Beecher becoming leader by making stuff happen.
Tony adding so much flavor.
Matt playing a great grumpy old guy. Don't know if it's acting or natural, but it fits.
Skyla and Neely should definitely be braver and willing to speak up in character. They contribute well when they do.
Good job by Beecher taking leadership of the party and carrying the story forward. By acting as the spokesman on his own initiative, he is modeling to the new players how to role-play his character Olin with the right motivation to get the plot going. The others players still haven't got the hang of "not letting their individual quirks interrupt the flow of the story" as presented by the DM using the various NPCs. To Beecher: Keep up the good work!
Thank you for this feedback. We try to read all the comments, even if they are off-the-air, and the positive comments help guide the new players.
18:58 Matthew's role-playing is really good when he just goes for it. Like it really does bring something to the group.
Definitely one of the best episodes so far, like there was no combat it was just solid role-playing. Beecher and Tony were class as always, would be cool to hear more from Skyla and Neely next session but yeah really cool that Matthew was getting more into it.
Beecher OG!! He knows how to play.
I like the comment from one of the players who did dm before and didn't care to split the party
I love Bill's outfit. Also CHINCHILLA fur? Jeez. I was not prepared for dead chinchillas to be brought up
Neither were the chinchillas
I used to have a dead chinchilla 😐
Dude did you notice Bill went full Void Monk? HMMMMMM 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I'm still waiting for Willie and/or Trixie to show up.
18:14. The exact moment Matthew's Ritalin wears off.
This is already way better than season 2! I really enjoyed season 1 as well. Having not played d&d before- i am learning a lot from watching these. Such as what i should be worried or continuous about and things that i shouldn’t really get hung up on as some do, such as minute and non necessary details.
Me 2, i want to play d&d really badly but where i live nearly no one plays, especially at my age😢😢
Tom Vanvuchelen i know bro, i had a guy from work talk about d&d and he thought about letting me play. Then bc of other bad players he let join he ultimately told me no. Then another situation was at a card shop there was a group and i tried to ask if i could join but their excuse was that they where in the middle of a campaign. Sadly tho they didnt try inviting me to the next session. Now luckily i made a friend that wants to try out being a dm so soon ill get to have a great experience. I hope you get the chance one day as well!!!
You can play online through many different virtual tabletops, through text or voice chat.
Yes! Now we're getting somewhere. The group's starting to pull together. Nice, some players taking charge and pushing the story forward ;)
*One suggestion:* don't time-out / "meta moment" so much. If it makes sense to ask a question of an NPC or discuss with party in character... just do it! It's called a "Role-Playing" Game for a reason. Imagine a football or basketball game with a 'time-out' every five minutes... it will suck. lol :P
Just again, Bill's such a good DM. Seems as if he's changed his strategy this season. Constantly reading the group, always 2-steps ahead... subtle. I'll say no more...
fourdotsYT this is exactly what I was thinking. Meta moments are used to get insight on the game, not take action
Also points to Bill for maintaining table order
As Charles-Edouard Savard said the opening theme this season is awesome. Secondly, no matter if it happened or it was a word of mouth that villagers were injured or killed Neely's Oath of Vengeance would not allow her not to take this quest. Not only is Bill the DM overlord of Chicago but the Master of Cliffhangers.
Great roleplaying of beecher and tony... but a lot of crosstalk this time. the story is also super intriguing allready.
Great session again, Beecher will make a great leader of this group. Way to go everyone.
Beecher keep it up. Making the show interesting and entertaining 👌
DUDE. this is probably one of my favorite episodes. Tony with the roleplaying!!! Damn!!! He really sold it. Like a LOT.
beecher is a master at this game
yes indeed
Mathew was good in this episode, I feel the characters should have some more time to get introduced to each other
Bill Allan you rock, and the group is getting better. Keep 'em coming, please.
Bill play as a necromancer! Or the boss is a necromancer... the nercomancer is probably the overlord of the capital... Bill is the overlord... THIS IS CONFIRMATION PEOPLE! There is a circle of spell casters probably organising this. Imps are normally fimliars... I shouldnt be doing this as an experienced Player/Dm.
LoL!!
I should have commented the first time I saw it, but your intro is really really good! Its a great job! Love the show!
Matt, if you smash the guitar in game tony will not be able to play it out of game.
I'm very surprised you highlighted this comment Bill.
Bill i love what your doing with this. having students learn through the RPG is some thing more teachers should try using. Keep them going.
I tried introducing my bottom set year 8s to d&d (this is UK measurement, they were about 12 years old). One or two of them were inspired, but most of them were too angry and ADD and they couldn't concentrate long enough to produce a character. I think the system was too complicated (d&d 3.5) and the kids were too generally angry with life (they were real problem kids and d&d was not popular at the time). Still, I would try it again with slightly more advanced kids. Character design is a tough start to introduce d&d, with remedial kids I think (on reflection) it would be better to just give them all pre-designed characters and try to get to the interactive parts of the campaign. I enjoy the parts where the kids learn about real life vicariously. I.e., last season they learnt that hard decisions happen in war (when the guard went off in the night to warn the capital - you could see the penny drop and the silence as they knew they had condemned a man to death). Also (last season) it was gratifying to see Carl treat the tower guard like a child (telling him not to worry) and then Beecher giving him the information he asked for. Seriously Carl, this man uses a sword for a living, it is his job to go and die for his king. Well done Beecher for being in character and roleplaying well, this excellence continues into this season. Good job all ! I feel like the kids are learning life lessons through the medium of the game.
