This is the scariest transmission drop I've seen in my life
Atleast it has a hydro clutch tho. My 99 ej8 has a hydro clutch with a d16y8. That motor is the best d series by far. Had it in my 98 ej8 it was a great track car motor. I emptied out the catalytic converter and bolted it back up and made a huge difference in power and acceleration you should definitely try that
Thanks a lot for your suggestion man. I appreciate you watching as well! New episode Monday
Riced out Whip try jdm d15b vtec shyt revs like a monster
Great tranny ! Just had mine rebuilt and exedy clutch! Running 14 s 185/60/14 cheapos for dd and 15 w rotas for fun days! Love what ur doing with those two cars ! I'm in Puerto Rico and its most ly ricers not racers here!
That's really awesome Ruben, I'm really happy you are enjoying our videos! Yes, this Si trans for the D series is sooo much better than the original CX transmission I had in my car originally. Wow, the gears were so long in that thing. I had done my first track day on that CX trans too and it was like driving a one speed go kart haha. Can't wait to get back out on track with this Si trans, I know it's going to be so much better.
Glad to hear you are using the same trans and it's nice and rebuilt for you. I like hearing that you have to different sets of wheels you use for your car man. 14's for the daily, then the 15's for the fun haha. What tire and size are you running on your 15 Rotas? And hey man, take care with this big hurricane coming through. Looks like it's going to come close to Puerto Rico. Be careful. It's looking like it's going to ruin our planned track day for this coming weekend :( -Robbie
thats awesome good work, that things going to feel great next time out
Sweeeet, thanks for the encouragement Mike. I'm so excited man. I hope it just works correctly haha. But I can imagine it'll make the track experience so much better, very excited for that.
Good times at the junk yard.
Great job pulling the trans & track day looked awesome! With minimal tools no jacks stands or hoist. i know the level of sketchy that is crawling under a junkyard Honda rested on wheels "Don't knock that wheel son" lol xD good shit! it's always a gamble with the junkyard but after seeing that hole in the oil pan I bet that transmission is good to go! I hope it goes smooth man! that transmission will kick ass! Liked & waiting for the next update! also good improvising on using the backseat as a glove those back seats will save your back at the junkyard lol . keep up the good work guys
Dang dude I agree with everything you just said Sean! Thanks a lot man. I really hope, but also do feel confident that the transmission will just work. Travis and I said the same thing when we were standing there looking at the oil pan. The owner of the Del Sol was probably driving the thing and revving it up just fine then bam, the engine went but the trans should be fine. I really hope anyway. And yes, haha, under the car in the junkyard is certainly sketchy!! Thanks for always watching the videos Sean. Next week I take out the old cx trans from the EG!
A nice brush always helps and a screwdriver to dig the grease out of the corners but looks good 👍👍👍
Just a tip for people at junk yards, there’s plenty of jacks in the trunks of vehicles.
awesome this has got to be the best honda show on UA-cam i haven't found better use are really making me want to buy a honda and do work to it and race it keep it coming love your videos
That's really nice of you to say man, thank you very much for your support
Make sure you get your fly wheel cut since you're replacing your clutch or the clutch won't seat right on the fly wheel
I actually ended up getting a new flywheel. But yeah, as far as taking the trans out we stacked up some back seats underneath it and with both of us lowering it down it worked out fine
A ball joint seperator fork comes in handy for removong the lower control arm for the hub assembly. Should only cost about 10 bucks at your local parts store.
yeah, thanks for your input man but crazy thing is, we had one with us. The bigger problem was that the steering rack was locked and we couldn't pull the whole brake caliper assembly away to remove the axle. We got it eventually though. Thanks for watching
Good job on the transmission removal, guys! I'm sure your EG' will thank you
Thanks a lot man and yes! haha if it proves to work anyway. But yes, I'm very excited to get it in the car
Instablaster.
Do a xtd light weight flywheel . There cheap and will help you rev a lot faster
hey man if you drop the top nut and the brake line off the spindle it will leave enough room to pull the axle out
Thanks for your input.
Been waiting all day!
rule of thumb, if the car is wrecked, it might not have engine problems, if the car is clean, it might have engine problems.
but i would've bought the whole swap and do d16z6 for a couple of seasons.
So it kind of stands up what you're saying. The Del Sol was relatively clean but the d16z6 had thrown a rod because there was a big whole in the bottom of the block. Trans seems fine though. We'll see
they're doing ok. i would focus on suspension/brakes/wheel+tire next.
nah, gotta take baby steps with road racing.
