@@PhilZeroNo, um, for me, it is YAY 🎉
@@PhilZero Oh, it's absolutely not a problem. You are great at finding nuances. It was just amusing to me, is all.
😂😂😂😂
Check out the recent videos from the Vacken and Pol'and'Rock shows. The girls are KILLING it in Europe!
The Pol'ane'Rock one is better. You can barely hear Pau qt Wacken.
Man oh man Dany's vocals at ploand rock. Hope she has her voice insured.
If you are going to go see them and want follow along with the songs they are going to play. check out the song lineup from these concert and react to them.
I've seen them too! They are amazing!!💖 💖 💖
I wish the US would actually show concerts on TV...the European countries have done that for at least 50 years.
@@BobT-w5x She was in full growl and sass that day. That set ruled.
And once again I learn more about music through the fantastic combo of The Warning and Phil! Thanks Phil!
No one ever mentions : "Break my heart for all I care, as long as I got to be there..." is one of the saddest fucking things I've ever heard. :(
Ask sad as black holes " I surrender in my defeat" 😢
Also when she sings," Every word you say it's like it's poetry, a work of art that's not for me at all"
I completely agree with you.
@@GreatOutdoors1 Yeah, those two lines hit real hard
"The world around you cancels out three words that I can't say out loud."
OPEN THE PIT!!!
OPEN IT
READY? 1, 2, 3, GO! 💀
I got a tattoo of that a few days after viewing Wacken on YT, with credit to Pau at the bottom of course.
I see Phil. I click. I click like before the video even starts playing because yes, his reaction/ analysis videos are that good!
Thank you Mike! 🤠🤘💜
same here! Phil nails it - guarantee!
@PhilZeroCaun you please do black holes from Dakota bar please. Pau is on keyboards no drum kit at all. A great song!
Thank you 👍
Agreed!
100%
I agree that Pau's voice conveys emotion phenomenally. It's dramatic, but it always feels completely genuine. I also feel that the way she holds herself, the way she moves, and the grace and power with which she wields her drum sticks conveys a tremendous amount of emotion.
I love that you appreciate that Dany didn't do some crazy solo just so she could grab the spotlight and show that she kicks ass on her instrument. DPA always impress me with their ability to make whatever choices serve the song - no egos involved.
I love your reactions! Please keep them coming!
Pau's enunciation has always grabbed me too- you get every word clearly pronounced. Perhaps because ESL classes early on were taken just as seriously as her piano lessons and then were incorporated into her songwriting.
Ale is so automatic with her bass, plus the three piece band calls for her contribution to be more prominent than in larger groups, but thrilling to key in on. I agree that there is a "balance of talent" in everything they have written, and particularly love Dany's guitar in this song with a lot of it being subtle.
@@steveherman6909 I completely agree!
Phil, while Teatro is gold standard for the entire concert you need to see some of the new stuff that dropped this week at a festival in Poland! "Open the Pit!" Holy fuck!
seriously, "Sharks" from that show is EFFING AWESOME.
Dude you are so one of us!!!!!! "THE WARNING ARMY!!!"
Pau's first drum teacher used to make her sing while playing to help her practice her coordination and she's been doing it ever since. There are videos in their youtube channel of 10 year old Pau playing and singing at the same time. She's amazing!🥁🎤🔥
Yeah, I could listen to Phil nerd out about music for hours even though I have "zero" music abilities.
You don’t want to listen me nerd out for hours 😂
But THANK YOU! 🤠💜🤘
In the new song, Consume, live ,Pau sings the bridge ,which has a fast, almost rap ,with a lot of words, while playing a syncopated beat .Very impressive.
I am always taken by the gorgeous backing Ale and Dani in this song. They don't try to claim it at all, it purely for the song. The lack of ego in all three is a thing of beauty.
Pau practices her breath control by singing while running on a treadmill. This concert at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX is at a higher elevation with thin air...so, Im impressed.
7300feet in elevation, did he mention it.
Yeah, at least a thousand higher than their home city’ss average elevation. It’s been a while since I looked up, but I think the elevation where they’re from is in the 4000s.
@@josephine4s Monterrey is 540 metres (1,770 ft) above sea level

One of their most underrated and my personal favorite song of theirs.
Same here.
Agreed!!
You would like Larkin Poe's " Might as well be Me".
