I had my first daughter at 19, my parents were in Australia and I was in another country, I was so scared just coming out of high school and my daughter was born a day before my birthday. My parents heard from a family friend who had seen me when pregnant and told my parents. My parents didn’t react, they just hop on the plane and went straight to see me at the hospital. I count believe it, I was shocked they made it there to see my daughter and me. My daughters father bailed and I raised her, 17 years later, she is graduating high school this year and i have just graduated my Nursing degree. So yeah I know how scary it can be when you have no one there for that kind of support. I am now happily married for nine years now, a great husband he is and we have twins together. It's been 3 yrs since my brother took my nephew away to live with him and the boys mom. They "built" their family. I can't visit my nephew as much as I want because he live in another state,but I love him dearly. And he tells me every time that he misses us alot. But there's nothing I can do, he is now living with his biological parents and I could just pray for him that he'll be a good man someday.

I was told at an early age I'd find it hard to conceive naturally so falling pregnant at 18, was a massive shock. I had my Son when I was 19, I never thought I'd love someone so much I'd die for them until I held him in my arms the first time. My baby boy is almost 8 now.

With the odds against me I decided I would keep my child. She's almost two now and it was the best choice of my life. This is still my song. It still makes me cry. Love it.

I dedicated this song to my daughter when she was 6 days old. She was transported to a children's hospital when she was 3 days old for us to find out she had congenital heart disease (CHD) and a very small chance of making it at the time. I held on with everything I could to a very small piece of positivity that she would make it and be an amazing women someday. She's almost 4 now. A few heart caths and 2 open heart surgeries shes doing amazing and is a wonderful beautiful spirited little girl. Were looking at more open heart surgeries and caths for the remainder of her life. I love Reba & her songs really touch people inside of them, their hearts & minds. This video should be shown in High School so that the teenagers know there will be some tough choices to make as they go through life. They'll have to make to right from wrong, there be some consequences of their actions. Sometimes will turn out fine. Plus even having a baby too soon, plus being afraid of being a parent & having the responsibility. Always remember that they will always know if they need help they can always reach out to their family for their help, support & their love.
Unfortunately, not all families believe they need to be there for their children through mistakes, and shun/outcast them for things done outside what the family thinks should be "the way things should go." When I chose to leave my abusive husband of 10 years to protect my daughters, my family actually sided with him because of his position in the community and the fact my mother couldn't deal with the stigma she herself placed on her daughter divorcing such an "important" man regardless of what he did to hurt me or my girls. Because of this, he got custody and I've been treated by the courts the same way they'd treat a drug addict/deadbeat mom, being granted only supervised visitations even though the only thing I did "wrong" was take my daughters to a friend's house with me because I knew my parents wouldn't keep me safe from my then-husband if I ran to them - they'd try to force us back together instead of supporting my decision and listening to my side of the story. I rarely drink (if a glass of wine once every few months counts as "drinking"), have never done any illegal drugs, and am allergic to cigarette smoke so never experimented in that way either, am the music director for our church, teach private piano and voice lessons... In short, I'm not a "bad mom" in any way - but because of the NON-support from my family, my AND my daughters' lives have suffered and will continue to suffer until time changes the courts' opinion of me. If anything, this video should be shown to teenagers WITH their parents so the parents may come to realize a little bit of the responsibility THEY have, and the influence they can have to help or HURT their children through their actions...
yes I know, having a baby & rising one is great but just there's a lot of young kids still to be awareness of having safe sex and the responsible of having a baby & see if they're ready to be parents and rising a life. I've have friends from H.S. that had babies early & some had problems rising a baby some didn't have the dad stick around to help or working, saving money and all. They did get help from their families, friends and support they needed of rising a baby.
I was a single mom at 21, and struggled as my parents weren’t there for me. When my daughter got pregnant at 18, she made the decision to give up the baby so he or she could have a better life and I supported her decision. Then she became a single mom a year later and I was there for her again. Now I’m a Nana to 4 beautiful grandkids ages 18, 16 3/4, 12 1/2, and 9.

