Is she singing and playing drums at the same time? YES! 😍 Her drum teacher encouraged her from an early age to sing along to the lyrics while playing to achieve better harmony with her sisters while playing the drums. At some point she was able to sing songs completely on her own. 😉 See also "Dust to Dust" and "Narcisista"!

The consensus for about a decade now is Pau is an alien. It’s physically impossible to put that much grace and talent in such a small, perfect package!
You can hear Pau breath if you listen . . She is Drumeo Rock Drummer of the Year 2023 . . . She has been doing this sinse she started playing . . She used to train on a treadmill and run while singing to master it . The only backing track will be oooooOOOOoooss as far as i know. . bye from New Zealand . . 👍👋NZ🇳🇿🍻twa
23 is absolutely The Warning's masterpiece! Tracks like 'More' or 'Six feet Deep' might be more "radio friendly," but 23 totally checks off every box. Deep and painful lyrics delivered with tremendous emotion, awesome riffs and a monster bass! So many have said, how on earth does Pau do it? There is never a break in her voice, nor a missed beat! Truly incredible! It was in 2019 that some algorithm suggested to me to check The Warning out (while I was creating social media for our band). I am so happy for all of the great things that have happened to them since then! I am still perplexed as to why they aren't a household name with platinum records and Grammys on their wall, but 2025 has just started! The Villarreal sisters are precisely what our music industry has been sadly missing for at least the last 20 years!
This is the best version of this (not the Pepsi one). Pau in great form including singing that killer last note! A masterclass in drumming and singing that is nearly impossible to comprehend! She does it again in Dust to Dust!
@fantus01 I was looking for a long time for the source of the treadmill story. Was it an interview, a vlog entry or a Patreon video? Can you offer any help?
Paulina Villarreal is the 2023 Modern Drummer Up and Coming Drummer of the Year, AND the Drummeo 2023 ROCK Drummer of the Year. She is also a great lead vocalist in her own right. She writes and composes a lot of The Warning's material, and has co-directed one of their music videos - *Que Mas Quieres.* Yes, Cliff, she's really singing this. They also use tracks from her laptop to fill in what they double tracked in the studio, and they aren't shy about that. They perform to a click, so they remain tight enough to stay in sync with those tracks. This is one of the most amazing bands I've ever seen in my 69 years. I was a college radio station operations manager and had access to over 10,000 albums in the 1970s. I've never heard ANYTHING like this band. They are so good because they started classical piano training at 4, 6, and 7. Dany started guitar at 8, Pau started drums at 6, and Ale picked up the bass at 7. They went viral at 9, 12, and 14 with their cover of Enter Sandman, and suddenly they had to seize the moment, which obviously, they did! There is another great live recording of *23* made about 15 months later than this one at the Pepsi Center in Mexico City (Ciudad Mexico, the abbreviation CDMX). Dany does a simple, but very sad and contemplative guitar solo intro for *23* at that performance. It sends chills down my spine. They have four albums out, without a bad song on any of them. Not since The Beatles...
Dany's plaintive guitar is an excellent counterpoint to Ale's SNARLING threat of a bassline. It's almost like Dany is saying, "I'm here for you, Sis," and Ale is saying, "LET ME AT HIM!"
This an re-upload from Cliff's other YT channel from a year ago. He just created this new channel for reactions he has done previously. Doubt you will see any replies.
The echo vocal is a track. Pau is singing lead, live. This is pretty clear at the 4:18 minute mark of your video where she gets a little off the beat. One of my favorite songs from Error, plus an amazing live performance.
Haha love it. The Teatro Metropolitan version of 23 was the first The Warning song I played for my wife. She was blown away and her eyes welled up with tears by the end. Pau's delivery was masterful. And that 2nd high note? Chills...
I thought that at first too, BUT she sings lead during fills in Disciple and is constantly singing backup in other songs during very complex beats & fills. As a drummer, I can absolutely appreciate her skill. That takes years and years to get that comfortable behind the kit! Go Pau ❤
Yes, she is playing and singing live. This happens and has been happening for over 10 years now with Pau. There is NO backup vocalist in the shot you pointed out. Anyone at the edge of the stage in the dark is doing camera shots. Dany is doing the backup vocals in this live presentation of this song. That being said, they do run backing tracks that they record themselves and play back during live shows since they're a trio. The only backing track is the extra Oh oh ohs. 🤘⚡🔥
She trains her breath control by running on the treadmill and singing. Shes amazing. In this song Dany is harmonizing with her. In most other songs Dany is lead with Pau singing backup all the time and Ale throws backing vocals in here and there also. You want to be blown away again check out Dust to Dust / Dull Knives from Pepsi Center CDMX
There are minimal background vocals on their click tracks. Minimum! I've seen them live and what you're hearing us real. These girls are the real thing.
This an re-upload from Cliff's other YT channel from a year ago. He just created this new channel for reactions he has done previously. Doubt you will see any replies.
she sing and drums at the same time since she plays drums . One of her first drums teachers encourage her to stay on point. She said in a ITW she even pay attention now when she does it on stage
They use a few subtle backing tracks. That echo you heard is one of them, but that was mostly the crowd singing it. Pau trains by singing while running on a treadmill. She's been singing and playing since age 6! As a working drummer and multi-instrumenalist myself for over 3 decades, I'm impressed beyond words Pau, especially! I've seen them 7 times but never saw 23 though, totally a bucket list song for me, along with Survive. If you haven't watched Dust to dust, we recommend the Pepsi center version that jumps right into Dull knives (cut better). Also, Narcisista is a Pau lead vox song, and Disciple is a duet with Dany. ⚠️⚡️🤘⚡️⚠️
She was really singing, there are many fan cam videos where it's easier to tell that.. this is difficult to tell cause this was post produced. Either way, the sound better live in person.
Her first drum teacher encouraged her to sing while drumming as she started out so she's always done that and got that coordination built from the beginning. She's also been doing this for over a decade now. Also she practices singing while running on a treadmill to have the stamina and breath control. Lots of talent and lots and lots of hard work and practice =)
Paulina (PAU) is the middle sister and drummer and main songwriter AND lead vocalist for many songs by The Warning. She is a once in a lifetime musical artist. Her two sisters are not far behind.
This an re-upload from Cliff's other YT channel from a year ago. He just created this new channel for reactions he has done previously. Doubt you will see any replies.
Another thing to keep in mind with this performance. The listener is getting sound from the soundboard. So the quality is excellent and probably has some post production added to it as well. They did two concerts from this venue back in 2022. So video footage is matched up with the vocals. And in several cases video from both shows is used for the final music video.
Pau sings lead on about 20% of their songs, most of them while drumming. She trades off lead with Dany on some songs, while drumming, check out Evolve where sings while doing a kick-ass drum fill. She also does backing vocals on many other songs.
Queens of Rock. Authentic. Talented. I haven't heard a ballad that moved me since Still Loving You by Scorpion. They're heading to legendary status, 💯 I'd like to hear Survive, Pepsi Center.
Pau is singing and drumming at the same time, she has done so since she was six years old. They do use backing tracks, but only to embellish a song, it never becomes the song, the Woa's woa's are on the track, but it is really her singing the main song. They are always open and honest about what they do on stage and they have a policy when it comes to the studio, that if they can't do it live then they don't record it. Pau is just Phenomenal, but so is Dany who play guitar while singing and Ale has also played bass while singing lead too, they are all so incredibly talented and have worked very hard to improve that talent .
Paulina has more than half of her life playing the drums and singing, either covers and her own songs, at the beginning it was more noticeable in her breathing but she has been polishing that, even in some concerts her breathing is more noticeable, in this song it is calmer so it sounds cleaner
This an re-upload from Cliff's other YT channel from a year ago. He just created this new channel for reactions he has done previously. Doubt you will see any replies.
@Biomirth Yes..been a long time Sub of his main channel where he no longer Reacts to The Warning. Not sure if you will see many more on this channel ... did not have a whole lot from previous reactions.
Real? Are you kidding...I see aliens have landed. They're really good at singing while drumming aren't they? 🌏✌️This fantastic drummer "Paulina" was FAN VOTED BEST ROCK DRUMMER OF THE YEAR 2023 AT THE DRUMEO AWARDS.. 🌏✌️
If you have doubts just watch a few videos of when they were still young and just starting and playing in their basement. She sang while drumming then too.
There are two other drummers that I know of who could do what Pau does: Karen Carpenter and Levon Helm. Pretty small group of world class talent that helped define music for decades. Probably sold at least 50 million records between them.
Oh yeah, she was singing. She's been doing this since she's been a kid. She's real, and she is spectacular.
Perfect call back!! Thx for the chuckle!
Dany is singing very soft harmony backups.
Seinfeld reference much?
Is she singing and playing drums at the same time?
YES! 😍