Lets be honest , if singing / drumming were an olympic sport , Pau would win the gold medal !🏅
She is talking about how she sang over drumming basically from the moment she started drumming. So she never really consciously had to learn it (consciously like in "Oh my god, this isnÄt even supposed to be possible - and I'm doing it!"). It just was there from the start. She only later learned how hard it is supposed to be.
ua-cam.com/video/1lyFUC6-h9E/v-deo.html
In just about any other band Pau would be the lead singer. But she happens to be in the Warning with Dany who has the most range. What a one two punch they have in lead singers. Add to that the backing vocals of Ale and we have probably the best current vocal band out there.
I would like to bring attention to Dany’s amazing backing vocals in this song.
Show in Pol'and'rock was insane
Every time the spotlight shines on Pau she delivers a special performance 🔥🔥🔥⚡⚡⚡
Your reactions are the best !
✌️💖🎼
Simplicity is genius...
That build-up that starts with "cross my heart" is so good. The kick drum and bass guitar patterns change in a way that gives that part of the song urgency.
Always my favorite part of the song!
This is one of my absolute favorite Warning songs. It's really relatable.
And yeah Dany has a great voice and I love her, but it's Pau's songs that tear your heart out.
Pau has recently said she's been singing while playing since she first started playing because her teachers had her do it, so since like 6 years old, and it's become almost second nature to her.
Also fun fact: Pau orignally wasn't supposed to sing lead on any of the Keep Me Fed songs because it's becoming really tiring for her to sing so many songs during their live sets, but she had to on Sharks because it was too hard for Dany or Ale to play and sing it at the same time because of the timing.
After watching TW at Poland come to see Phil! The Warning you never can’t have enough! by the way the performance at Poland the public and the stage it was the best I had ever seen.
Pau's singing while playing is purely practice, muscle memory, intelligent composition and crazy amounts of talent... ah yeah, and lots of practice!
BTW, my parents were professional entertainers and mom sang while playing drums. I might know a little about it
I played drums in my band back in the early 90's. The weird thing about that is, I could sing Metallica songs while I played, but not a song that I wrote.
One of my favourite songs of all times 🔥⚡🤘
🔥💯🔥🔥🔥❤️
Phil casually playing Neon is such a flex
There's always a disconnect in my mind regarding Mayer. His seeming very active dating past and looks categorized him as a himbo in my mind and then I discover he is an incredibly well regarded guitarist. I always miss a step there.
The camera operators at this concert catch these girls at their best. Paulina's drum roll in Animosity. Alejandra's closing in Survive. Daniella being back-lit by the lights while she finishes up 23 is a particulary striking image to me with the tune she's playing. Awesome video Phil as always. Looking forward to the next one.
13:27 I'm sure many people have commented, but the song is not talking about the age 23, but the year 2023. The Lyrics "Fast forward to 23
We're barely old enough to drink", That is when Pau turned 21, in 2023
Dany, being the usual frontwoman, has probably developed the most “theatricality” of the group, but I think Pau’s the most openly emotive. She often has this huge smile on her face when she’s drumming (“Hell You Call a Dream”), but she’s also had tears in her eyes during emotional moments (“Martirio,” and “Breathe” [at the Pepsi Center, which you haven’t seen yet]).
Yeah. I couldn't agree more.
Really enjoying your breakdowns. Thanks man.
Since my first listen to "23", and then watching the subsequent miriad of reactions to it, I have been dumbfounded nobody, except me, has found the line, "Break my heart for all I care; As long as I get to be there" to be noteworthy. I've been writing, as a hobby, including songs, for decades, and know my way around both poetry and prose. That line is a true gem.
"23" is such a beautiful power ballad. Sadly they have only played it live on a few occasions. I'd like to see it on their setlists often. Alas I don't think it'll happen. 😕
Not only the best 'The Warning' reactor but the most knowledgeable. I learn so much, not just about The Warning, but music in general when I watch your videos. I can't wait to see the first video you post after seeing them live!
Such a beautiful performance this was! They don't do this one live very often, but it's just gorgeous when they do. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll do it again some day :)
Dude, this is why you need to check out "Survive" especially from the TEDx Talk from UNV Reno. You theory about play a simple beat while singing and doing the hard part while when she's not... Survive is a master class in music composition
Hi Phil, loving your reactions. The song “Black Holes” is just amazing, I was blown away in the best way possible. This live version at Dakota bar is really emotional:

You won’t regret it. Enjoy and keep doing these reaction/analysis 🤘
The Pepsi Center version along with Breathe are great, too. Very emotional (especially Breathe). "I'm not crying, you're crying".