MATT?? MATTHEW?? YOU SELL THE GRUMPY OLD MAN THING SO WELL?? AHHHH-
OMG HIS HANDS ARE GLOWING
tony is fantastic as roleplaying
Tony is a larger ego version of Carl , tries a bit to hard , but its fun to see his mannerism and control tactics .vs everyone and agitation toward Matt. The guitar timing is priceless its well timed … Cause for agitation or practical character development ?? (lol) Good stuff Bill.
Thanks brother!
I like him, I mean, yeah he does go a little too hard sometimes, but I feel he plays a bard well (even without the guitar)
Hold on. Would the scythe go with the city guard? He is a hexblade so his scythe is a sentient agent of his patron. It might even be insulted that he tried to leave it with the city guard without asking it first.
Good point - we shall see what it knows and why it complies...
Thank the gods they let the Captain's estates stand! :P love this series. As always, great stuff to watch while eating or hanging around. I hope the rest of this season is this good :)
Two things: 1) good job, H. Beecher; 2) Chill with the meta-moments kids. (Yes, I know this was '18, but I also know future players are working behind the scenes, reading this.)
Always a good call. It does get better next season.
@@BillAllanWorld Bill, I'm still loving this. I bought some Skullsplitter dice and gave you guys a shout-out.
You can help the police solve a mystery or you can be like the guys and season 2 and burnt down the reevs house or Hangout at the boneyard with a back door pirate and the Willie Stroker
Never split the party !!!!!
Edit: as an experienced group of players we thought it would be useful to split the party so the best fighter & most powerful mage went ahead to form a beachhead & the rest follow later, it was a disaster, we (I was the fighter) ended up fighting all the bad guys by ourselves and the rest of the party desperately tried to get to us to help us. It made the encounter much more difficult & we nearly died. Ergo, NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY.
Loved it! Thanks for a great intriquing story, really looking foreward as to where this will lead. No matter my last comment , i still love you people for doing this!! :) And Bill, i am also learning alot from your way of DM'ing, thumbs up for you :)
Season 2 murders and villains tying to be heroes. Season 3 true heroes.
Yes
Ready to see what kind of trouble they get into today
Stop calling Meta-Moments when the role-playing kicks in to high gear!
I agree there are way to many. But keep in mind they are High School students. All but 1 of them this is their first time playing regularly, Beecher being the only one that has played regularly and it shows. They might have a question on what they can or can not do so I do not mind.
agree
I really like that most of them have pets :)
Too many meta-moments time-outs for a 45 minutes session, just sayin’
We hear you (and the many others). I'm trying to come up with a way for them to only use 1 Meta Moment each. It's getting better...slowly...
@@BillAllanWorld Also, they are calling "meta" to simply talking to each other as players. A IRL player trying to win a IRL discussion by convincing another player's character with a charisma roll is meta; pausing the game just to ask about a rule is not. You'll find a solution, they are clever kids.
Am I the only one that thinks the constable should have been eating a sweet roll?
Yess
Oh good lord that one girl is.... Hopefully from this point on you'll get people who actually want to play. I would love to see you DM with a "regular" group, experienced RPers who enjoy the game.
I hate that I'm so far behind, but did they forget that they have one tied up? That's the first thing I would have looked at. Aaand resume.
WAIIITTT I HAVE A GREAT IDEA we should make a discord with everyone in it annnddd the viewers should be invited tooo! maybe one of the players knows how to run a discord server oOo
Great video guys!
We love your videos!
Thank you! We love the community you have built!
very cool ep can't wait for the next one, also would you ever write the adventure so other groups can play it ?
Yes indeed. We're still working through the legal elements, but the long-term plan is to publish the entire world AND dozens of adventures.
@@BillAllanWorld Can't wait to DM your adventures !!
At 46:53 the DM says “Please use the utmost indiscretion...”. I’d be hell yeah! Turn this “b” upside down.
LoL
Finally some team work
Skyla is the mom of the party.
The 2 players closest to Bill seems bored/uninterested but other than that not too bad so far.
ask for diplomatic immunity!
44:15 no improvement with Neely: saying meta and then asking how others will know they are authorized when this question is 100% valid while in character. Hope she gets a ‘meta’ quotum in the next episode. 😁Bit like challenges in the NFL.
yeah, understandable.
Still loving this series, I know the RPing gets better so it's easier to overlook the stuff that is a little annoying.
Dungeoonnss & Dragoonnss!
I wounder if there is like a fantastic beast like sect in the district....🤔🤔🤔 or a cult. Cult
26:26 🤣
LoL

Please try not to make dice towers. The dice are difficult to pick up when they are needed and they can get lost on the table or fall on the floor. Try also not to speak at the same time.
my guess is pass without trace for what happened, inb4 the bbeg is a corrupted druid (can't wait to see if my guess is right lol) could still be a ranger or cleric, omg corrupted cleric of the water temple deity :O
I really want to watch the lives, but I feel obligated to make sure i watch in order. It's easier to enjoy a show as it gradually changes. But to watch something that's such a big change to what youre used to can take away your entertainment value as a viewer. Im trying to catch up as fast as I can!
i just hate the matt type of player
At like 22:00 minutes in, you're really overlapping seasons now? Not a bad thing but ok.
I wouldn't necessarily call it overlapping. However, the 2nd and 3rd seasons take place in the same geographical region and same timeline. So, I suppose there is a possibility of running into characters from season 2.
You have 5 PHB's but no Xanathar?
That song that Tony Started playing around 12:49 was really pretty. Was he just making it up or can I find that somewhere?
not sure
Beecher is the best
Does the blue shirt kid have ocd?
I believe he said earlier in the episodes that he has ADD.
something like that
