Quantum Theory is a game that had the guts to do things differently. Instead of playing it safe and making a boring looking good game, they rolled the dice and made a crazy looking terrible game.
I really liked that The Darkness allowed you to throw your little goblin ally at enemies, but being able to throw an entire cyberninja girl? This game is a masterpiece.
with all the weaponized anime girls around you'd think this would be a gimmick that happens more often. I mean Fire Emblem has like 300000 swordswomen but I never got to chuck them at someone
@@1stshockarmy That really should be a tatical RPG move. Lightweight characters can be 'catapulted' by jumping off like, a strong ally's tower shield or something.
Or you have a 'troll' class whose super large and super swole and can fast ball other characters like BT in Titanfall.
@Harrison Fross technically you can do that in blood bowl 2
@@ClankykingSumireko ah yes, my fav anime cyberninja, big and ugly orc guy
I love how when the girl dies he's just ok with it. No attempt to save her whatsoever, the guy just vaulted over all stages of grief straight into acceptance.
He would have taken cover behind them first.
Absolute King
She said "this is as far as I go🤧🤕🤒"
I said "die well lmao🤑😎😈"
He knows how the girls nowadays are and said "fuck it you would replace me anyway"
@@foxtrotsierraproductions8626 okay buddy
The “Lucky Strikes” joke was top tier, Oboe does it again
He doesn't miss
Yes
i had to stop for a second the video, the most dad joke i've heard in months, i had to take some time to savor it
God dude as soon as it hit me I had to pause the video and LITERALLY STAND UP to take it in
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who paused the video when he said that 🤣
Hey Mr.Shoe, Cabela's has a game where you shoot wolves with a flare gun and you have to uncharted climb onto mountains in order to shoot moose. It's called Cabela's Survival: Shadow of Katmai and I think it's perfect for the channel
That sounds awesome, I need to play this. Cabela's games are so strange sometimes lol.
Any of the Cabela's sequels would be incredible. The series evolved pretty quickly into "hunting" COD setpieces worth of inexplicably aggressive animals.
Should play dangerous hunts 2. You can literally hunt the yeti.
Holy crap this is legit?! What the hell were they on in the 2000s 😂
I feel all the games with Laura Bailey in them are actually all one connected universe
The Baileyverse
*it all makes sense now...*
Japanese devs trying to make "western" feeling games always results in the most unintentionally hilarious shit
I'm so glad that misguided phase is behind us now and they started to get their shit together again. Goddamn Keiji Inafune started it all 😂
What's the opposite? Western devs making japanese feeling games... Ghosts of Tsushima? Does Silent Hill count?
@@TheAssassin642 That usually doesn't go well either, Tsushima was kinda an exception.
@@TheAssassin642 90% of souls like fall into that category.
@@kyridounis5040 Except that the souls series and Elden Ring is a Japanese take on Western High Fantasy.
i love how oboeshoes plays random games that you've never heard of and then there's always someone in the comments that goes "yo that brings back memories i had a blast playing that game when is was a kid"
Proof enough that a whole lot of games only have fanbases because of "i played this as a kid when I didn't know any better"
Well I didn't play it as a kid, but I do have this game on the Xbox360 lol
I think a lot of people who were big gamers in the 360 era heard of this
@@hermitgreenn This. They are harmless but irritating af.
Also "i wish they remastered this game"
This game has my favorite aesthetic: a military shooter compensating its generic world with ridiculous half-medieval, half-organic technology.
It’s like everything is made out of what the Witchblade is made out of
I’ll give it that, it has the makings of an interesting world. According to what little lore I could find, it’s set in a slowly dying world where semi-organic towers erode and mutate their surroundings. Everyone is either infected with this corruption or born of it entirely, with both groups fighting to destroy the towers or protect them, respectively.
Like, that’s cool, that could be a neat sci-fi setting.
I remember the magazine ad for this game, which touted features like "Mutilate & Humiliate Your Friends in Visceral Online Multiplayer". Really showed what Japanese devs thought Western gamers were like at the time...
I mean, they weren't wrong.
Well they were and still are correct
sounds...exactly like the sales pitch for GoW
"Visceral Online Multiplayer"... Battlefield Hardline? :P
The general train of thought at the time was "American Games are selling better than Japanese games, so we should make games that are exactly like American games. Mind you CoD and Gears were the biggest shit at the time so."
At least we got Binary Domain out of it.
You can almost see, smell, taste and hear the desperation the devs were in when the time came to name the game.
Actually, I have heard of it Oboe. It constantly came up when I was looking for Quantum Conundrum on the game store. Like, the second word are no where near the same and it wouldn't stop coming up. It wouldn't leave me alone.
@Denam Yeah, I was gonna watch it regardless though. And I still would've made this comment, just not with the first part. But he did make me look like a damn fool.
Thanks for the laugh
This unlocked a core memory. I played this in elementary
This unlocked a foundation memory. I watched The Core in elementary.
This unlocked a quantum memory I remember playing a demo of this when I didn't have any games for my 360
There's gotta be some way to make an actually interesting game that doubles down on the absurdity of combining gruff gears of war guys with anime sword girls.
