Good job man, that looked like one scary dude! I really liked this commentary, that would be crazy to see you do the ADCC trials. I had my first competition on October 1st, I managed to win bronze in the 236lb+ division, white belt. I weighed in around 240, and that “+” after 236 is no joke! These guys were huge!
Lost my first few matches because my stand up wasn’t where it needed to be, and couldn’t escape mount. Had a few moments where I could’ve turned it around, but I got too excited and sloppy with my sweeps/takedowns.
I was the very last match of the competition, and I got somebody that was actually around my size and experience level, managed to win 12-2.
It was a surreal, but amazing experience and a lot of fun. Since the competition I’ve felt significantly better at jiu jitsu, and I’ve gained an assertiveness that I lacked before. Maybe it’s just a bronze Newbreed medal, but that shit felt like winning Worlds to me.
    Thanks!

I competed for the first time 6 months ago as a whitebelt in the biggest event here in Sweden (Nordic Open, spring edition) and I took home gold in both my weight and the open class and recieved my blue belt. Now 6 months later I went back to the same competition (fall edition) and I messed up in my weight class and lost in the semifinal on points but I redeemed myself with a win in the open weight class. Thank you for your videos! They have really helped me to get better at bjj. Much love!

Only regret I have was I didnt continue competeing since college. Felt amazing to be on the mat head to head again! Didnt win match, but was competitive. That was awesome to watch. I'd love to see a tutorial on lockdown escapes considering that opening clip of Cesar's. I have long legs and still find it incredibly annoying when caught it in it. It's also disconcerting because it can wreak havoc on the knees when trying to escape. Some of the "simple" escapes are no bueno against folks with a good lockdown too.

Seems you out wrestled him standing up, really set the pace and tone of the match. I'm Really surprised with that slick roll at the end. You Made this look easy and I can tell you as a heavyweight myself, I've been submitted many times by this guy. He is no slouch. I'm probably the most muscular and strongest guy at my gym. Getting owned by 195lb technical folk on the regular. No shame in it at all. Great video.
