If im not mistaken the author Said that marin personality and mannerism are based on herself and gojo looks and personality are based on her Ideal man so thats why they feel relatable and realistic much more than the usual rom com mcs couple
@@mattiamottola8457 You just grazed over the most important point. The author is a woman! We need more of that in rom coms. Most shonen targeted rom coms are written by males and it tells. Especially in a still pretty conservative society like japan. Alot of man don't really know women, so the portrayed females often are very very very stereotype. That's why Sailor Moon was such a massive hit in the 90's. All female characters were written by a female and they all became iconic, because their characters were believable.
Japanese women are way more selfconfident then it's often portrayed. Not in a stylized tsundere or ara ara way, but as regular people. That is why Marin is best girl. She is exactly that. A normal modern teenage girl.
Can we not with the misguided well-meaning casual sexism?
@@Mandred85 that isn't true. majority of mangaka are actually women. Just most of them use male pseudonyms. (some males also use female names as pseudonyms as well typically when they are creating in a demographic opposite their sex like female mangaka working on shonen and male mangaka on shoujo)
You would be surprised how many ecchi series are created by women.

16:08 One thing that’s been made clear with Gojou is that in a lot of contexts, he doesn’t mince words or sugarcoat things… it’s like the more comfortable he gets with someone, the more he feels he can be honest without realizing the social cues. Like he acts all nice to his jerk classmates who leave him to clean the classroom all alone, but when Marin compliments the hina doll head he had he suddenly feels emboldened to criticize her cosplay dress to the point of almost making her cry… 😆
Plus the attitude about using the word “beautiful”… he’s an honest guy around those he trusts, I think. So in the scene with the cooking, I’m very confident that Gojou is not just “being nice” about Marin’s meal here… and we can tell even more because as the viewer we can hear his inner dialogue, even saying how he needed to try making this at his home. The joke here is that he doesn’t seem to realize that Marin was trying to make omurice and failed; he just thinks she made really good fried rice, which can have bits of fried egg in it as a pretty normal ingredient.
Their relationship is just so good because without any sort of deliberate machinations or anything, Marin and Gojou just naturally go together. 🥰

Her onion chopping skills are a bit worrying, but the fact that Marin knew to put in stuff like chicken stock means that she's probably a better cook than most high schoolers. It's a shame that the dish fell apart at the last step (to be fair, if you're not used to it, wrapping up the rice can be pretty tricky), but at least it tasted good.
About the height thing, I was 6'3" in 6th grade. I had to duck when getting on or off the bus or I'd hit my head on the doorframe. Meanwhile, both of my younger cousins (I don't have an older sibling to make this a 1:1 comparison to Shinju) were 5'9" until high school, and got their growth spurts super late. Of course, I'm also American, where being six feet tall isn't unusual, so...

I think that's what the author was going for. She gave Gojo a number of traits that she believes Japanese women find appealing.

I like the later chapters of the manga better tbh. While I love the anime, I didn't quite remember just how excessive the ecchi was till I started watching these reactions, and since last arc got more serious about the whole cosplay outfit making, they toned down the ecchi quite a bit
@@javierflores09 I like the seriousness, I just feel like they dwell too much on the same subject and since the chapters release so slow it's easy to lose interest. It's supposed to be a rom con yet the progress is really not there 😅

Had to laugh, my bad, but 164 is definitely not 5'10" lol. Rule of thumb for an estimate is that ~30cm aka the size of a normal school ruler = 1 foot (I know, not completely accurate) so over 5 ft 5 inches. Which is still pretty tall for her age.
Just searched it up and it says 5.38 so eh. Still growing young girl.
164 is an adult woman in Asia. Some Asian woman even shorter, like my mother is around 150 or something. Maybe shorter.
