- In this vlog, I share the story of how I spent two years building a successful blog about trucks, only for it to be decimated by Google's algorithm update. I talk about the journey of starting from scratch, the strategies I employed to grow the blog, and the devastating impact of the Google helpful content update.
Highlights:
Building the Blog: I started a truck-focused blog, writing and researching extensively. Initially, I posted 2-4 times per week, with occasional daily posts, and used AI to assist in article creation.
Growth and Success: After a year, the blog began to gain traction, reaching up to $75-$80 in monthly ad revenue. By August, it was generating 12,000 monthly views and had just crossed $100 in revenue.
The Downfall: In August 2023, Google's helpful content update drastically reduced traffic, slashing it by 80-90% within months. Revenue plummeted, and I had to turn off the ads.
Current Status: The blog has been stagnant since November 2023, though there was a small traffic increase in June 2024. I'm contemplating whether to keep the blog or pivot to a different strategy, such as starting a new website or integrating e-commerce.

For viewrs - watch the video in 2x speed, thanks me later 🙏🏻
if you move blogs to a new domain without proper redirects and strategy in place
you will lose it all
This doesn’t sound like the same thing that happened to you but I did start a UA-cam channel almost a year ago. It did ok with around 400 viewers. One day it jumped up to over 1300. Two days later I posted a video and wound up with 28 views. Since then it’s down to 2 or 3 views. UA-cam is owned by Google and wondering if the same thing is happening on it. I don’t use ai. Thanks
Mine too 😢
Are you complaining about dancing with the devil and he stepped on your toes?
@@RESTLESS_ERRANT Yes! 😂
i guess it was affiliate/niche blog?
@@gohighlevel786 it was a niche blog. With ads revenue
As a google searcher, I personally don't like using the Ai (I call the robot) information. It is always confusing answers. I like to go straight to the websites as they offer more insights on their anyway. So personally, I do not care for the ai generated content in the search engine. It is missleading and if I do see it has offered some steps to take to solve a problem, I look for original articles. Your story is interesting, and in every problem there is a solution. You seem like you know how to pivot, but why should you have to. The Ai is straight up stealing in so many ways... content, viewers, money... etc. Now, Ai can be a good tool, but what kinds of tools is the question that needs to be considered.
