Rafale is intended to perform air supremacy, interdiction, aerial reconnaissance, ground support, in-depth strike, anti-ship strike and nuclear deterrence missions. The Rafale is referred to as an "omnirole" aircraft by Dassault.

I had the honour to work in the rafale department in Paris as an intern. This aircraft has seen more than 4000 modifications since the first prototype to make it the best military aircraft in the world. Amazing!

@@Pub4si @Pub4si yeah but then we have to buy it on large numbers and it is quite expensive because we have to fund other tons of project as well and we already have an indigenous alternative just because it not ready and it is in development state the IAF bought 36 rafales the same amount of current needs
@@namanbiswajit9756 Those 36 Rafales were made to India's specification. They are even better then the Rafales the French use. But those indigenous fighters HAL Tejas are at most 3rd gen fighters. America is already starting to fly 6th gen fighters that fighter is already a bygone relic of history.
@@Pub4si Bruh tejas is 4.5 gen fighter First learn then speak. We can fill requirements with Tejas mk2 and ORCA
@@namanbiswajit9756 The Tejas is an old gen 3 triangular design. This design comes from the cold war era emphasizing speed and acceleration while sacrificing agility. Similar planes are like the Mirage 2000.
The modern 4.5 fighter jets using a similar triangular design like the Tejas all have canards to help mitigate this agility problem. Examples include the Dassault Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon.
Even the Hals Tejas MK2 now have canards in place. Other problems for Tejas include weak frame, heavyweight, and short combat range. Perhaps the MK2 would be better but the Indian government has already given the airforce 20 MK1s to use.
When India first went to France to buy the Rafale France was in dire need of a buyer to keep production costs down. The deal was 126 planes for 150 million USD (Each plane costing about 1 million USD) with the possibility of receiving production rights. But after the first deal was canceled in 2015 Egypt and Qatar both bought Rafales from France. So when the 2nd deal with India came up they no longer have a similar urgency. The 2nd deal turned into 26 planes for 88 million USD (Each plane costing 2.4 million USD) India also lost the privilege of learning some technology.
The Hal Tejas has many problems and is a 3rd gen fighter no matter how you look at it. Perhaps changes can be made with MK2 and later but as it stands now. The Tejas is nothing but a relic of a bygone era. Being blinded by Nationalism isn't going to change this.
Now Indian Air Force has this magnificent machine. Long live India and France friendship🙏
