This song broke me when i first heard it when it came out. I was a head banger back then. Bone Thugz was my gateway rap group which led to me listening to Biggie, Tupac, I-Tea, oh the memories.
Wow! I've lived in South Central Los Angeles for 66 years (my whole life) I thought I knew the music of this group. I loved it because it was so lyrical. However, I never heard this song even though I loved the whole West Coast rap scene. Thank you BJ for your explanation and guidance. Good music is timeless. This song is still prevalent today. 💜💕you and Asia!
Intro: Bone Thugs-N-Harmony are from Cleveland, born and raised there till 1993, when the group moved to Los Angeles as teens. Soon after, they hooked up with Eazy-E, and signed to Ruthless Records They're known as both, a Midwest and West Coast group, as a result. There are 5 members: Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, and Flesh Bone (also known as Flesh-N-Bone). The members consists of two brothers (Layzie, Flesh) a cousin (Wish), and their two best friends (Krayzie, Bizzy) since childhood, but all refer to each other as brothers. On some records, you'll hear all 5 members, and on others, you may only hear 2-4. The group is known for being pioneers/goats of fast rapping (along with Twista), and are credited for being the innovators behind melodic rap. They're also one of the biggest selling and longest touring Hip Hop groups of all-time. A lot of what we hear in Hip Hop today from our biggest stars is influenced by them. The group is still together today, touring, and have plans for collectively releasing a new album in the future. "Tha Crossroads" broke The Beatles 32 year old Billboard record (1996) and won a Grammy. The song was a remix of their original record, "Crossroads", which came out in 1995. "Crossroads" was a tribute to one of their friends (an additional member of Bone) who passed. After losing Eazy and several more loved ones, the group decided to remix the song as tribute, and it ended up becoming one of the biggest records of the 90s. Bone has so many classic hits though, so if you're gonna react to more, I'm sure the community will gladly point you in the right direction. Start off with their early records first. Thuggish Ruggish Bone (their breakthrough record) Foe Tha Love of Money (dirty version--if you're doing video) 1st of Tha Month (dirty version) East 1999 (dirty version---try to do dirty versions of their records whenever you can) The guys also have legendary records with both Biggie (Notorious Thugs) and Tupac (Thug Luv) Those are my suggestions to start off with.
I was in 8th grade living in NY and only later that I was like "oh shit.... they're from CLEVELAND!" Just cos in that era everyone was NYC or LA (I thought). Respect to the Land and to Bone Thugz. Also EZ E gave them their shot and wanted them to move to LA... hence the heavy respect to E who died before this. Nobody has ever come close to their style since. Love this reaction (as usual)
Love love 80s 90s HH.. My high school era early mid 90s.. unbelievable time for HH music.. Who remembers Yo MTV Raps with Ed Lover and Dr Dre?! 😎👊 I don't care for today's stuff ..
He was the reaper…the reaper is the angel of death. He’s angelic, he’s not good or bad. He’s simply a guide…he never brought death, he was just there when death arrived. Epic video still
This song was for Eazy E after he passed Eazy was the one who discovered bone thugs and gave them their break by signing them to ruthless records. This was their way of giving love and appreciation to E. The angel of death that was Eazy E in the end he was the guy with the raiders hat on RIP Eazy E
This song is gonna get played on my funeral that's actually the only thing in my testament to this point because it helped me through hard times when a few of my relatives died in a relatively short timespan. To me it is the most important song ever!
I loved this song til this day! I’m from a small island in the Pacific and Bone Thugs was popular especially this song.. it reminds me of my brother who transcended back in 97 ❤
This album came out when I was 8. It was my first tape. Me and my sister had to tell my grandma they were a gospel group to get here to buy it for me. Still one of favorite albums of all time! Classic!
They're from my hometown. I met Krayzie because he lived in a suburb near my wife and me, and I took a ride with Wish to see a house he was buying out in the country. The neighborhood they grew up in was basically as portrayed in the video. BJ is right, they were original and super talented - they had their sound. And yeah, I am usually not a big hip hop fan but this song always gives me goosebumps. It is melodically and lyrically genius, even better than the great Gangsters' Paradise.
