Is UK the only country in the world with such ridiculous eviction laws? 😳😳😳 no point to own any property there if it can be legally taken over by anyone for months or years 🙅♀️⛔️🙅♀️ no point to pay rent if you can live for free for months. Who is behind this ridiculous law?
How does the eviction process work in England? Do they have to wait 18 months to start the process then another 4-5 months for a judgement? Or did he just chose wait that first 18 months? On "Call the bailiff" one man had two rent arrears judgments totalling £180,000. I don't understand how that's possible.
It’s not possible. It’s clear that the landlord didn’t take action when they could. If there was no rent, they could have served notice after two months of no arrears and started court proceedings
I just don’t understand how squatting isn’t a criminal offence. If you broke into someone’s home or entered without permission, that should be enough to have someone removed. This law is insanity.
Because of the housing shortage letting rooms gives more than one person somewhere to live, but I believe the landlord shouldn't be charging so much. A fairer rent is ideal and fair.
The warehouse - the owner is trying to let the place, why don't they just let it & pay the utility bills like every other person has to, instead of moaning that they have to leave their rent free place that does not belong to them.
Lucky those kids never walked out onto the road at the zebra crossing 34.36 mins into the video....driving the car with no care ...just rushing from job to job
The landlord should have had the water, heat, and electric cut off, as soon as he discovered that it was not empty. Why was he paying for the utilities to be on.

It's pretty easy to afford all that stuff when you are stealing utilities and squatting
@@aussiemouth747 more likely, the gas and ekectricity switches are inside the property
Don't you just hate when you accidentally don't put a home up for sale, accidentally convert it to multiple occupancy, and accidentally become a landlord?
I don't understand how that lady was let in when she hadn't even signed a lease. What kind of idiot lets a person into a shared house without making them sign a lease first? I don't think he actually has a case since she doesn't have a lease that says she's supposed to be paying...
So here in norway the social service pays land lords with big houses to house a bunch of addicts or outcasts at tremendous prices like 18000kr for one bedrom(and nothing else, shared kitchen and bathroom for like 8 people) so 1800 quid for a small bedroomin a house where no one sleeps and fights all the time, and the land lords will just unlock your door(bedroom door) whenever he wants
I've got no sympathy for that guy renting rooms for over £600 a month it's pure greed on the landlords part. Yes the woman owed ths rent but he's just a greedy man & the rent for all his rooms would be well over the mortgage amount for the property makes me sick these people deserve to get scammed
Clearly you own nothing and freeload. If you owned anything and depended on it for your needs you might understand. Its leechy entitled trash like you that cause these actions. If living conditions are so bad why would people be in it. Its all poor excuses for sorry people that want others to pay their way. Grow up moron
But this is like the way people make money all over the world like she's the one who moved in after knowing the monthly cost. Its her fault not his
I pay £625 for a small room in hmo
It’s a business not a charity and how do you know how much his mortgage payments are. Im a landlord and it really isn’t that lucrative as you think as you have mortgage payments. Service charges and taxes on your rental income. In the end what are you really left with.
@@huzaifarahman2232 no I agree, I don’t even argue the costs. I know it’s hard out there honestly
Sell, don't rent. It's not worth it.
It is insane to me how the laws back home in the UK seem to favor tenants and squatters.
34:34 So those agents don't stop for pedestrian crossings then?
Accidental landlord....converts house to HMO....yeah, quite the BS sob story.
The owner is still stuck with a lot of bills, though. At least he converted it legally.
Squatters have rights, apparently. 😮
There are times I feel bad for Paul Ainsworth, but then i go back to my own experience with them where they broke rental law several times.
How come these people never turn the utilities off in these commercial buildings?
Such lovely people! Oscar worthy! I will be so ashamed!!!!!
Lucky those kids never walked out onto the road at the zebra crossing 34.36 mins into the video....driving the car with no care ...just rushing from job to job
I was thinking exactly the same thing!
The landlord should have had the water, heat, and electric cut off, as soon as he discovered that it was not empty. Why was he paying for the utilities to be on.
Stop rich investors buying up all the property. Offer more affordable housing.
@ranbitcaroline666
We all know if you were rich you’d buy property and let people live there for free😂
Wealthy people can’ give all their $ away or they’d be poor and couldn’t provide jobs.
Et the government provide affordable housing instead of stealing from people with $ that earned and deserve it.
Socialism is not a good system with many failures.
"Accidental landlord" - what bullshit! No one forces anyone to rent out their *surplus* property, and if for whatever reason he feels he 'must' rent it, instead of selling, then at least be a decent human being by renting it affordably to a family in need instead of individual rooms for higher profit. These exploitative liars playing the victim make me sick.
To be fair, he didn't call himself an "accidental landlord" - that was the show.
Being a landlord is a business, not a charity.
@@cdrone4066 you can spin ot however you like, but unless you are a non-profit bona fide *"housing provider"* being a landlord is freeloading exploitation, getting other people to pay for your "investment asset". Get a real job.
@@lynb1022 Exactly - and given the fact that people are unreliable, why trust a complete stranger to consistently pay for your 'investment'? (especially if they are on a low wage, or no wage.)
@@cdrone4066 It isn't a business. Just like patent trolling isn't a business, and ticket scalping isn't a business, and running a protection racket isn't a business. All of these things share the same thing in common with being a landlord which is that they are rent-seeking, parasitic behaviours. These people produce nothing of value and simply extract value out of the economy like leeches.
I don’t understand why the owners leave the water and electricity on to these abandoned buildings.
Here in the states, if you turn them off, the buildings could flood (pumps won't work) due to storms and pipes can freeze (with no heat).
It’s against the law to turn off utilities, that’s why utilities must be in tenants name, not the landlords.
Why in this day and age can’t squatting be a criminal offence?
I know! It’s mind-boggling! If I go into a restaurant and order a bunch of food and then refuse to pay for it, they can call the cops. If it’s closing time in a store and I’m just laying there sleeping on the floor and refused to leave they can call the cops and they can drag me out. Why is it not the same for squatting and someone else’s property?
They need a page to put faces and names of these people who don't pay rent and how they leave the houses nasty and tore up. That way the new landlords will know what to expect.
How can a landlord owns 100 properties plus ,what about other people who does not even have one small house
Government must stop this culture of rich people of wanting to buy the whole town houses/land , restrictions should apply when it comes on buying properties/owning properties
He doesn't own all of them. He and his partner are letting (leasing) agents. He did own the property in this episode.
Dude business is business! However he makes his money is his own business. If a MF doesn’t like it become a home owner and pay your own damn mortgage. That simple 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
Where I live, landlords request letters of recommendation and two or three months rent in advance, plus a half-rent damage deposit.
So he would die for his mum but was not living with her???? Why????

