I'm almost positive that he took out most of the slurs, and that's why it sounds so smooth. The slurs from the Suzuki book are a pain in the ass and totally throw off your momentum.
This reminds me of my 10th grade self! I played this at a competition and got a "Superior" rating at Elon University! I have barely picked up my Viola since I graduated but was missing this song and finally found it today. Great job!
Corey Monk Pick it back up! Even though you haven't played it in a while, you should keep playing and practicing. People who are able to play or sing or otherwise express themselves musically are so lucky, so you should continue to take advantage of it!
Aww thanks for the motivation Justice. It's back home at my parent's house in North Carolina and I live in California now. So I think I will send for it.
I'm 12, I've been playing for a year. I'm learning this for fun! Keep in mind I've been playing 3 hours a day, plus orchestra rehearsals. I've worked hard to get here. Im also in region:)
What's annoying about the version of the song I have is that, it goes into treble clef for no reason in seemingly random spots. So annoying, but love the song!
Im gonna learn this next year so i had a sneek peek my teacher said all violas had to play this one times in there lifetime next year i will be in 8th grade
I’m in middle school and I have to learn the first page at my school it’s called master musician for example bass and cellos have Webster scherzo and violins have concertino and this is violas then if you get the first page of those done you go to grand master musician and learn the second page I’m not even halfway through the first page of that but I’m learning
Thank you so much! Your channel has really helped me a ton-- it's very well organized and it's been a great resource for guidance while learning these suzuki songs.
You definitely shouldn't be attempting this song with only two weeks of experience. Just saying. :) I've got five or six years and I'm still getting tripped up.
I'm learning this piece and this is incredibly useful as a guide but personally I don't like the overall lack of expression. Baroque is meant to be played as straightforward as possible, but my teacher has explained to me that this is an incredibly simple piece and what can wow people is the expression and phrasing you choose to add. I love your tone though and how you've left this on the internet for anyone learning this piece to use :)
Thanks for the kind words! These videos were meant as simply a guide (and were generally recorded quickly with one take), and not meant to be Grammy nominated recordings. I promise I generally perform with much more expression!
Gracias, tus videos son los mejores. Todo el suzuqui entero y asi puedo ver las partes que no puedo tocar. Consejo ponte esto de alarma y se te quedara el ritmo xd
Gordon Mclaren in the description it says this video is for his students. I believe the dynamics and other things that can be used to express the music is to be added by the students. Sort of like a blank slate.
I'm gonna use this video as reference cause I'm learning this song.
Virginia Hernandez learned it yet?
Piece*
Learned it yet?
Mee too I gotta play this for all county
The bowing in this song was the most difficult part for me to master, and you did it beautifully.
there isn't actually an official bowing. It's a question of how you do it.
I'm almost positive that he took out most of the slurs, and that's why it sounds so smooth. The slurs from the Suzuki book are a pain in the ass and totally throw off your momentum.
dammitidontknowwhatimdoing blackandredroses IKR?!
yeah I noticed he took out most of the slurs
what how the slurs sound so much better 😲

This was my senior solo... I haven't touched a viola since 2002 😢
Fallon Brumback lmao I played this in 8th grade
MTNation uh, congrats?

Just learn treble clef up to high g and your problems will be solved! Remember high g is just 4th finger 3rd position.
Daniel Pena Yeah I can read treble already. The thing that bugs me is that it goes into treble for one measure in some spots
Ugh, I have problems with the 4th and 5th position!
I feel you. Sad life.
I'm one out of around 20 violists in my province. :'(
I really have to play this song and I’m only a freshman in highschool
Better slow and well articulated than speedy and choppy, people! I say kudos to this performance!
This is a almost like a rite of passage for middle school violists.
put it at 1.25x speed and the tempo is perfect 👌
Thanks!!
Why not try 1000000x speed?
1.5x speed is better tbh
My piece is different because there are a lot of more slurs in mine and the ending is completely different but will definitely use this as reference
Mr. Adrian Torres oh yeah yeah
more like oh no no that meme is dedddd
He didn’t do all of the slurs
You are so good! Your tone is incredible! I lost the CD to my Suzuki book and you have saved me! Thanks (: hah
This beautiful and very soothing.
Thank you!
fabulous playing!!! well done.
Great tone.!
I love this piece because its my first "A" piece for Solo en Ensemble and its easy and great to start out with. Great job!
At around the end, when it switches from treble to alto, shouldn't it stay alto, not treble?
Not necessarily you still have to shift I guess it shifts from alto to treble to challenge you
+jayla cousins No it switches to treble because it is improbable to print such high notes on an alto clef
+Captain Crunch oh
They switch clefs so you dont get so many ledger lines.
Parabéns... Sonho com esta habilidade.
I’m only 14 and I’ve been playing for 5 years and I’m learning this as a level 5 solo
Must we strive for recognition so prematurely?
Isabella Smith I have to learn this from scratch in 3 weeks yay!
Isabella Smith same

Awesome! I just started playing the Largo part and wondered how it would continue and that definetily made me wanna play more!
This video was very useful. I had to prepare it for my teacher and this helped a lot. Keep up the good work!
I'm glad!
I love how you play Telemann, my son is learning this piece. Thanks for your videos.
Ceci Serey has he learned it yet
So good, I have been playing viola for 2 weeks, got so stuck. Thank you so much
You definitely shouldn't be attempting this song with only two weeks of experience. Just saying. :) I've got five or six years and I'm still getting tripped up.
Good viola :)
Wow its very good!!!!

@@bclement85 I'd love to hear some of your other performances! I'll check out the rest of your channel :)
Thank you! Unfortunately, my best performances are lost with the antiquities. I'm starting to play again and am trying to get my fingers back!

What viola are you using?
I play a viola made by Mark Womack.
wow it is wonderful.. I am looking for a viola to buy so just wondering :)
I love it so much!
The slurs in the Suzuki book are the death of me
Where do you get this sheet music?
IMSLP- google it
Susuki book 4-Viola- Leccion5.Concierto in G major G.P. Telemann-Mov.2 Allegro :v
very good
Good job

was really helpful

1.5x is my preferred tempo
imleano I’m more of a 2x guy
Que lindo! Estou encantada! Qual é a marca dessa viola di braccio?
My viola was made by Mark Womack.
Nice Tone Mister....
I have nyssma on the 20th and I'm so upset. I don't know the end of the song because of the positions and ssldndnndf. Ugh. 😔
I have it on the 9th.. RIP ME.
Nameslizbeth
that last section was written in treble clef for me ffs
I have to learn it from scratch in three weeks! :)
K wen tocas vroh
OMG😊👍🏻
This is my Bak addition
Good
też to gram
He didn’t do the full chord so how am I supposed to-
What full chord? I play out of a different edition than Suzuki (noted in the description), so that might be where the disconnect is.
Wait he's not slurring (at some parts)
Everyone can come up with whatever bowings that make sense. What you see in books and sheet music are editors' choices.
@@bclement85 got it
A bit too slow but you've really pulled some tone out of your viola. Great job.
There was no dynamics and you got out of time but still great 👍
Gordon Mclaren in the description it says this video is for his students. I believe the dynamics and other things that can be used to express the music is to be added by the students. Sort of like a blank slate.
sorry but there are many things wrong
