The Thunderbolts are pretty underrated and the idea of supervillains playing the role of superheroes either for personal gain (like Karla Sofen and Fixer do) or because they genuinely like being superheroes is an interesting one. Both Abe and Melissa are my favorite Tbolts and I love their relationship.
For such a low villain, Abner Jenkins has a REALLY good story. He goes from being a failure as a small time villain to finding his true purpose as a well respected hero
You give Lee too much credit. His style of comic book production was to have the artist plot, draw and include footnotes on the proposed dialogue of the story. He famously let the cat out of the bag one day when he wasn't taking credit for birthing HIMSELF and said of Ditko and Kirby, "I didn't even know what the issue was about until it arrived". How else could he have "WRITTEN" twenty-plus comics a month? The proof is in the pudding. Check out how many new characters were created after Ditko and then Kirby left. The number is zero! And when he actually found himself having to script something, he handed off the chores to three or four other "writers" and stopped "writing" altogether within a couple of years. Lee WAS a good salesman though.
I love Marvel's B-List villains like The Beetle, Speed Demon and Crimson Dynamo. Ever think of doing an episode on The Golden Age Whizzer or Nova's original series? I loved The Comet and Diamondhead.
Damn, that was thorough. I'm an old school 90s dork and well-versed in comics, but my kid bought the Mach 1 figure and asked me, who is this guy? I didn't know and looked it up. I love Marvel, but their storylines get so convoluted that it makes me appreciate what the cinematic universe has done to wrangle the storylines. But you nailed it with the research. Thanks.
Janice Lincoln is truly an example of someone so smart behaving so galactically stupid. Clearly the apple didn't fall far from the tree. But of course when your dad is a man who is a crime boss and believes in the "might makes right" principle, I can see where the moral ambiguity comes from.
Abner Jenkins and Janice Lincoln are underrated. I hope they show up more in the future... Also, given how he was mentioned a few times in this video, any chance for an origin of Graviton?
Even though I know the origin of both villains known Baron Zemo (and his son aka Phoenix and later Baron Zemo of the Thunder Bolts)I think marvelites would like to know the difference between the two Zemos. This is my 4th MM today. Excelsior.
Yeah, the younger one looks up to his father but doesn't seem to be an actual Nazi, after all, Songbird's Jewish and he only got mad at her *after* she and the other backed out of his plan.
I have a comic in my loft that shows The Hulk killing The Beetle without a second thought. He just squished him. Which incarnation of The Beetle was that then? 😊

@Mark Allen Don’t worry 1940s Marvel has that (Even though he wasn’t created by Stan Lee)
Pretty much for Spider-Man’s Rogues Gallery and other Spider-Man supporting characters. You gotta love Stan!

Beetle is pretty damn cool.
I hope he appears in the MCU.
@Anton Issa I doubt it
@@antonissa8345 Beetle is technically already in the MCU. See the Spider-Man Homecoming tie-in comic.
I started reading comics in the early 70s and as lame as Beetle was, I loved him. If buy any issue he was in for a while. I wanted that suit.
thanks some much merry I love watching the origins of this these technological villains like fixer the the phalanx
What memories it brings, Beetle was one of my favorite Spidey villains! Great work Marvelite!

I like how they got so tired increasing the number on his armour they just said “fuck it he’s mach X now”
One of my favorite characters!

She's smart in many ways, but mostly dumb and violently entitled.

Janice showed up in Spider Man Far from Home, I'm hoping she returns as the Beetle.
The Beetle.
He ain’t a villain. He’s just tryin’ to get paid.
Beetlemania: **exists**
The real beetles: Do We MeAn NoThInG tO yOu?!
Question: Have you done a video on The Scourge yet...would love to see that one
Can you talk Taskmaster origin
Janice Lincoln could been a better Daredevil or Moon Knight villain.
Can we please have The Origin of the enforcers
...man throughout the vid I got the feeling there are more "The Beetle(s)" than the amount of Iron Man suits Tony Stark has! XD
Yay! My favorite Spider-Man baddie.
2:50 Zemo Jr's not really a Nazi like his dad was, or wasn't until Nic Spencer shoved hik back in with Hydracap and Red Skull.
You will note that he wasn't ever overly cruel to Songbird despite the fact she was Jewish.

Amazing
OMG comics are really "No One's Ever Really Gone"

It was so cringeworthy when they swapped his race. They did the same with the Punisher years ago.
