- The lip seal inside the impeller on the raw water pump was leaking and making a mess in the engine compartment of Xiao Rui, a 33' Cheoy Lee Clipper from 1986 in Hong Kong. I wasn't sure if I would be able to get the lip seal out without removing the water pump and the mounting bracket from the 3YM30, but with a small bent screwdriver I managed to get it out. Got a rebuild kit from Parts4Engines with impeller, O-ring, lip seal, and new screws, complete with soapy water as well.

Good idea to bend a small screwdriver to make a prying tool to push the seal out 👍 Thank you.
Yes, I was so happy that I didn't have to take the pump off
great video and such pleasant music to accompany it! WIll be attempting the same job soon on my Volvo Penta.
Thanks! Hope all goes well for you
@@seewhatiseahk got the seal & the o-ring out with a bent pin from behind, as learned from your video. But when I was cleaning up in preparation for putting in the new seal & o-ring, noticed that I had damaged the spacer behind. Don’t have a spare, so will try to repair it as best I can and reinstate. Hopefully, it will work ok.
@@lttuang There's always something when working on these things. My pump didn't hold up very long with the new lip seal as someone had run the engine with the seacock closed and the pump housing was warped from overheating. In the end I bought a new pump and replaced the whole thing.
Well done. Thanks!
