The Arctic Autumn Starts Well For Me - New Scenes From Akureyri North Iceland

I deserve a good autumn due to how the summer turned out for us Icelanders, and it looks as I'm getting what I asked for. I shot this during the last day of September and first day of October and the first scenes show the village Hrafnagil before I move into the capital of north Iceland, Akureyri: Population 20.000 and we are only 80km away from the Arctic Circle so the winters can be harsh although the climate here is way more people friendly than in Reykjavik.

Wow, that was beautiful and the music fits very well! The warmer, sunnier times seem so beautiful. How do people deal with the long dark and cold months? Are people simply "used to it" or is there intentional behavior to deal with it? It must be so joyful when the nice weather returns and the contrast must help. Thanks for sharing your story 🙂

Stunning!! Autumn is lovely everywhere, somehow. (Well, in climates with 4 seasons). It's that golden light on the land as it also turns to gold. I wonder how many cuttings the farmers get in Iceland? I hope they are able to get more than one out of that short growing season. Granted, they don't have a lot of livestock, but those animals need hay through a very long winter season.

Hi, I was passing the road on Hellisheiði where you took the thermal images. The steam coming from the ground was incredible today, and Hveragerði in general was more active than I have seen it in my 16 years here.