Here is Breathe. ua-cam.com/video/h1KJkAZbcOM/v-deo.html
@@JerryM710 Nothing wrong with doing both!
@@JerryM710 True that version is very special, with the huge crowd singing and violins, love that. I still personally prefer the Dakota one where you see a teenage Pau just pour her young heart out on stage in front of a small intimate crowd.
Oh and Ale and Dany’s contributions there are the cherry on top.
But yeah anytime they play it anywhere it’s still beautiful🤘
Really love your in-depth analyses on their songs. Their songwriting, musicianship, professionalism, talents, passion, charisma, and their extraordinary sibling dynamic, all blend their magic to make these young women a phenomenon that's going to rock the planet. "The Best Hard Rock Power Trio of the 21st Century."🦉🤟⚡🍩👍⚠⚡💥
Heed 'The Warning'!!
This channel needs to blow up, like yesterday. Great analysis!
Omg, Phil. I don't think you've nerded out this deeply in any video before. I'm here for it! I learned about trigger words!
Z, 23 and animosity are the hidden gems from the Error album.
I saw a video of Levon Helm talk about trigger words, but I'll say that Pau has said that since she's been singing since she started playing at age 6 that its second nature to her and just part of her DNA.
As a working drummer for over 30 years who also sings backing vox, I'll say that this song is deceptively difficult to play and sing and is very impressive. She changes patterns 6 times, verse/chorus, verse/chorus, break and multiple fills. And that vocal figure with the build up on the crashes at the end,... OMG😮 She reminds me of me, 30 years ago. She's F'ing amazing! 🤟🤘🤟🤘
Phil's Mmmmm meter is the benchmark on how well he is enjoying the songs...great breakdowns!
Another great reaction and break down of a great tune by a great band.
Pau is next level.
Phil is Canadian. That makes him cool like me. Phil is in a relationship with a Mexican. That makes him cool like me. Phil likes The Warning. That makes him cool like me. Conclusion: Phil is cool!
The Warning normal uptempo rock is what we live on. The Pau ballads are just the cherry on top. I get a bit emotional every time I hear 23. If I am lucky, I will get to hear it live in person.
Cheers Phil for the reaction/breakdown. Looking forward to hearing about your experience with The Warning live in concert soon.
Fantastic breakdown as always Phil. Two things to mention. First - from the very moment that I was exposed to The Warning (their second TedX performance, back in 2017) I saw that Pau is very dramatic in her movements. She often resets her body and emotes with her hands and shoulders as a dancer would. The only item that I wish you had mentioned are the harmonies in this song. On some verses, Dany sings a falsetto over Pau’s lead and on others she sings in a lower register while Pau goes high. Interested in your thoughts on this.
The angst of that bridge gets me every time. It perfectly captures the personal tragedy of unrequited love. Thank Phil. I look forward all week for your videos!
Thanks for going music nerd on these, I'm here for it. FAR too many reactors are just someone nodding their heads to a song and saying "cool, liked it. Thnx, like, subscribe, turn on notifications, share and comment"
Agree. Phil is one of the 3 reactors I actually felt compelled enough to sub to
@@LorraineBaker-vm9vl Who are the other 2? Always on the lookout for quality stuff. For me, The Charismatic Voice is definitely in there.
@@Cuckoorex Yup! The Charismatic Voice is the 2nd. There was a funny exchange in Phil's Choke reaction video where Elizabeth from TCV actually commented on my pinned comment saying Phil is like Elizabeth's unruly younger brother. Now TWA is trying to push Elizabeth to collab with Phil 😂
The 3rd is Knox Hill. He mostly does rap and hiphop, but he dabbles in other genres too. Also funny enough, some people have commented saying Phil is like the Knox Hill of rock.
Knox Hill was actually one of the channels that inspired me to start my channel!
I love Pau's voice, I've been a fan for four years (I found some of their UA-cam videos in 2020 during the dark days) and I'm so impressed with her ability to sing lead and drum. She has said in interviews she treats her voice like a fifth limb, coordinating that with her arms and legs. Her stamina, breath control and strength (she only slapped Cathy TWA will know that😄) is epic
I'm a drummer it's going to hurt..ouch..👋
i think the song is about the year 2023, not the age, anyway, REVENANT is another amazing song in teatro metropolitan that PAU sings, amazing reaction/review as always my dude
That thought had crossed my mind, too. In most places, 23 would be at least a couple of years older than drinking age. So maybe the lyric referring to the year 2023 makes more sense.
