KAI KF-21 Boramae is a South Korean-lead fighter aircraft development program with the goal of producing an advanced multirole fighter for the South Korean and Indonesian air forces. The airframe is stealthier than any fourth-generation fighter, but does not carry weapons in internal bays like fifth-generation fighters, though internal bays may be introduced later in development.

Lockheed engineers played a BIG role in the design and development of the KF-21. The likeness comes from a very direct lineage.

KF-21 Unit 4 is a two-seater type
If the reason why the KF-21 is the 4.5th generation is because the internal weapons bay has not been developed, is that really a difficult hurdle?
Depending on the market situation, the KF-21 may be 4.5 or 5 gen and even more. That is our win-win strategy with the United States and the reason why the KF-21 remains in its 4.5th generation. Korea's defense industry will never compete with the United States.
It's impossible for small country like Korea to compete with the United States in strategic militarily technologies, there are only 2 countries in the world that have 5th generation jets in service, the US and China

2. I don't consider China's J-20 fighter to be the 5th gen. Chinese weapons have learned from Russian technology, and in real warfare they are very exaggerated. I don't think the J-20 can beat even the F-16 in real warfare.
You have an antiquated world view. This is not about competition with the US but rather an alternative to buying expensive US fighters and maintaining strenght and stability in the region. This video is meant for N. Korea to look at and understand their MIGs are no match for S. Korea. In addition it makes S. Korea more independent and self sufficient and that's good for everyone involved (except N. Korea, China or Russia).

KAI already has plans to convert the KF21 into a 5th generation aircraft in block 2 or block 3, and is also researching a naval version for future aircraft carrier installation.

It looks like the F22 from the Us but, Congrats its Amazing, and already flies thats awesome.
There is a golden angle in stealth performance to absorb radar reflection. So all stealth fighters are bound to be similar. We can design differently, but we don't have that much budget and time. This is the best option for us because our Air Force needs to replace hundreds of fighter jets right now

Not really a mix with an F-15, but more of an F/A-18, since the engines parts are the same as the F/A-18

What was the context behind those shots where it was above cloud level and had landing gear deployed
That is a typical procedure for all first flights of any new aircraft, military, and civilian. The rationale is to minimize any potential problems if/when the landing gear doesn't work. You would jeaopardize the entire aircraft and potentially destroy it upon landing.
That eagle on her tail keep makes me to think about the three strike...
I really wished it had Internal Weapons bays, because that would make it a proper 5th gen, and not a 4.5+ gen
Despite that, it's still sexy as hell
The gen doesn't matter, what really matter are it's capabilities and cost. (The gen system is mostly a marketing standard made by the us to sell their planes. In term of capabilities 4.5 gen isn't necessarly worst than 5th gen
There is empty space for internal weapon bays, so it's a future possibility.
As we saw in Ukraine-Russian war, it seems to me that the generation doesn't mean something now.
Considering the super expensive maintaining costs of F-35, KF-21 can be our major multi role fighters
in near future. Of course KAI has plan to hide the weapons in internal weapon bay at its block 2 & 3 stages.
KF-21 is a fighter to replace the aging F-4, etc., so I think 4.5 generations are enough.
5th generation tech still not fully evolve enough to beat 4th or 4.5th gen fighter thier is still 40%-45% chances that plane like rafale,Hornet or mig 29 can takedown f22 raptor but with skilled and experienced pilots for dog fight

this is basically a diet coke F-22 isn't it? well for differences i can see, the vertical stabilizers are taller (maybe) the horizontal stabilizers are definitely longer, they stick further out the back, the engines have the typical conical assembly instead of 2d vectoring flaps, and the canopy doesnt have the amber polarized coating, also theres a camera dome and some kind of probe offcentered from the nosecone
