Légendes en approche : Anton Newcombe et The Brian Jonestown Massacre initient la Route du Rock à l’album The Future is Your Past.

Achtung, „Legenden“-Alarm: Anton Newcombe und The Brian Jonestown Massacre stellen beim Festival Route du Rock ihr neues Album The Future is Your Past vor!
Aufzeichnung vom 19. August 2023 beim Festival Route du Rock, Saint-Malo

the tambourine is perfect, it is a detail that makes this band so special and brilliant.
Well Joel has to do something - though I agree it is part of their sound.
Absolument superbe!
La fin..presque un orgasme😂
For me, they are the bridge between so many bands and artists, The Stones, The Smiths, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, The Byrds, Dusty Springfield, later period Beatles... it's all there and it's all good.
Good call brother

the missing song should be ' don't let me let get in your way "
THANK YOU🤘
@@danielandforok they usually close the concert with an extended version of abandon ship but here they did it on "the mother of..." and gave us this beautiful 10 mins long version
Thanks you legend!
Anemone mec, Anenome ça ne veut malheureusement rien dire 😅
Thank you Anton and rest of the band, what an absolute pleasure.
endless passion for the perfect sound - even if it takes endless time for guitar tuning 😀
Love all these guitars!!!
The guitar in servo sounds AWESOME! I love this performance
This is fucking brilliant, merci boys and ARTE.
this drummer is actually lit
The documentary "Dig" brought me here. Instant fan.
Legit. 👊
A co-worker made me watch it a few years ago during our down-time/off-season, wanting me to see what he thought was a failure of a band versus one that "succeeds." Well, I hate to break it to him, but calling The Dandy Warhols a failure of a band was wrong on his part.
That's a great watch for sure. Everything of theirs especially before 2017 is essential listening in my opinion
Saw them the same year in september on a smaller stage it was ❤
yourman playing the tambourine looks sooooo happy ,,, the band would be lost without him ,,, :) ,,
One of the best bands on the planet. Simply brilliant 💚
Totally Agree. Lord, sent them to 013 Tilburg again. 2016 is a long time ago.
One of thee best and underrated bands of the o0's and beyond. The volume of music Anton has produced is incredible. Anemone is my favourite ever BJM song.
They kinda suck a lot...
@@club_rock Thanks for pointing this out.
Agreed ! And especially this version
Anton said in an interview that “Anemone” was Anthony Bourdain’s favorite BJM song. BJM was one of his favorite bands.
Nevertheless is my fav song.
It's amazing to see Antone still at it , What a brilliant musician so much talent and creativity 👏 if you have seen the film "Dig " then you understand. Just love the music 🎶. . Jole actually grew up for a moment in and around my little town. I remember seeing him as a teenager, friends of friends, of course. Im grateful they are still going at it. Is that Matt Hollywood.
I love your music and style anton music is the key to connection with each other
drummer is great
This is PURE, this is like 1968. This is NO Commercial, this ist MODERNIST grabbing, paisley MOD. This is psychedelic.......R AD I K AL and WONDERFULL !!!! RESPECT !!!!
Post modernist retro.
it has elements in it that remind me of the Cure or Echo and the Bunnymen era too though. He has a sense for catchy pop hooks.
edit: The Cure of the Bunnymen playing through tube amps
Drummer's killing it.
Love Uri , great fit for the band. His fills work great.
Beautifully shot, great sound too
unique, the voice, the song, the same long song, thirty years long, hypnotic, cajoling, entrancing...it's The BJM!
My German Uncle’s name was Hugo Anton……always liked Anton. Thank you for the great tunes…..they are like old friends
Does he ever fight the Tamborine man ?
There is music, and then on the next level, this. Hard to explain how this artists music is like a lifeblood, or something for me. So comfortable and comforting at the same time. Lyrics are so well put together also. Anton helped keep my sanity during THE LOCKDOWN with his amazing output of daily art. Somehow he managed to put together some amazing engineering work and wonderful videos to framework his art, all while breaking in some new talent to his style. Long live our Anton Alfred Newcombe, indeed.
Perfect. 🙌
Loved the lock down videos, great timing. 50+ vids and a great theme. Saw them in Perth recently and could not understand the disrespect shown to the band between songs.
