I think this is a most beautiful orchid! I first saw this one on Paula's channel, and fell in love! I like the look of bi-foliates, but am leery of them. I just barely have 1 year under my belt. I am also limited to the windows in my home. Beautiful blooms and you should show them often!! 💗🌸🌺
Hi RaeAnn 🥰💐 well, we are both inspired by this orchid after having seen her on screen! When I saw her on a video from The Orchid Room, I had no doubts! She loves the camera, there is no need to try to describe the color because the camera picks it up perfectly, be it shade or sun! And well, when an orchid can do that on screen, the real thing is not that surprising but it does make you take a step back 🫣👌🏼knowing what I know now, I would probably not be on the market to buy her, but back then, things were totally different and now I am soooo glad that I followed my gut! Just look at that mass of blooms. Finding room for such a big orchid can be a pain, but a display like that really makes it worth it. Considering the blooming the past two seasons, makes you wonder if it isn't winter light that is important, but bright light when growing and then a drier, no fertilizer winter that impacts the quality of the blooming.

Isn't it beeeeaaauuuuttttteeeeeefffuuull! 🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🙌🏼 I have often wondered if a blooming is dependant on the amount of light an orchid gets while growing the new growths OR, if light is vital for orchids during the time they are preparing to bloom. Now, this one clearly could be one or the other. I have other orchids that do not get that much light but still bloom, even as they growths mature indoors... like by digbyana. Still, it is something to take into consideration ... I am relieved happy that she is not weakening, so we should be ok to have her in the collection bar any dummy moves on my part 🫣😬 hope you had a wonderful Saturday, my friend! Hi Nina, this combination of guatemalensis & skinneri has to be one tough orchid. Back in the days of my former orchid life I had what I think was aurantiaca ‘guatemalensis’ which grew and bloomed like it was on steroids. I now still have a skinneri hybrid which is white with lavender tinge when exposed to more sunlight and it also grows like a weed. So it’s only natural that a cross like yours will give you a stunning plant. I love it, the colour is gorgeous, a cross between coral & rose. Thanks for showing this lovely orchid, I could sit and stare at it for hours (well not quite)
HI Renate 😍💐 size DOES matter 😆 sometimes!! Especially when it comes to taking care of this orchid for the coming months... but I much prefer the care I can give her during the months she is outside, as opposed to the minimal lack / neglect that I have to impose on her because of her size. Fact that she has done this now after 2 harsh winters, including the most diabolical spring that I have ever lived through here on the coast in 2022, the relief of having one orchid not fuss and collapse on me, is exponential 🙌🏼 white and lavender tinged blooms? I am happy to just take it and enjoy it 😆 yes, there is the Laelia anceps look about her blooms 👍🏼 good eye! I now have to be super vigilant as to where her new growths are going to come out of, because yikes, she has a longish rhizome and well.... we are up against the pot 🙄 hope your Saturday was fabulous, despite the rain / cool temps. As mentioned in the live stream, we had some rain drops, I thought it was me getting residual misting water on me, thought my sprayer was leaking, but then I saw the terracotta floor. It was nothing though! So little that I did not have to go around flushing pots from the bad rain. I wouldn't have minded a good down pour with these temperatures, but that would have messed up my whole day 😂 thank you so so much for watching and for coming to the stream! And I meant it, I would love to coordinate a day / time that we go live together using the app on our phones .... we need to practice maybe? I am a bit overwhelmed at the moment, works in the house now and the garden coming shortly. I have not been well, my hands, especially right hand, hurt. I had to stop the works on the other side of the garden. A gardener is coming over shorty to finish up, also do other things that need to be done, redo the lawn and finally cut the tree that needs to go. At the moment already some repairs are being done indoors and it is all a mess. After that, I am all yours 🤗😘😘😘

But the first 2 years it did Nothing! 🤨 Once it became root bound in the pot, it started blooming... So have left it with tight pots ever since. 😅 Hope your Saturday was a fun one... I am not wearing a sweat shirt tonight! 🙌🏼 I am, however wearing a coating of 'doom for mozzies' 😂 I was in heaven on the patio today... we had 86ºF in the SHADE today 🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🙌🏼 I was so happy, felt so good, I was about to hurt myself with all the cartwheels I was doing... mental gymnastics can pull a muscle as well, did you know that? 🤣 comes with old age 😂 I shall remember the tight squeeze you mention in your comment. This orchid is up against the edge of the pot, and while I have no intention of increasing the pot size... I have to watch where the next growth is coming from and then see if I can do one more year with her in the pot, or if we have to intervene this year. Then it will be a tight squeeze to try and fandangle her into the pot at another angle, using the corners for extra room to grow 🤔 cross that bump when the time comes! Right now I am not into crossing bridges, building bridges ... maybe burning bridges, now there is an idea! Out with the garbage 😜 thank you so much for watching, Wingman!
