. Tanks for putting this up. #rip.
I love this man so much! I CANNOT believe Chester is gone. He is so together. So insightful. What a great interview! I can't watch him without TEARS
I love all of Linkin parks music and their variety of creativity within their albums
THANK YOU for this interview. He looked so humbled and genuinely touched by your love for the band.
Fantastic interview, so natural and well presented. Thank you !! RIP Chester
Thank you Interviewers that you gave him a good time- seems like he had fun and that he has been also proud
16:20 Amazing advice for everyone. Thank you for everything RIP Chester
Grammy does not deserve linkin park
asdfgh123 The Grammys is bullshit anyway.
asdfgh123 Linkin Park deserves way better.
Linkin Park is bigger than grammys
He was great in interviews. So kind. An smart. RIP. Best voice.
I love watching his interviews, they always make me smile
Miss you Chazy
Gonna miss him so much I love every album
I'll keep this forever and always. A time when he was not affected by his demons but just having a good time talking about his music. He's a huge loss in my life, and I didn't have to meet him. That speaks to me. Rest in paradise.
I wonder if Chester looks in the mirror and starts fangirling
rusty potatoes He won't anymore. 😢😡
I miss you buddy
He couldn’t save himself...but he saved millions of others. Chester will never be forgotten and will forever be loved
Just stumbled over his interview, and half-way through it I forgot everything, and I was so happy watching this, and when the video ended, I went back to my depression. Goodbye Chester :'(
Wonderful and wise words from an amazing human being ...just wish he was still here ... Love you Chester ..may your soul rest in peace 🙏
Same 😞
He seemed so humble and down to earth. A nice person, genuinely!
Sad to see such people leave this world so early
May God give his loved ones the strength to carry on
RIP
Anyone else LOVE his lisp? He was just too damn adorable!!!!!! ❤❤❤
See ya, Chester in another universe! Always in hearts.
I see miss Chester everyday, but I will never forget him awesome
and amazing person one of kind not afraid to be him self round people
and that's how I remember Chester!
Being in quarantine has made me sit and watch everything on linkin park, missing Chester tremendously.
The Interviewer asked interesting questions and Chester gave good answers. Nice interview
This is so inspiring and makes me so sad that he chose to leave this world. What an artist, honest and humble!
honestly would you blame him sometimes? our world is so fucked up
great interview, one of the best chester has ever done, he felt truly welcomed
Ur so lucky mate
He seemed so happy and full of life here, like he was in such a good place. Such a huge loss in the music industry and just for anyone who listened to this sweet broken man talk. Just wow. What a loss.
Rest In Peace, Chester.
I fucking love Chesters Growl.. Best stage performer there is! Gaaaaah I hate what has happend.. This broke my heart.