Great night and everything I expected and more.
@@gbjok Sounds like the usual silliness in Sydney?was it? Our Anton clubbing his guitar player with his guitar. Can't believe Joel wasn't involved this time. Saw them earlier outside Boston. Great jams! Very well behaved!
Love this song. Saw them Saturday at Psych Fest- brilliant!
I was there 👍
incredible performance. wow.
The Best band in the World 🙌
Thanks so much for this. All hip Canadians love BJM 🍁🍁
Thank you. So so great live. Love this setlist
I like how the drumming goes with the guitar strumming. Brilliant!!
Cant wait for BJM to play Hobart Tasmania in November. Saw them years ago at the Brisbane Hotel in Hobart playing to 200 people in a tiny bar - awesome!
I've seen them twice this year in Manchester, UK. You won't be disssapointed, they were so good.
Like fine red wine, Anton and BJM just keep getting better with age...
They look and sound incredible ❤️👏 BJM
Anton and crew sound better than ever!!!! I love this 2023 version. Anton's voice sounds great!!!!!!
one of the few bands that get better with age. I can't think of any of the top of my head. Most bands fizzle out and lose the inspiration/magic after about 3 albums or 10 years.
The artists keep creating
Fantastic show, the sound, the set, the camera angles, can’t get enough of this band, hope they will be back in the UK in 2024.
I am going to see them on Sunday. Bringing my eldest for his 23rd birthday.
This sounds even better than the LP.
This is their last concert most recent can't wait got tickets for November 16 in Sydney Australia gonna be second time first time saw them back in 2015 been a fan since 2008 love this band it's one of the greatest bands to ever exist
Saw them in Auckland last week...bloody amazing (third time for me).
Wish I could see them again on this tour. Enjoy the show!
Got to see them in Canberra recently, flashes of brilliance but Anton was a little under whelming when he wanted to pick a fight with band members and the audience...we left early....but here I am watching them do an amazing gig! Excellent :-)
Saw them live in February and I want more ❤😍
Lucky fucker...
They sound very good live! This show sounds incredible. I wish they’d played fingertips though 😊
Thanks for this arte
Magnifique! You guys are in the groove with the new songs⚡️
25:00 ❤ Be well
I admire the friendship between Anton and Joel. It must run very deep.
Are those the two that got into the onstage fight?
@@amandajo4u No, it was Ryan that copped it. Joel had abandoned the tour already. 😕
Great sound. Never heard of this band before their on-stage fight. Love Aton's vocals. Simply brilliant stuff.
Check out their many other earlier live tours 2010 at Rockplast is great also 2014 in Glastonbury
Actually, they have a history of onstage fights, some of which are featured in the documentary "Dig!".
Amazing! I’m seeing them in Perth, Australia soon 🔥
Thanks for posting! Happy to hear the new albums live.
Cheers for the good Vibe Anton & Arte 😉✌️peace out!
True Genius ✨🙌✨
Well said
Anton's music remains the only music that has had any resonance in my life. The more I listen the more I discover about myself cuz let's face it, we connect through their mediocrity, genius and determination.
The 1st BJM gig I went to remains to this day as the best day of my life.
@@bennyfishal227
I missed my opportunity in Hobart 🥺
@@bennyfishal227
What is your favourite song?
@@bennyfishal227
"Fingertips"calms me every time.
"Feel it" gets me ready for anything.
@@emilyandjamesyoutubechanne7419 by accident I put BJM on when I got the keys to my house. I probably should have been spiritual and planned my 1st song in the property but didn't think.
But I do know Feel it Was the first track that played so that song has stuck with me.
Excellent hier soir. Merci !
Thank you!
I have a loooong list of acts I want to hear. Now it is TBJM's turn! 21-09-23. Likey! Great combination I call psychedelic grunge. And seriously, the best ever use of a tambourine I've heard, usually a device to keep a lead singer occupied while not singing, not here, it is the driving sound of the band, lieka second bass. I shall keep searching for more from them. Cheers all.