Hey man great vid, we have the same trans, Can I ask where the detent springs are located on this?
Damn Refine-Movement back at it again with the honda dealer!
Jk i love hondas 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Dude, nice buy. I have exactly the same in my ek3 d15z6! Have Fun with this. Best Mode for Dserie. Look my s20 wash Video👍
That's awesome, thanks a lot man. I'm really looking forward to getting it in the car. Hopefully it just works as it's supposed to and I can feel the difference!
Hey bro thanks for the video..what transmisión fit on civic lx 2002 I have problem with the transmission
the 4 wire ecu has a heater (2 wires +/- for heater 2 +/- for the sensor) and the 1 wire sensor doesn't have a heater (case ground and 1 wire for sensor)
Looking to do something similar with my crx, putting th zc dohc gears in the si trans.
that shift linkage won't fit your EG. Del Sol's use their own specific shift linkage. your original eg linkage will bolt right up
Thanks a lot for bringing that to my attention man. I haven't got that far in the process yet so very good to know, saves me some trouble. Thank you
hi sir can you give me advice i have civic 2000 lxi i change p20 b000 why if i make titen will not rotate the shaft can you give me advice i can i dop
long time no see!
As the tenth owner of my CX hatch, I had no idea that front mount for the transmission even existed. From my experience, though, you won't need it. A friend of mine doesn't have it in his either.
That trans should make a huge difference, though.
Interesting haha. I'm still going to be bolting it all up as I took it out though. But yeah, I'm super excited to get the new trans in and hopefully feel the difference! Keeping my fingers crossed the trans will work properly in the first place though.
serious question: is that harbor freight electric impact gun any good? love to hear your personal review on it lol im always on the fence on buying it
I understand haha. I think it's fine really. Travis has a craftsman and his seems nicer overall but I paid $100 for this one and so I'm not compaining. It has plenty of toque to do all the suspension and you've seen engine bay bolts just fine. Battery probably doesn't last as long as a major brand but again, I haven't had a complaint about it. Cool thing is too, every year you technically can bring it back, no questions asked, and they will give you a brand new one. I'm happy with it.
their warranty is really great i agree lol! thanks
pressure wash it bro. and paint it grey/primer. it will look clean.
Yeah, it would look cleaner but eh, I just wanted it to be not a grease pile. Besides, if I cleaned and made the trans looking perfect it would stick out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of my engine bay haha
u should minime swap it(D16Z6 head to d15). it would give u little bit power and vtec :)
Yeah, believe me, it's a thought in my mind. Who knows. Haha thanks for your input
Yes minime is the way to go! About 120 HP !
Would the s40 manual tyranny work though... I know it's stronger than the s20. Just asking
Now I've never personally done that swap so I can't speak from experience, but from everything I've read, yes, the s40 from the ek years will still bolt right up. All d series transmissions are interchangeable from what I understand.
Did u ever fix that engine light code?
o2 code is still the only one being thrown but no, it's still there. I haven't tried anything else at the moment to resolve it but sounds like chipping the ECU to just eliminate it would be my best option.
OE replacement clutch disc is less than 99 dollars, should have just bought a brand new one lol
Why not boosting the d series and getting a z6 vtec head
The z6 head could for sure be cool but I have no plans to boost the engine, nor any engine I would be putting in the car really. I enjoy the Honda n/a for the purposed track car. Thanks for watching and your input man
Yes but for the amount of power you will make with a small turbo it will rev faster and not spin and be a great track car and still be under 200
Refine Movement but hey its your car so who am i to tell you what to do :x
haha well I appreciate you understanding it's my car and yes, I will do what I want with it, just as you should do what you want with your own car. I understand what you're saying but yeah, turbo just doesn't interest me honestly. Maybe that'd change one day, but I'm interested in running an N/A honda on track. Thanks for your input tho
Shouldve pulled the z6 head for a mini me swap lol its not that bad really
Yeah, would've been cool at that time. But if you care to, check out the newest videos on this channel. I am putting in a full d16z6 in these latest videos actually! lol
Refine Movement lol on the alignment vid. Right now.. like what youre doing
who put the support wheels under the car the wrong way . it is not safe
I'm guessing the junkyard cause that's how all the cars are in there.
I'm surprised they let people get under the car, I would think that would be a Hugh liability
D16y8's come on EJ's
Invest in a limited slip
That's a 12 point
