Grandpa spotted a school uniform and assumed she was another friend from school since Gojo lied to him saying he had friends at school. Grandpa was so excited at the possibility of another Gojo friend he didn't realize the school uniform was different.
This anime masterfully does what most romances fail: I can understand how and why one character fell in love with the other. Unlike many self-insert protagonists we have out there, Gojo is full of qualities and characteristics that Marin had time to get to know. It's super easy to believe that she would fall in love with someone like him.
That's because Marin is the self-insert character and Gojo is the author's idea of an ideal young man. The author was a gyaru and an amateur cosplayer when she was young.
@@Mr.Abreu.76 Marin looks more like the author's Self-insertion character than a self-insert character (a character with almost nothing defining him to make it easier for the audience to put themselves in his shoes). Marin has too many characteristics and personality for anyone to be able to put themselves in her shoes. Having said all this, and with Gojo being the author's idealized boyfriend, it is interesting to see how he is not what the media usually portrays as the “ideal boy”. It's cool to see how, in a woman's view, the perfect guy is quite common.
11:37 I love how detailed this show gets. They could've just casually explained what _Flower Princess Blaze!!_ was, but instead they decided to make a whole different anime with its own art style, old TV aspect ratio, and original soundtrack.
The temperature difference between prez, who speaks excitedly in the encounter incident between Juju and Gojo, and Cara, who covers his mouth with his hands and is speechless, is interesting 🤣❤️ Then, the two people who laugh when they are caught by Marin's exciting laughter are too cute!!
For real? I didn't know. This voice actor do so much different voices (Anya, Juju, Frieren, the blonde girl in Doctor Stone, Clarissa in Death Mount Death Play, etc), it's crazy how good she is.
Congrats! You made it passed the most “ecchi” scene on the show lol. Smooth sailing, pun intended, from here forward 😁 Also, Gojo’s cousin is the GOAT, when grandpa mentions the tights she goes to bat for him no hesitation, “oh that’s not a big deal, lots of boys his age have SOMETHING like that”
Yeah calling this show ecchi is a huge stretch and I wonder how it got that stigma with the episode 2 fanservice. People even avoided it because of that moniker sigh.
Juju trying to blackmail Gojo is meant to show how naive she is. She might be one school grade above our leads, but she is still basically a kid, and so are they. the whole story is about his first friendship and her first love.
5:34 glad you remarked about the blushing. Cloverworks really impressed me with the small details in this show, like the blush on Marin's ears or the look of teen malaise in her reflection through the window. It adds a lot to the characters
Honestly one of my favorite romance comedy animes amd I love the two main chars so much. They feel so real and it is super relatable. You root for Gojo through the series and his growth is amazing. And Marin, while being amazing already had something she was extremely passionate about that she couldn't fill until she met him. And that peg meeting the socket sparked a romance that is adorable. Also shame on Cara for never seeing Sailor Moon. I'm a 38 yr old man and I watched it with my sisters lol. And enjoyed it.
Sailor Moon is certainly the Godmother of Magical Girl anime, but I'd say this Princess Lily anime that they want to cosplay from is more like Pre-Cure (Pretty Cure). A pretty major, but more current magical girl anime. With a touch of Cardcaptor Sakura and Tokyo Mew Mew for good measure.
@@robertdelrosario8176 Nah, Madoka Magica is a subversion trope magical girl series. Bringing horror elements to a Magical Girl series. The anime here has more stereotypical Precure storyline tropes.
When it comes to romance, this show is pretty refreshing because of how straightforward the characters can be. As much as I loved Kaguya-sama, I have to admit that it can be frustrating going through three whole seasons before either of the main characters admit that they're in love. But here, Marin realizes her feelings and accepts that she "wuvs Gojo" immediately instead of dragging it out over the entire season.
Tbf in kaguya sama there was never a question about "if" they love each other or will they confess, it was always about "when". And as a manga reader for both the show, oh boy i have some news for u. Not spoiling anything, kaguya did get started as "will be stretched" shows where u expect it to last till end of the manga, but things actually sorted out at mid point. While the dress up darling started with so much refreshing fast paced romance (i do agree on this one). Got a not so great afterwards....

I'm glad the plotline of Sajuna blackmailing Wakana goes out as quickly as it's introduced. Don't let that taint your impression of her character. She's enjoying cosplaying in her own way, too. That's what this series is all about. I can't get enough of Marin being adorable, and that's why she's our Bean Queen.
honestly i hate her character for that, as i have had an experience like it in my life where someone tried to blackmail me with making a false accusation to get me in trouble so that hit hard for me personally
Marin freaked out at the subway station because the poster on the wall behind Wakana was a woman in a traditional wedding dress. And realizing she wuvs him and thinking about marriage short circuited her brain.
its kinda crazy in some places it be more common that women be looking like they are 14 and being in their mid 20s. Japan is one of those places. So much so, that it has seeped into their media and even the AV industry to the point of having its own genre.
The sigh of relief to hear she is older than gojo but she's still 16. Relax guys, it's just a drawing of a fictional character. My wife had the same face from 15 yo when i met her, all the way to her 32 when she started aging just a tiny bit, and she's 152cm tall. Yes, she still gets carded when going to new stores and she buys cooking wine even if she's going around with our 2 yo daughter.
For many fans, me included, the exposure of Juju felt unnecessary. But its also in the manga. What I think is, since this happened in an relatively early stage, the editor wanted to play it save and put in some typical romcom-lucky-accidents-tropes in. I realized since it was a one time only thing in the manga. Their fanservice is normally way more subtle, believable and less forced than in todays episode. But you took it pretty well. Btw, offering to take the bathroom when someone needs to clean, seems to be japanese custom.
This really looked like something an editor would tell the author to do, since the rest of the fanservice in the manga is nowhere in the same line. At least it was not random Tanuki popping out every other scene.
I'll admit to being a bit of a Juju apologist. From her perspective, she found a costume designer - an obvious professional from his workmanship, surely capable of creating the costume she's been aching for for her entire cosplay career - and then when she's trying to visit, she gets soaked through in the rain, bundled into the bath by a well-meaning senior citizen, exposed, and then jerked around by being shown (amazing) dolls instead of the costumes she expected. Then the guy says he doesn't take orders at all, and this was all for nothing. She's panicking and trying to leverage anything she can. Of course she went about things all wrong, but i think it's meant to show that she's about as unused to actually dealing with people as Gojou is. The fact that Gojou has basically decided to do the project on the basis of Juju's need and Marin's enthusiasm helps, as does that we never hear about the blackmail attempt again.
Kinda fun that is pretty much based in reality. A lot of cosplayers famous for dressing (and looking) as elementary/middle school characters are actually well past their 20's. They are just really short, like 4'7" to 4'10".
Yeah, this romance anime is beyond Roxy-tier! I HATE anime like Kaguya-sama, with the non-stop "will they, won't they, will they" dragged along bullshite over multiple seasons. Welcome to creepy world of anime. It is very common troupe to have very young girls be treated like this but they will always conveniently say they are much older so it not "technically" wrong. The funny weird and creepy paradigm tends to be the younger they look the older the age them up, like an 1000 year old elf.
I'd just like to say that while you are right, and anime/manga do tend to abuse this idea, people like "Juju" do exist. My daughter is 23, and could pass herself of for 14-15 fairly easily due to her short stature and slight build. I'm fairly sure she could have passed herself off as a grade schooler at 16.