Different? Ok, they are both 90's hip hop tracks with melodic twists, they both involve a certain among of singing hooks in addition to the rapping, they were both released in 1996, they both won rap a Grammy, although Crossroads won in 1997 despite being released in 1996, and they have both been featured reaction songs by Asia and BJ in the last few weeks. So yeah, they are different songs, but they are certainly within the same genre and time. period. @@MaidIt4lyfe
I will die listening to Bone Thugs. Im 43 I've been listening to them since I was 15 been following them ever since. Bone Thugs every member went through hell during those first few albums. Everything they sing/rap about is shit they've seen, or they have gone through.. They all still have some sad shh goin on... they still don't give up. I am a 100% fan of theirs because of it
This is a great song and helps us to realise that we can't be taking life for granted because we never know when the sands of time for us will run out. So we need to make the most of life and cherish every moment on this planet so we earn our wings when the Angel comes to take us to another realm. I guess there is one place where all will meet one day. See you at the Crossroads. Nice reaction Asia and BJ and glad you got to experience this amazing rap by an equally amazing group Asia ❤️
This song should be as iconic as Gangsta’s Paradise. It probably is held back by the way they rap, but their voices are truly instruments within their music. It makes it so much better.
To answer that question, they got signed by Eazy E as "hustling/stick up kid" teenagers (the story is wild, they went to LA to look for a record deal being they were on the run in Cleveland and called Ruthless Records daily, rapped for him over the phone, and he was about to be doing a show in Cleveland so they had to hustle money up to go back home to meet him backstage at that show, and the rest is history) When they got famous and moved to LA, a lot of their friends/family back in Cleveland started dying (all murdered) and they said it felt like a Gift and a Curse (The game and the losses) They originally made "Crossroad" which was the original album version which is a completely different song, THEN Eazy E died and they did this remix, and it went BIG BIG on the pop charts, while this was huge, the label and their careers were in perile. The "E1999 Eternal album has went Diamond and was re-released with this version after about 6 months ("Tha Crossroads" rather than "Crossroad" after 6 months or so... And at one point there was a 3rd release that had both versions. All in all, Eazy's passing inspired this version, the other version was eerie/more street but still melodic and had its own vibe, but wasn't as POP... I DEF recommend listening to it, it's great also!
I’m from Cleveland and everyone (black, white,Ukraine,Serbs,Russians) we all used to sneak into Peabodys and other night clubs to watch bone thugs before they got big. We were young… 14/15 years old but loved watching them. They were so good and from East Cleveland - which is extremely poor and dangerous. Glad they made it big and got out the gutter
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony are so underrated (They were huge for a while) Then sort of dropped off real shame (Truly talented guys that created there own sound) E. 1999 Eternal massive mainstream album they have (2) Greatest hits album the unreleased version of Breakdown with Mariah Carey is simply awesome ❤❤❤❤👍👍
I was 14 when this song came out (1995) I even went to their concert that year... sooo much fun! That year I had VIP passes (Thx to my older brother). They were sooo damn cool to hang with!!!!First time I EVER got high... NO JOKE!!!!!LMFAO!! :)
Seen them in concert 3 times back in the 90s here in Detroit. Over any other jam I've ever been to- definitely an experience, 💯! Had a great time! They were especially kind to our parents while in the parent room, we were all under age going to these concerts and all while we were down on main floor they housed our parents up above where they were. Some of those shows they also had along- SWV, NAS, Total, Keith Sweat the list goes on! Damn the memories. 😊
The song itself is beautiful. But the video... adds so much more to it. Great reaction guys. This song was played at my cousins funeral, so it really means a lot to me

This song broke me when i first heard it when it came out. I was a head banger back then. Bone Thugz was my gateway rap group which led to me listening to Biggie, Tupac, I-Tea, oh the memories.
Played at my stepbrother's funeral as the last song. I was 18, and he was 23. This song has a special place in my heart.
I've been listen to Bone everyday since they came out. Why do i have tears in my eyes right now?
Thuggish Ruggish Bone (their breakthrough record)
Foe Tha Love of Money (dirty version--if you're doing video)
1st of Tha Month (dirty version)
East 1999 (dirty version---try to do dirty versions of their records whenever you can)
The guys also have legendary records with both Biggie (Notorious Thugs) and Tupac (Thug Luv)
Those are my suggestions to start off with.
Such a beautiful song.
Totally remember this hit! Always played on MTV. Oh, the nostalgia of my teenage years.
Y'all are fantastic!! This song in my opinion was one of the best ever written and performed.
Song forever makes me think of my Granny.
She passed on in January 2009.
I miss you everyday lady.
Eazy E’s force ghost in the video is a great tribute! I grew up on Bone Thugs since elementary school. I’m 36 now and still listen to Bone.
