@@danielsgrunge When it first came out, it was rough to accept it because people would compare it to Adrenaline and WP. It has bangers, but comparatively, we were thinking something even better than WP was about to hit. Self-title isn't better than WP, but I definitely got around to respecting it as what it is fully 2-3 years after its release.
It was an ok album for me when coming off the high of around the fur especially and white pony. I always leaned more toward around the fur being their best album but shift sometimes towards white pony being better and when self titled came out it wasn’t topping either. Also this is when I believe chino switched up his scream, possibly do to vocal damage when during white pony. So that really turned me off but going back to the album, it’s definitely solid af and sometimes I wish Stef would just go back to a seven string and just bust out the 8/9 string on an occasional track.
I'm happy for you brother 🙏 and obviously you didn't stop here right? You went back to the origin of Like Linus right? And now they are in your top 1 right? JK BROTHER, but after seeing them 12 xs it never gets old!! The deftones are amazing 👏!!!

I feel like it was the first deftones album that I grasped . I was so young when the others came out . But I was like prime teenage age for this release and had lived through so much crap
No matter what age I become or how long this life is... The ending of this song where Chino screams "God help me" over and over... Will FOREVER give me goosebumps.
How absolutely amazing it is to see this remastered version! Our beautiful Chi looks even better and this being the 10 year anniversary of his passing just last month. I can't believe this is also 20 years since the release of this masterpiece from my favorite band! Chino, Steph, Abe, Frank and Chi (RIP), you guys are the GOAT. Love you guys so much! Please do a 20 year show for this album!! 🙏
To me there's always shades of grey and darkness but also light in Deftones music. This album though to me imo quite frankly is one of their there bleakest, darkest if not the most challenging and least commercial sounding work and is all the more powerful for it. It's very ethereal like Gore but much darker. I love it when they blend both of those style's. I find it incredibly hard to place where I put this in their discography because I don't really do lists especially when it comes to Deftones. Their self titled is an absolute gem of an album. My personal favourites when it comes to how their album's flow and the dynamics and contrast heavy and melodic. I'd go Koi No Yokan and White Pony and I'm loving Ohms at the moment. That album I loved immediately yet it is still growing on me and surprises me with how layered it is. Love this band.

The memories this song brings me, man lol love Deftones
Gotta respect Deftones. They were different to a lot of the nu metal bands at the time.
I listen to these songs everyday…so I’ve decided to leave a comment too while I’m at it! Here’s one: great song!
Deftones will NEVER disappoint!!! 🤘🏼
2003 what a time in my early 20's. This album was my soundtrack for that year.
Same here. I was actually living on a boat in Oahu at the time. Lol.
I couldn't imagine doing that now.
@@dynamicphotography_ Jeff, I bet that year on the sea in Hawaii was paradise most of the time though. Are you from Hawaii or did you just spend a year there back then?
Bro every album they released was the soundtrack to life for that respective year LoL 😂 👍
@@manuelhernandez2017 well said actually... That's probably why November 2012 - November 2013 was so damn cool for me. 😁🤙🏼
@@mikeeclipse I had a seasonal job with the US census bureau in 2010, and it was mostly me driving around with my windows down and blasting diamond eyes from 1 area to the next, then on top of that I had a nice girl named Mia as my partner and she would be jamming with me while I was driving... She didn't know Deftones before then, their music has seriously helped a lot of memories. We had so much fun brother. I'll buy you a beer if you ever come over to see them live here in Texas. We typically go see them here at least twice(2 different cities) when they tour here. Cheers 👍
This album got me through some pretty kick ass times. Much love and thanks for all the music memories. Yo Abe keep slaying those skins brother.
Appreciate the long and continued repping' of Sacramento. Big fan, also a local. Hometown heroes!
Shit... still sound like old days... Chino dont miss a chord of his voice... what a band is Deftones, my lord !
Simply one of the heaviest and killer tracks on deftones, one of my favorite albums ever!
The verses in this song are a vibe. ❤
This is their best song from their best album. There’s something eerie over the simplicity of the video and I really would love to learn more about the director was going for.
California Latino culture.
@@joshasunto27i wonder what the metaphor with the girl and the dog is tho
I’ve been listening to Deftones since 2000, back to school.
They’ve never let me down, unlike many friends since then.

RIP Chi, never forgotten, thankyou for all the music.
Always one of their best songs on an underrated album
I'm really thankful that I discovered Deftones, better late than never
The band of my teenage years. No other band compares to this one, inspite of all my years of listening to music. I found them at 15, now I'm 42. They're JUST as BADASS as when I heard them for the first time. ❤❤
Jesus i feel like im playing Dave Mirra Pro BMX in my Ps1 agian. REST IN PEACE DAVE. Deftones was the best free show ever . Thank Kevin for the hook-up
The song that got me into the Deftones. Such a simple but sick riff. 🤘
Incredible, one of my favourites songs of the band, I used to have this alarm song when i was 19 years old. Crazy how time flies and they are still strong as a band.

I dont know why I've been so obsessed with this song lately. That Intro riff has been stuck in my head for weeks and it refuses to get out of there haha.
Luv deftones
Thank you, Deftones. Happy 20th anniversary. One of my favorites LPs from the band and of course what amazing album art cover too. Stay strong and rock on, cheers! R.I.P. Chi
I have seen Deftones 13 times since 2000. Never get tired of their music

So good to see Chi again. This is my favorite Deftones record. So heavy. Much love.
Holy hell Chino absolutely murdered this🔥🔥🔥🔥
timeless beauty
I just wanna say that ever since I came across you guys, my life had changed for the better. Your music has such beautiful emotion and the way they develop is very catchy. I’m almost addicted in a way, but I love it. I’m so so glad that I took that chance to dive deeper into the art of rock, because I couldn’t be happier! Thank you so much! You are very much respected.
seeing Chi in this quality struck a chord
Absolutely.
I saw them open for Life of agony at the Birch Hill club in New Jersey been a fan since then
