I watched a documentary on Family Feud and apparently he was a topical rude it’s all about me star off camera unfortunately. I was shocked when I heard that myself.
Richard was to game shows, or at the very least to the Feud what Johnny Carson was to The Tonight Show. We won’t see another of either guy ever again. I loved Richard’s enthusiasm, charisma and his good heart. The Feud was clearly not just a job to him, it was something fun for him he truly loved to do. You only need to look at his farewell speech when the show ended in ‘85. It was clear as day he loved it, I particularly loved his enthusiasm with his “Survey saaaaays!?” Survey says sad that there’ll never be another Richard. 😥
I grew up watching the show. Though I was a child, it was good to see Richard be so genuine, unique. The contestants of course added to it, but Richard helped it along
yet he was a dickhead behind the scenes, fought Felsher most of the time, would bark at the producers at a new change or a simple error, and got hated by Mark Goodson later on

Richard Dawson did have class. Both Richard and Steve are great because their different and add their own quality. One thing though, with all of the shows I saw I never saw all these technical problems. Some of them were ridiculous.
I liked him when he was on Match Game, and I even liked his performance in The Running Man. But when he was on the Feud, he was a whole other level of great.
I was not a big fan of Ray Combs. He was okay and had his moments. I liked Louie Anderson but I didn't like the way the producers changed the rules (high score wins vs 300/400, fourth question was one strike only) but that wasn't his fault. Richard Karn and John O'Hurley were nice guys but not that funny. Steve Harvey is the only host since Dawson with the right amount of snark, although sometimes he milks a moment longer than he should. But I have to say that again, the producers are my biggest issue with the show - it's almost as if the families are coached to be as outrageous as possible, with many answers in poor taste. Apparently "S&P" (standards and practices) is relatively non-existent now. Harvey's facial responses to some of such answers is the comedic premise on which such outrageousness is based, but I miss the ABC original version.