Kim Wolford Thank you. You are what you believe you are and can get through most everything life throws at you. I had a difficult childhood, and lived in a bad neighborhood. So, by the time I was a teenager, I refused to become a victim, and had the belief that whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and family comes first. By age 39 (and all within in less than 6 months), I had lost both my parents 4 months apart, and was going through a divorce from my 2nd husband, which he initiated and I didn’t want. I believed in giving marriage everything. When 9-11 happened, my youngest daughter was a week from turning 12 and was terrified because we lived very close to a military base and most of her friends were military brats and her dad had moved 4 hours away. She was afraid because she didn’t know if she would see everyone she loved again if the base was attacked. I told her to write a letter to the POTUS because he had the power to have the USA strike back at those who had attacked and terrorized our country, and I would help mail it. A month later, she got a handwritten letter from him, which helped alleviate her fears. Four years later, my 2 daughters, oldest granddaughter, our dog, and 2 cats, and I were homeless while I was in college full-time because an unfeeling landlord refused to wait a few weeks for me to get my first paycheck and get caught up on the rent. We struggled for about a year, but eventually got a small apartment, and I graduated with honors with my Associates degree. Btw, I’m not a church-going, Bible-thumper, but got through everything because I REFUSED to lay down and quit and lose my family and our pets. Without even realizing it, I became a role model for my daughters. Sometimes I wish I had kept journals of my life like Laura Ingalls Wilder did, but then I probably wouldn’t have them as I’ve moved around a lot in the last 46 years. I hope that my life experiences inspire you become a strong woman for those around you.

What I learned through my own experience and still continute to learn everyday, is just because you have a child with someone does NOT mean you two are meant to be together, nor have to be together. Being a mother, especially a single mother makes you so incredibly strong. Makes you grow up extremely quick . You find you have a strength in you , that you never knew existed. Though being a single young mother is the hardest thing you may ever go through, it's also the most rewarding.

I had my first daughter at 19, my parents were in Australia and I was in another country, I was so scared just coming out of high school and my daughter was born a day before my birthday. My parents heard from a family friend who had seen me when pregnant and told my parents. My parents didn’t react, they just hop on the plane and went straight to see me at the hospital. I count believe it, I was shocked they made it there to see my daughter and me. My daughters father bailed and I raised her, 17 years later, she is graduating high school this year and i have just graduated my Nursing degree. It's been 3 yrs since my brother took my nephew away to live with him and the boys mom. They "built" their family. I can't visit my nephew as much as I want because he live in another state,but I love him dearly. And he tells me every time that he misses us alot. I'm 17. My daughter is four months old now and this song makes me cry every single time I listen to it. She is the absolute love of my life and I couldn't imagine life without her. Sometimes things are extremely hard and I'm doing it on my own but I know with God's grace and a little more faith we can do it and make something wonderful of our lives.

i wasnt pregnant as a teenager, though i was pregnant out of wedlock, meaning i wasnt married when i got pregnant... my grandfather had just passed away and i had just come out of a bad relationship... well i found out i was pregnant and my big worry was my family, i was barely 21, the little guys father had decided he didnt want to be a part of the kids life but wow did i have the backing of my mothers, my father, and my two sisters. this is why Reba's songs are amazing, they speak to everyone, weither it be a bad realtionship, having a parent or sibling for you in a bad time or just telling you you should be strong over anything.

Brings back so many memories! I was 19 when I had my daughter and now she's 18 and graduated high school. I was so young when I had her, but she has taught me so much in life. She was transported to a children's hospital when she was 3 days old for us to find out she had congenital heart disease (CHD) and a very small chance of making it at the time. I held on with everything I could to a very small piece of positivity that she would make it and be an amazing women someday. She's almost 4 now. A few heart caths and 2 open heart surgeries shes doing amazing and is a wonderful beautiful spirited little girl. Were looking at more open heart surgeries and caths for the remainder of her life. I used to sing this to her all the time when she was a baby. Here recently she started asking me to sing and this is the song she wants to hear. I love it! They'll have to make to right from wrong, there be some consequences of their actions. Sometimes will turn out fine. Plus even having a baby too soon, plus being afraid of being a parent & having the responsibility. Always remember that they will always know if they need help they can always reach out to their family for their help, support & their love.