This is the comment i was looking for. 23 is about the year 2023, not the being 23 years old. Pau is born in 2002, so in 2023 she'd be 21 and barely old enough to drink... in the U.S.
@@WhatIsAName8080 I seem to recall her saying in some interview or another that one could take it either way. Basically that number was chosen because it "sounded better" compared to other "twenty-something" numbers and sort of matches the other lyrics in the song, phonetically and singing-wise. She said it doesn't have any particular significance, and IIRC it was initially "21" but it just didn't sound quite right when sung in context.
A great reaction to a great band performing a great song.
Warning! Fan Boy Alert 🤘🏻 Hells Yes, Mr Zero!
As usual, great reaction Phil. Keep on your great unfolding of The Warning to us who are not as illustrated as you. We understand a lot this way. Well done!
Phil, you are absolutely amazing in your analyses. You are absolutely, no question, second to none. Based on the views and likes of your Warning reactions, you're not going anywhere. I've literally watched your subscription level from like a thousand rise to 8.64k and rising every time I visit.
100% agreed. I subbed to Phil when he was only at around 300 subs a few months ago, but I just knew right away from the first video that he would skyrocket. There's literally no one else doing what Phil does. For rock, at least.
Some people have been calling Phil the Knox Hill of rock. (KH being one of the biggest reactor/breakdown channels for rap). As much as I want to gatekeep Phil to The Warning (lol), he's gonna skyrocket even higher when he starts doing other bands.
@@LorraineBaker-vm9vl I don't remember exactly when I subbed. But his sub-count was lower than one would have expected. The Warning Army is vast and powerful. I am proud to be a member. And I fully support Phil and look forward to every one of his reactions of The Warning.
Notice that the guitar that Dany plays is sliding up and down the frets, mirroring the emotion of the ups and downs of longing and of despair about which Pau is singing. Along the way, Ale is providing a bass line similar to a heartbeat. Amazing arranging and composition, not to mention the performance. They are fabulous in their attention to musical elements which amplify the lyrics and the emotion of Pau's voice.
With this song everybody focus in Pau's vocals that sometimes overlook Dany's vocals contrast to Pau's. The song is about unrequited love more than a breakheart song
This song and pretty much all of the songs Pau sings lead on, just seem to hit in the feels just little bit harder!
They all practice hours when they aren’t on tour. Pau also runs on a treadmill to condition for the physical part of drumming while singing
That's really interesting.
Thanks for that context. I've always wondered how drummers who single can do both at the same time.
I'm a bass player (45 years) and I never learned how to sing while playing except very occasional back-up vocals. Unfortunately, I didn't believe singing was important to me until I was already like 40 years in, I really wish I would have when first learning bass and music overall.
Absolutely EPIC live performance!!
Pau is an awesome drummer, singer, songwriter, keyboard/piano player and person!
Awesome Dany's sliding riffs!
Viva The Warning!! ⚡⚡⚡
I have been waiting for this one! It's such a great example of Pau's emotional, vulnerable vocals, and it has a different vibe from everything else on the Error album.
Another awesome TW reaction. Love your nerdiness!
Chills. Chills every time I listen to this song. Not to mention Dad mode kicks in as I remember a bad break up my daughter had at about Pau's age. Such a great song, one of my many favorite songs by The Warning.
If they play this in CDMX, I'm going to cry hard, with zero shame
I understand where you say she varies the degrees of when she sings the drums are not as pronounced and vice versa but I will always revert back to Disciple with that drum fill in middle where she rolls thru hard while singing without a change where the song mandates not being able to hold back either simultaneously. Look at that one-of-those-moments where Pau, even being counted in as a singing drummer, stands out compared to most. You don't get a Drummer Of The Year award for just being at an equal level. ⚠⚡⚡⚡
Cool! Awaiting for more from The Warning!
Makes me cry. Every single time.🤘
I think that Pau really can express a lot of vunerability with her voice so this song fits her like a glove (i don't know how she can do this and play the drums at the same time). The aragement of the song is constructed to emphatise this emotions so they play olny to serve this propurse, not a single note is out of place.
I can't recommend "Sharks" from the Pol'and'Rock show enough. The Wacken one had some audio issues on the stream that were fixed for the Poland one. The live performance is so much better than the studio version, I'm obsessed.