I feel like he just searches for the worst, most mind-numbing games ever made
🥴
He'd need to start playing Wii for that
@@THICCTHICCTHICCMuscle March
Somehow this is exactly what I expected japanese Gears of War would be like
As a future game designer I have to note the idea of throwing anime-sword-girls as future gameplay mechanic
Oboe shoes gaming can you actually play the oboe
Just knowing what this guy sounds and looks like, I'd say yes.
He can't, but he'll learn for the right price.
He can play the skin oboe
but can he play the shoes?
I could swear I heard him reference the taste of a reed. Could be another UA-camr though I just know I heard that reference within the last month.
Also "They promise to deliver a game experience like any other." Is the perfect description of this game lol
Dude, this game deserves a remaster
facts, i loved this game
"If you smoke you'll wind up like Quantum Theory"
Welp that's it no more cigarettes for me.
This game needs a remaster
Oboeshowsgames has uploaded, time to wake up from my slumber
I knew I could count on you digging out this game. My only memory of it was its bizarre E3 trailer where they rattled off "tower" more often than they say "chaos" in that FInal Fantasy game. I did not remember the title or who made it, just that it was a Gears clone and they kept talking about a fucking tower.
"Do you know any redheads IRL who aren't evil?"
*looks at my redhead girlfriend* "I'm in danger!"
I got this game as a gift from my big brother, I finished it and forgot about it immediately.
this game looks so edgy and weird looking i'm at awe of the finish product of this game. thanks for the vid!
I had a soft spot for this unusual game from day 1.
I still love the aesthetics of this game.
Bizarre for the sake of bizarre...
I did and finished it three times on PS3. There was no Gears of War on that console, but man, I have fond memories. Thanks for your video. Sad thing is, that this game never got the splitscreen co-op mode, that the developers once promised. And the network modes never worked for me, couldn't find any players 😔
This is the peak of brown and grey cover shooters 🔥🔥
That "Lucky Strike" joke made me pause the video and soak in the genius. Good job Mr.Shoe you do not miss.
Dude, the first E3 I watched on G4tv featured this game, but literally all I could remember was cover shooting and throwing a lady. No one knew what he fuck I was talking about but after years I had just assumed that I was just subconsciously combining elements for Vanquish and Prince of Persia and maybe a little Enslaved and some JRPG. But here it is... not really as good as all the other things I just mentioned. Thank you Sir Shoes for reminding me of, and subsequently playing for me, this game 12 year old me thought seemed uber cool.
The black dude after being shot for 30 while mid air was like guys im sorry i didnt mean to say that you have great defenses
But he learned a lesson
Damn this game deserves a remaster
Oboe’s on to such a winner with this consistent weird old console era game uploading
The good thing for him is that there's a lot of them. The PS360 generation was full of awful, brown shooters. A lot of them had some sort of gimmick going on, but Bulletstorm and Darkness were probably the only good ones.
people saying they remember this from childhood must have had
shitty childhoods
I remember this from adulthood.
This is definitely a game you play in your new step-dad's basement while you try to drown out the noises coming from the upstairs bedroom.
@@NeoMaddy much more accurate
THANK YOU. YES. They have terrible taste lmfao 😂
I remember playing the demo of this on 360. when i wasnt allowed to buy or play 16 or 18 rated games.

Boe Jiden: We need to ban high capacity assault waifus
Just buy a double barreled waifu shooter and fire two blasts outside the house.
Well....your title is absolutely right. All your other 360-era games, I had forgotten and your video reminded me of them, but this one...yup, legitimately have never heard it. I think it deserves a remaster, I think then it would find the right audience.
Man I remember playing a demo of this game on my ps3 years ago, I didn't feel compelled to finish the short demo. lol
Oboe you better try play Bulletstorm (2011). It's like Gears of War but in first person and replace your chainsaw gun to a leash.
I highly recommend Fracture for you to check out, fun 3rd erson shootie
I remember this game because it had an awesome song in the trailer and I played the demo. It was beneficial for its time.
never heard if it ? i was waiting at the store on release day to get a copy on ps3, literally left work and went to pick it up, played the hell out of it, loved it....for some reason, it reminds me of the BLAME! manga, and i loved it for that, exact reason why i loved another game PROTOTYPE, it had the same aesthetics for me, still have the copy of the ps3, wish there was one on steam.
Throwable waifus, so there is one single redeemable feature
I randomly got this game for my birthday one year. Played it once then sold it years later.
This game deserves a remaster
I don't want a remaster, I just want the original 😢
Dude, I remember this. Got it as a present from some family members after they saw some gears of war marketing. They were kinda close i guess.
"What can they smell you coming? Are they drawn to your stench?" Jesus Christ hahahahahahahah
Ah Yes, the Prequel of Quantum Break
I'm really happy you managed to find a niche for your channel.
