Grew up downtown in the 80's. So much has changed. Old Town and Delano are true gems and the Epic Center (The tallest building in the state) was built in '89. The Intrust Bank Arena built in the late 00's is very nice as well.

@@RealKansasMan Yeah, I recently did some work up by Meridian & 53rd North. Didn't know that was becoming urbanized until I went up there. We used to hang out at Crystal Lake just south of there back in the 80's (It's been a high-end housing edition since the 90's) and it was the countryside back then. It's amazing to me that Wichita grew well beyond that. My dad used to live on the edge of town in the 40's. Back then, that was Central & West street. He once told me that it was all wheat fields west of West Street. That boggles my mind because it's a concrete jungle there now. LOL.

I've discovered that Kansas is kinda flat. I went through Kansas years ago. We went through a storm and it was some of the most vivid lightning I've ever seen. It was scary. We had to wait the storm out at a service station. We ordered sweet tea at a restaurant and back then the waitress didn't know what we were even talking about. We taught her how to make it. She said several travelers had ask for it. Thanks for sharing. God bless 🙏🕊️

Interesting how sweet tea was never heard of by a waitress when you were here, because sweet tea is very common here as well as unsweet. Thunderstorms and lightning storms here are extremely intense for the most part. I just wish I had many of the storms on camera that I've seen over the years so I could publish them for others to see. As for Kansas being mostly flat, yes, it depends on what part of the state you are in. I know Kansas is the 7th flattest state in America with Florida ranking as number one flattest. Have a good one!

@@RealKansasMan it was back in the 90's. They had tea but you had to add your own sugar. Here in NC we add the sugar while the tea is hot then add the ice. This method makes sure the sugar dissolves 👍

@@tammydear8057 That's how I've always known to make sweet tea, but I have been to some restaurants who's made their sweet tea by mixing the sugar after the ice, which I hate because the sugar falls to the bottom.

Heyyy KM... thanx fer lettin' us ride along again... was very surprised that there wasnt much traffic fer the size of city that i always imagined Wichita 2 b... looks like a very clean city that would b easy 2 git around in... one problem in this vid tho... u were goin' so fast u didnt stop at McD's & order me a caramel frappe 😋 but that can wait fer another time cuz i know u were probably in a hurry 2 git this posted...🤣enjoyed seein' the sights... thanx fer sharin'... stay safe & healthy... take care... ♪♫♪ 🤗

There is normally way more traffic than what was shown in this video. Honestly not sure why the traffic was very slim, but it was that day. Wichita is a very nice city overall and has some astonishing areas that I need to film someday soon. There is a lot of major things there to see and do and the cost of living of very low compared to other cities in different states. If I do go to McDonald's, I go for their mocha frappe. Again, glad you enjoyed! Thanks for the feedback!

heyyy KM.... fergot 2 mention... really loved those brick streets u went down... they must be over 100 yrs old at least... i would think so anyway... we have some here in my city that r over 100 yrs old problem is the "city" decided 2 pave over them many yrs ago but left 2 of streets unpaved... i love them.. makes it so quaint but another problem is they're in the so-called warehouse part of town... as far as i'm concerned they should strip the asphalt off the bricks that r paved & leave 'em natural especially since it's in the historical part of town... anyway, jest remembered i fergot 2 mention it.. stay safe & healthy... take care... ♪♫♪ 🤗😷

There are many more of those brick streets there, and yes, they are extremely old and date way back to the very early days of the city. Where you seen the brick roads, that area is known as "Old Town". It's loaded with restaurants, clubs,, hotels, shopping and bars. That area is normally crowded everyday/night with people. It's also a much larger area than what I filmed. I should've driven through all of Old Town, but maybe will another time. I agree with what you said on stripping the asphalt off of the bricks, because bricks are much better overall and lasts decades compared to asphalt.

Wichita once was a nice place to live. Kellogg-the busy road in the beginning has become a raceway for road rage, shootings, and accidents. Downtown is rundown in most areas. Homelessness rules the daytime and the gangs rule the night. DO NOT go to Old Town on the weekends especially at night. It was once a fun, clean, family friendly place. Not anymore. It's become the new Topeka...only bigger.