Man, I love this band! ☮︎☮︎☮︎
Bjm Mjc
I love the loooong drawn out dramatic pauses between every 4 chord song lol😂
incredible sounds
😍 Excellent! 😎🌹 Tinja&Markku
Super!
A miracle this man is alive, and Joel has quit the band over 100 times by now. Is Hollywood alive?
Of course he is - he's not self destructive.
Saw this show in Brighton, UK. Fantastic.
Joel and Anton are kind of like Bez and Shawn from The Happy Mondays
What a beautiful band!
Tambourine man and bottle-guy in 13 floor elevators should make a band together
Fuuuucking sublime…❤❤❤❤😢😢😢
bravooo!!
Came here after the fight… Damn they’re still amazing
Amazing Brazil 2023
that "fight" could well turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to this band....
Hardly.
The new meletron guitarist man is well cool 😎
Just saw these fellas last week or so… great show!
A true phenomena, mahalo!
Two twelve string guitars. Never been done before. That is all.
Early Genesis?
I counted three...?
If there are three, that’s perfectly insane and off off the charts
God bless all who made this possible.
This is Pure Progressive Trance in a rock way
I'm glad I didn't see this before the Australia tour, I would have bought tickets. No fights, no Anton telling the audience they are morons and stupid and backward (that was Brisbane though), no throwing water at the crowd, what sort of BJM concert is this?
Bass fill at 49:25 goes crazy
Saw the band last night in Vancouver BC... one of the worst live experiences I've had... entirely due to Anton deciding he wasn't going to accommodate the audience.
Started well... first few tunes had the band rocking along... then suddenly the mood changed... after Anton left for a minute, then returned exhaling something from a vaper. From that point, it was downhill. Despite having a dedicated guitar tuner, Anton wasn't satisfied with the tuning of any of the instruments he was handed... then he began to make snide comments to the audience, including how the concert tour was originally intended to play a date in Washington State... but that was cancelled and the Vancouver date was the makeup. He opined that he'd much prefer to be playing with all of his friends down there. Then he made a couple negative comments about the playing of other members of the band.... followed by more fiddling with his tuning... to the point more time spent complaining and tuning that actually playing. All the energy had been sucked out of the concert in the meantime.
Just a completely unprofessional example of someone deciding he was going to have a major sulk.
At that point I bailed... had better things to do.
I like the band's music... when they are on and when Anton is focused, but what I witnessed was extremely disrespectful to the people who paid to see him... it was a full house... hoping to see a good performance from a band which rarely visits.
Yeah I was there too, all the amp setting time and long breaks were a buzz kill. He's a perfectionist definitely but when you get to the point where he's asking the band which pickup he should use and the other band members are waiting in disbelief you can't help but think he's pulling your leg. He did compliment the city and crowd which was nice but again you don't know if he's pulling your leg or not
i had the same experience seeing them in Chile, the concert was great until everything turns into a negative vibe... totally disrespectfull with the audience.
cool music but completly unestable characters.
saw them in Sydney last week. oh dear. Tension building then came Melbourne a few days later and tour cancelled.
AWESOME
Fark, these dudes must be smoking a hell of a lot of ganja ... makes you wonder how they can get so aggressive 😄
The guy playing the tambourine is a super important member of the group even though his very skillful playing is hard to hear over the drums and guitars.
OH shit they still have Joel , outstanding.
Anton!
Pish and Anemone is all I need.
Even Anton cleaned his cherry VOX for this show🙂
Anemone is my fav and you sill rock it!
This band sounds awesome. How close is this lineup to the original?
Not very! Singer and tambourine player are the same :-)
singer, tambourine, bass are the same
Anton singer, Joel tambourine guy, Ricky guitar. Only Anton always!
guitarists and bassist are not original but have been in the band a long time. drummer im not 100% positive.
@@adammacdougall1100 drummer is pretty new within the last couple of years. The last 3-5 years he has been playing a few different drummers.
Were there really 48 guitar strings wailing on #1 Lucky Kitty?
yes
Simply Dope! Anton has the Jackie Earl Haley (Kelly Leek) from Bad News Bears look going digging the whole ensemble!
Danke Schon!
Ein Glück, dass sie in Berlin leben. Will sie dieses Jahr nochmal live sehen.