Yes, Pau was singing, just like she was in the video for Dust To Dust that you posted in December 👍✌
Fuck yes she was singing for real!
The consensus for about a decade now is Pau is an alien. It’s physically impossible to put that much grace and talent in such a small, perfect package!
Pau is wired differently. It's that simple.
She won an award in 2024 for best drummer from Drumeo magazine.
2023 rock drummer
@@Thegroovingplace At the award presentation, they played a clip from this concert of her playing *23.*
Highly likely one of the best all time drumming / singing performances .
Pau is singing, they don't lip sync and don't have a back up singer, she sings while she is running on the treadmill!
To be fair, Dany & Ale trade off on backing vocals.
@@BryceKatz ...and they've never hidden the fact that they use backing tracks when and where they feel it is appropriate.
@@thesuperdak7224 Indeed - but it's always for "sparkle." You'd barely notice if Pau's Macbook died in the middle of a song.
@@BryceKatz Absolutely!
100% she is singing live she is a genius

Dany sings parts an octave lower in a few spots, and an octave higher at the start of the second verse
Ale’s bass is super awesome this song!
23 is absolutely The Warning's masterpiece! Tracks like 'More' or 'Six feet Deep' might be more "radio friendly," but 23 totally checks off every box. Deep and painful lyrics delivered with tremendous emotion, awesome riffs and a monster bass!

She is belting while beating those drums 🤯 crazy
There was a backing track for that ethereal chorus but you can hear her gulping air.
This is the best version of this (not the Pepsi one). Pau in great form including singing that killer last note! A masterclass in drumming and singing that is nearly impossible to comprehend! She does it again in Dust to Dust!
“Dust to Dust” is her showcase. She sings ballads beautifully, but there’s nothing like hearing her belt while hammering the drums at the same time.
Pau is a genius. She is super talented and the creative force of TW.
All three sisters can sing and play at the same time.
That much talent in the same family does not feel fair actually🤣
She's been doing this since she was 6. Play and sing. She is now 22 years old. She said the secret is practice.
The legend is she has been singing while running on the treadmill but I am not sure what is the source so I cannot confirm this.
@@arctic_haze she said it by herself
Paulina is in a small club of drummers that can sing and she does it so well.

She has one of the best background vocalists on this song who is normally a lead singer❤
She started to sing from an indication of a drums teacher as a way to improve coordination.
