EDIT: Actually, the best part is that when Richard came back to host the revival after Combs was fired, the "September" lady came back and revealed that she eventually did have a kid... and they were born in September.

I think Richard Dawson was the best host Family Feud ever had, and watching him laugh at the contestants goofy answers is just entertaining.

I am not sure the answer was actually that funny, but Dawson's giggle fit is contagious.
Right. That's what makes it a good moment.
I would say, it wasn’t so much the answer, as much as the befuddlement he must have felt that any contestant could misunderstand the context of a question that badly, as to give the name of a calendar month as opposed to an answer one would expect, such as “the sixth month”. Her answer due to the misunderstanding subverted all expectations so much, nobody could help but to immediately start cracking up with laughter.
That answer was so absurd it felt like the punchline to a joke out of context, for me.

Thanks to Buzzr for making it possible for people like me to see this episode on the air several months ago when they showed it in the regular rotation on their network. I was able to see it for the first time with absolutely no prior knowledge of this incident. I got to experience it just like the original viewers did and it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I was laughing right along with Dawson at the answer and then laughing at how far he took it.
Family Feud also has a 24 hour network on Pluto TV now.
Because of that answer, the episode was edited for broadcast. even when its on gsn for reruns.
Last time I saw it on GSN a few years ago it had the full bit.
Layton Terry I would like to see the full uncut version of the “September” episode, if it exists. Same thing with the “Press Your Luck” spin battle from August 10, 1984.

By far, the very best host of the show bar none..we always joked that Richard was going to catch something kissing all the ladies and he did..he found a wife on one of the shows, vowed that he wouldn't kiss anyone else and, as I understood it, he never did!! Great times, simpler times and just way more fun!!!

I think there are a lot of young people on here that were not alive when Richard Dawson was on this show. He was known as the kissing bandit so he kissed all women regardless of skin color. He only stopped after he got married. His wife was a contestant at the time he had kids and they asked him why do you kiss other women besides mommy so he stopped. Lots of women wanted to be kissed by him plus no one was offended like people would be today. Plus he was British and could care less what people thought.

This is why I love the classic "Family Feud". Richard's laugh is something else completely unlike Steve Harvey's sarcastic sounding laugh. Man if only buzzr also did Combs reruns (and maybe even reruns of dawson 2.0, john o'hurley (Dawson 3.0 in a way) and more (maybe even Al Roker's Celebrity Family Feud))