Can you imagine fighting for your property in court against squatters
What's the rent like at your place? It's outstanding!
Can’t afford the rent, but can afford to keep dogs??
Hard to find good tenants. If you have a hmo expect a shit hole .
That's very true I've been in some right hmo crap holes and they won't spend the money on the property so people treat it the same a crap hole simple
The law in uk is shit that's why.
Good tenants don't tend to drift towards those HMO shiteholes, so you're left with mostly dregs.

Wow straight through zebra crossing with kids there, with those eyes you think she could see for miles.
How do these people get a flat when they don't pay rent
Crap landlords and desperate agents will take anyone, provided they at least get a rent deposit from them.
HMO Landlords should be ashamed to show their faces they are the culprits of rents going up and people living in squalor
Last person I’m ever gonna feel sorry for is a person who owns multiple properties, renting out single rooms to vulnerable people which will equate to x3 his mortgage.
Never where I'm from. W0e can remove front door to gain access whether occupied or not. The outstanding rent is payed to the coirts by court order or wages, social security are all garnished until the dept is paid. It usually takes 12 weeks start to finish.
They should change the Laws in the uk to stop this. 😮
Why not have monthly inspections if you are worried at all to keep up on repairs.
each tenant in Australia pays a bond plus the first months rent up front and if u collect benefits from Centrelink u can get a bond from them and if they fail to make payments then Centrelink will take it out of your payments to give to the landlord
WTF? Squatters are using the electricity, costing the owner $. Huh. Step 1, turn off the electricity. Step 2, call the cops & have them hurled out and/or arrested. Why is this so difficult?
they should be able to evict squatters immediately. total cheek they have to go to court to defend it
Those guys squatting in the warehouse were taking the piss - if they can afford all that expensive gear, they could have easily used the money to rent a place instead - they were just wanting free accommodation so they could spend their money on what they wanted.
Turn off the electricity and the water.
Unfortunately turning off electricity and water can get the landlords in trouble. One land lord just removed all doors and then windows, worked very well.
@@mimiity9585 now that sounds like something I would do since you can’t turn off the electricity take the front door. Oh, I’m just taking the door to be refinished. It’ll be ready in 6 to 8 months.

Only way to do that is to make the government responsible for it which means making the tax payer pay for it.
All of that would need to be done through getting a mandate which either means a General election or a Super-majority Referendum.
Do you think the British electorate can be convinced to foot the bill?
@@keithd26 you're already footing the tax bill for big companies, I'd rather pay for people who need help, than pay for super rich companies who can afford their own bills.

Good luck with that! Government doesn’t care. The people need to get together to make changes..
That doesn’t mean taking from the rich to make them poor.
It’s about communities coming together, purchasing a site and then building cubicles as their are to many people to house. The more illegal immigrants the greater the demand. We can’t house the world!!
Let’s come together to take care of our own citizens first!!
