Christy Brown is a child who has cerebral palsy , the film portrays the reality of a poor Irish family and working class.
Her mother recognizes her intelligence and humanity, unlike other family members, who consider it a "vegetable."
Christy eventually mature, learn to deal with simple physical tasks and complex psychological problems throughout life, but also develops and eventually become a brilliant painter, poet, writer, using his "hand" more functional, your foot left.

Daniel day Lewis acting was so real for me it worried me for yrs lol only to find out he was acting I was very young when I saw this for the first time. I really felt sorry for him in this movie the way he overcomes all his hardships.