The lucky strikes joke had me wheezing like a man that bowled every day for yesrs
Bro your channel and the games you played really brought back the nostalgia! I remember it was my birthday in the 6th grade, I rushed to gamestop with my dad and wanted to get bulletstorm and homefront, but they were too expensive since they were new so I ended up settling with timeshift, quantum theory, and dark sector!
dude, your Lucky Strikes bowling pun absolutely fucked me up hahaha
2:35 Nobody needs a 30 round assault sword girl. 😆
This brings back memories of booting up the 360 ,playing thus game for five minutes and instaltly regreting my purchase
A few ways you know you're playing a game from the early 2000s: Everything is brown/grey, every soldier looks like a generic Unreal asset, they're all voiced by Steve Blum, and Laura Bailey is probably in it too.
Damn,Quantum Theory deserves a remake!
I just realized I've accidentally been calling this game Infinite Undiscovery for years, and had to go look up what that game actually was.
wow i cant imagine what Keith Fergusson was thinking about when Voicing for this game, what a trip not hearing him in D2
A couple of recommendations for the channel, Never Dead and Binary Domain. I actually remember enjoying Binary Domain, as far as I recall, but it's another game that I feel falls into this category of games.
Binary Domain is great. NeverDead, not so much
@@kylemulkey9659 In agreement there. I only recommend it here because it's just one of those weird games kinda like Bullet Witch and others.
i was watching a bunch of your videos, now i get ads for Oboes.well played sir xD
I think I've seen gameplay of this back on G4 (you know it's been that long) and it was just a vague memory stuck in the back of my mind for a decade
5:18 missed opportunity to call it "babe blade"
Throwing women is a game mechanic I never knew I needed
Wow Cortana sounds really passive aggressive in this one
Lmao now I think I will randomly remember that stupid "die well" thing if I die while conscious
The fact that he said "No, I'm Chaos" tells me this is an alternate universe prequel-sequel-sidequel to Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
I would love to see you play the outfit, I played it on the Xbox 360 and I think I still have a disc copy, don’t know how I would even give it to you but I would totally do it if you say you’ll make a video on it
Artstyle looks like everyone's armor got chewed and spat out...
Oh lordy. I rented this from the Blockbuster back when this came out with a mate and I kid you not, that first beginning bit of the game was as far as se got. It controls like soapy water.
*PTSD intensifies*
I only knew this game existed because I found it on a Xbox 360 pirate game site
This is one of the best looking games I’ve played on PS3. Graphics are top notch. Has some decent music too. It’s not a good game, but there are worse.
Hey Oboe since you are playing all these jank games from the 7th gen you should play Fracture from Day One Studios. It was published by lucasarts. It was a third person shooter in which you can control the physics and raise or lower the ground.
Dude, this game deserves a remaster!
5:23 Stranger of Paradise, is that you?
I wasnt sure what game he was playing when I watched this video so I looked in the description to find out, turns out it was just the first gears of war from 2006, thank you for the confirmation
I forgot this game existed. Looking back it was a bad game but it was fun at the time.
Oh wow, turns out I heard about this game, but the name didn't stick, and for me it was "that awful GoW clone with anime girl as a sidekick".
My respect after hearing that 2A joke at 2:33 📈📈
They should have released this on N64 as a fighter and called it Quantum Instinct. Or Killer Theory. "Works" both ways.
new favorite weapon: Throwing Woman. perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
This game really has the dna of Strangers of Paradise
I appreciate Lord Saladin being the main character
so basically .. pack of cigs = perfect game ? thanks oboe 💪🏾
Day 656 of trying to get Oboe to play through skyrim as sigurd.
A video saying “you’ve never heard of this game” where I ACTUALLY haven’t heard of the game? Oboe really can do anything
Awesome vid!! Maybe also check out games like Damnation, Ride to Hell Retribution or Rogue Warrior next
I remember seeing one of my friends play this game on his Xbox360 when I was over at his house, I only had a PS2 at the time and I legitimately thought that this was next gen stuff
Check out singularity and inversion. I remember really liking both when the came out.
Pretty sure he already did singularity
4:19 holy fuck that joke got me JSKAJSKSKAKSJSKSKAKSKJSNANS
Bro! Throw girl just pulled out the amazon lord of the message move :O
I'm gonna write "complete Damnation" on every one of your videos of playing old games, maybe
I actually played the xbox live demo and completely forgot it existed. It probably contributed to my hatred of grimdark themes too.
Another forgotten game that I think would be interesting to see oboe play is "Dead to Rights: Retribution"
Throwgirl, Swordlady, or my favorite Uncomfort Woman.
02:19 STTONG couldnt even get their own subtitles right.
I remember when I played the original PS3 Demo that I thought "Ah, PS3's Gears of War attempt"
Ok the lucky stikes joke made me laugh. My grandfather smoked those. Im old.
I remember playing this back in the day and thought it wasn't bad, not great, but not bad.... but, I wasn't into anime back then, now I am, being able to throw ninja anime girl at enemies? Seems to me that makes this a 10/10
1:22 hold up is that Mad World
Syd as in Sydney ? It could be a boy's name...if you hate your son.
There's some game I saw being advertised years ago where you drive a train across Siberia and kill wolves with a fire axe. I forget what it's called but you should play that.