Haven't heard this song for years, but listened so much i still remember all the words...
Love love 80s 90s HH..
My high school era early mid 90s.. unbelievable time for HH music..
Who remembers Yo MTV Raps with Ed Lover and Dr Dre?! 😎👊
I don't care for today's stuff ..
Still, to this day, such a powerful song! I had this on cd! (Showing my age!)
I bought this CD for my daughter and loved it...got to buy my own....the harmonies are amazing.
Dope
2 completely different songs.
@@MaidIt4lyfe So?
@@MaidIt4lyfe yup tru
To answer that question, they got signed by Eazy E as "hustling/stick up kid" teenagers (the story is wild, they went to LA to look for a record deal being they were on the run in Cleveland and called Ruthless Records daily, rapped for him over the phone, and he was about to be doing a show in Cleveland so they had to hustle money up to go back home to meet him backstage at that show, and the rest is history)
When they got famous and moved to LA, a lot of their friends/family back in Cleveland started dying (all murdered) and they said it felt like a Gift and a Curse (The game and the losses)
They originally made "Crossroad" which was the original album version which is a completely different song, THEN Eazy E died and they did this remix, and it went BIG BIG on the pop charts, while this was huge, the label and their careers were in perile.
The "E1999 Eternal album has went Diamond and was re-released with this version after about 6 months
("Tha Crossroads" rather than "Crossroad" after 6 months or so...
New member!! Was in my feed and man I was singing word for word with this song and it never gets old. RIP BONE! 🙏🏼
This is one of them rap classics, man. This song was a trailblazer, in itself
Not the Reaper. An Angel. To guide to the next world
The Reaper is a Angel
Takes souls to crossroads for Judgment for what path they will be set on
I was 14 when this song came out (1995) I even went to their concert that year... sooo much fun! That year I had VIP passes (Thx to my older brother). They were sooo damn cool to hang with!!!!First time I EVER got high... NO JOKE!!!!!LMFAO!! :)
One of those songs that no matter what music you listened to, you stopped and listened to this one.
This song was played at my cousins funeral, so it really means a lot to me
Bone Thugz has remained one of my favorites in the rap genre and still remain to this day. i saw them in concert and they were amazing, passing around drinks and blunts in the first couple rows. it was great lol
Love Bones, Thugs and Harmony !! Watching from Amman, Jordan 🇯🇴!!
The reason I fell in love with music.. and Bone become my fav artists ever!
as a 90's kid i am glad i lived then , we had such a good youth
The ladies singing in the beginning is a group named Tre there from MoThugs Records MoThugs Records is a bunch of artists from Cleveland that Bone started and this video is the very 1st video that cost 1 million dollars to make
When they won their first award there was a warrant for the one member. I’ve always been a fan, I love the harmonies, this was so different when it came out from anything else on the radio. They all were and are still very talented
What era are you guys?
Surprised you didn't even heard of this song.
This is a childhood song.
We witnessed the best rappers this world ever produced. 90s.
Mumbling rappers today are not even close or never will.
See you at the crossroad.
Going on my playlist for best reaction videos. You guys get on there a lot. Only thing that hurts my heart more than this song is seeing Ms. Asia look so sad. Glad BJ is there to hear it with her. And me. And everyone.
Bone Thug songs make you feel really content with your life, which is beautiful
Crazy life we live in...I ust lost my GF of 10 years August 25th 2022 cherish everything you never know when we will go she was only 46 R.I.P. Dena Lynn Mauntel Love you baby and I turned 43 August 20th ...... #Hangovergang 4 LIFE!!!! Love Bone thugs I born and raised in Cincinnati Ohio so they repped our state....Great reaction y'all!!!!
Being from Cleveland. I can tell you in the 90's that crime bill just drove up crime and all your friends were either dying or getting locked up. We used to roll around in the cutlass, thumpin the shit outta this song
They made this song before easy died but once he passed it was changed to be a tribute for easy. Him passing crushed them dudes. They were still in the process of blowing up and easy was a big part of that success plan. They had to start from scratch after he died.
Amazing song no doubt. I'm having this played at my funeral.
He was death, the angel of death. breaks my heart every time i see Eazy.. Bone thugs and Eazy were amazing.
Yo, when this joint came out, it was a wrap. Nobody talked about mortality as the context in rap. This one made you search your soul. And especially after a blunt. Blew me away in 9th grade. Chills.
