    Great video as usual. I have used these blends of emulsifiers, but I have faced a problem. Since these blends are suspensions, the polymer will not be suspended for a long time in its container. The final viscosity of the product will differ from batch to batch. Any suggestion?

      How would I incorporate a gum like HEC?

    • @dlatua
      @dlatua Рік тому +1

      @@cuttinup97 wet the hec with a small amount of glycerine, propylene glycol or ethanol, and add it in water under agitation. It is best to use an overhead stirrer. If you don't have one, just mix it manually and leave it over night so hec can dizolve.

      @@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 for that question I have to subscribe? I have met with seppic representatives at CPhI. They only recommend to try to mix the blend in its package, which is impossible if we talk about industrial scale quantities. After that, they said that it shouldn't be any issue regarding stability, even if the blend starts precipitating. At the end, they recommended to use powdered polymers, over these blends lol.

    Can you add melted hard butters in a formula with a polymeric emulsifier?

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Rachel,
      It would be difficult - they would solidify into their original form when they hit the cold polymeric emulsifier. You could check your polymeric emulsifier to see if it is okay to heat (most are) but then you also need to heat the water phase, which defeats the purpose. Or you could heat your butters with liquid oils, then allow them to cool and if that remains liquid, add them cool that way.
      Happy formulating!

      @@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 thank you! I tried it, and it worked! But my finished formula ended up piling on the skin when I rubbed it in. Would you have a guess as to why this happens? I think I may have added too much emulsifier.... Thank you!

    Is the polymeric emulsifier heat tolerant if you were to add 2% heat melted wax, such as a cetyl, for example? It being non-ionic also?

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  2 роки тому

      You don’t need a wax in a cream gel - it would make it a cream, not a cream gel. You would have to check the specific grade of your polymeric emulsifier to see if it is heat tolerant, as several are. But the point of a polymeric emulsifier is to use cold process method to save time and energy. Learn to make these selections and formulate professionally with our Certificate in Advanced Cosmetic Science: personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/CertificateinAdvancedCosmeticScience-478/ and Diploma of Personal Care Formulation: personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/DiplomaofPersonalCareFormulation-479/