In every The Warning song....one can hear Ale's bassline doing Ale's bassline things. 🤘⚡🔥
Weekly Phil doze 🤓👍🏻
Your reactions are the best. 🙂
My favorite Reactor and one of my favorite TW songs! What a fantastic day it is! ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
I love teh whole performance at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX!
Another fine technical breakdown. Keep up this style of "Reaction" to The Warning songs. You are making us all smarter. We should start calling you "The Charismatic Phil". The Charismatic Voice (Rebecca Zarhof), here on UA-cam, does this also but spends most of her time focusing on singing voices and techniques. She's done well with a similar approach.
I love Dany's guitar work on this track. That as well as doing their typical first verse to second tweaks when Dany fills out the vocal melody, slid neatly beneath Pau's lead.
Phil, eres un excelente maestro 🤘😁. Y muy divertida tu forma de explicar, Muchas Gracias!!!

Loved this Phil...love this song, always enjoy your short and sweet breakdowns with the Ladies. 😁😁. Pau's incredible talents shine through big time with this one, full on passion and emotion when singing this great song and we always talk about the "Dany Face" but how about the Pau face, so damn expressive, she is fully committed to her craft. Cheers and stay well Phil hope you get a new Mic stand.
Survive at Teatro is you want to see them not only have fun, and easily one of the best jam sessions as an ending. Also most don't see it, but them moving in sync purposefully to the song just adds more fun and joy to it 🤘
Now time to start this reaction lol
LETS GOOOOOOOOO 🔥🤘⚡
This evening, The Warning plays in Melkweg Amsterdam. And I'm going there to hear/seeing them for the 3 time. They never dissipoint, it will be a great concert!
Speaking as someone who has both played percussion and sung (though not much at the same time) for many years, I still find myself impressed by anyone who can play a drum set well, regardless of whether they sing at the same time or not. Obviously it gets easier once you can commit it all to muscle memory but the practice takes so much coordination.
If you're seeing them with Evanescence. Then you gotta focus to their newest songs. You'll be listening to Consume, Sharks, Six Feet Deep, escapism, etc.
The Pol'and Rock is a great live show.
Hola Phil! Estaba esperando este video! Gracias! Ellas son creativas, inteligentes, disciplinadas y muy trabajadoras, y eso se refleja es sus canciones y presentaciones. The Warning! Lo tiene todo!

My only criticism is that they are only once a week !!!!!
As an aged (old fart !) fan of The Warning, I am especially enjoying your journey with them !!! They are instrumental 😉 in keeping Rock & Roll alive (in '23 ?) !!!!!
One of my favorites! Thanks for doing this one 👍
Thank you for another great reaction and breakdown. So glad you also picked up on the guitar riff. I feel it adds to the feeling of the song even in its simplicity. Great all round musicianship. ⚡️🔥
Don't worry. You don't demystify it because we're trying to understand how she might be doing it. And it's one thing to understand how she does it and another to perform it at the level she does. (That's why we like your videos.)
Also, even if they don't always compose around the voice, they're not going to shoot themselves in the foot by doing an extremely complex drum fill while singing.
We understand that what they do is achieved through practice and discipline, in addition to their natural talent.
Thanks for your excellent breakdown Phil! Cant wait to see which song is next
A reaction i would really love to see is "Black Holes". Especially in the acoustic version.
Its a pretty deep and quiet song in comparison, but it really shows of Paus voice.
There was a private show in UK where they did a bunch of songs they usually dont play in an acoustic version.
ua-cam.com/video/PU2prXv_nV0/v-deo.htmlsi=ddFc9A3doar125Fe
(The Warning, UK Private acoustic Show)
Similar, "Revenant" is a more quiet and serious song too. Also Pau singing.
Just bring Tissues.
Agree Black Holes is great and it was cool to see her play it in that UK show, but the Dakota video of that song is something else really. Love to see them play and Pau is just an amazing songwriter and performer 🤘
Pau has been wearing that headset mic from nearly the beginning of her drumming. I don’t know exactly how far back it goes but you can see it in some of their early videos. Experience is a great teacher. You’ve already done “Narcisista” so all’s left is “Revenant”, another ballad where she comes down off her throne. It’s beautiful!🤟⚡TWA
She is wearing the headset mic in the Sandman cover.
Am I the onliest one? But Pau hits me with this song so heavy, anytime i listen too it, it really touches something deep inside me.
For sure. That faint echo track fits perfectly too.