Unfortunately, not all families believe they need to be there for their children through mistakes, and shun/outcast them for things done outside what the family thinks should be "the way things should go." When I chose to leave my abusive husband of 10 years to protect my daughters, my family actually sided with him because of his position in the community and the fact my mother couldn't deal with the stigma she herself placed on her daughter divorcing such an "important" man regardless of what he did to hurt me or my girls. Because of this, he got custody and I've been treated by the courts the same way they'd treat a drug addict/deadbeat mom, being granted only supervised visitations even though the only thing I did "wrong" was take my daughters to a friend's house with me because I knew my parents wouldn't keep me safe from my then-husband if I ran to them - they'd try to force us back together instead of supporting my decision and listening to my side of the story. I rarely drink (if a glass of wine once every few months counts as "drinking"), have never done any illegal drugs, and am allergic to cigarette smoke so never experimented in that way either, am the music director for our church, teach private piano and voice lessons... In short, I'm not a "bad mom" in any way - but because of the NON-support from my family, my AND my daughters' lives have suffered and will continue to suffer until time changes the courts' opinion of me. If anything, this video should be shown to teenagers WITH their parents so the parents may come to realize a little bit of the responsibility THEY have, and the influence they can have to help or HURT their children through their actions...

I've have friends from H.S. that had babies early & some had problems rising a baby some didn't have the dad stick around to help or working, saving money and all.
They did get help from their families, friends and support they needed of rising a baby.
I was a single mom at 21, and struggled as my parents weren’t there for me. When my daughter got pregnant at 18, she made the decision to give up the baby so he or she could have a better life and I supported her decision. Then she became a single mom a year later and I was there for her again. Now I’m a Nana to 4 beautiful grandkids ages 18, 16 3/4, 12 1/2, and 9.

Kim Wolford Thank you. You are what you believe you are and can get through most everything life throws at you. I had a difficult childhood, and lived in a bad neighborhood. So, by the time I was a teenager, I refused to become a victim, and had the belief that whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and family comes first. By age 39 (and all within in less than 6 months), I had lost both my parents 4 months apart, and was going through a divorce from my 2nd husband, which he initiated and I didn’t want. I believed in giving marriage everything. When 9-11 happened, my youngest daughter was a week from turning 12 and was terrified because we lived very close to a military base and most of her friends were military brats and her dad had moved 4 hours away. She was afraid because she didn’t know if she would see everyone she loved again if the base was attacked. I told her to write a letter to the POTUS because he had the power to have the USA strike back at those who had attacked and terrorized our country, and I would help mail it. A month later, she got a handwritten letter from him, which helped alleviate her fears. Four years later, my 2 daughters, oldest granddaughter, our dog, and 2 cats, and I were homeless while I was in college full-time because an unfeeling landlord refused to wait a few weeks for me to get my first paycheck and get caught up on the rent. We struggled for about a year, but eventually got a small apartment, and I graduated with honors with my Associates degree. Btw, I’m not a church-going, Bible-thumper, but got through everything because I REFUSED to lay down and quit and lose my family and our pets. Without even realizing it, I became a role model for my daughters. Sometimes I wish I had kept journals of my life like Laura Ingalls Wilder did, but then I probably wouldn’t have them as I’ve moved around a lot in the last 46 years. I hope that my life experiences inspire you become a strong woman for those around you.

What I learned through my own experience and still continute to learn everyday, is just because you have a child with someone does NOT mean you two are meant to be together, nor have to be together. Being a mother, especially a single mother makes you so incredibly strong. Makes you grow up extremely quick . You find you have a strength in you , that you never knew existed. Though being a single young mother is the hardest thing you may ever go through, it's also the most rewarding.

when my little sister told me at the age of 18 she was pregnant, I was so worried about her, we live in different parts of England and rarely see one another.
