Yeah. They fell for two men that…well this song is prophetic. These two and their ex take the saying: “like father, like son” to a whole other level. You’d think this was done recently…but no. Wonder what they think when they see/listen to it now. Was Reba thinking “He’s going to screw you over and you’ll feel this way someday” when they filmed this-especially the last part? It would be interesting for them to do another version of it…NOW.
Emotional and physical abuse growing up only to marry someone that continued that hell. Broke free of that 20yr trap. I'm now a survivor!

Kelly said before that she wrote this song inspired by own life, when her father destroyed relatioship with family and left them. Kelly tried to speak with her father but he did not try to talk with her and family. Later he tried to talk with Kelly, she was famous then, but she refused , and wrote another great song Piece by Piece. Great duet
Kelly did say in an interview that even when she became famous she tried to repair their relationship but it became humiliating so she stopped trying.

Right, blame it on the friend. Many times the friend helps, but that help flips on their head and they get hurt by helping someone who doesn't want to be helped or even willingly returns to the abuser. No one can help a battered woman but herself by growing her self-worth and leaving.

I love this duet because it shows the true pain and helplessness that happens during abuse. For everyone who questions Reba's character walking away, think about it. How many times have you seen or heard people fighting at Walmart or next door and didn't do anything because it "wasn't your business?" It's even harder to act when you went through or still are abused and are afraid to make it worse. This song is exactly how it feels to be so so scared.
I had that relationship wit my ex boyfriends nobody didn't know what happened to me but god show me n told me I need get out of that bad relationship I did I never look back I seen him years ago he still do same
or you try and try to help them, because you HAVE been through the same damned thing, and they aren't ready to get out of that situation, wont let you help, so you walk away, knowing they will be hurt again and there isn't a damned thing you can do about it. Cant even call the cops cause she will just deny it, wearing his bruises on her face...Ive been the abused and the one watching the abuse, and to be honest im not sure which one hurts more. Maybe im the lucky one because my abuse was as a child and I was able to get away when I met my husband.. but the woman im thinking of may live with her abuser the rest of her life. OMG this is the first time I have seen or heard this. I am blown away. Phenomenal Performances by Reba and Kelly. Absolutely STUNNING. I'm truly in AWE ladies. Reba has been my favorite singer since I was probably 6 years old, and Kelly had my heart first time she sang on American Idol. LOVE LOVE LOVE this.

The video and the song can evoke two different perspectives. When I hear the song, I think of my mother and all the verbal, mental and emotional abuse she heaped on me. This song made me realize "No MORE!" and I got her out of my life a couple of years ago. Since then I've received many compliments about how I've become more confident, more trusting and more dependable. When I watch the video, it inspires me to work on helping women become survivors, not victims of abusive relationships.
