The first data on the Emiras indicates that depreciation rates could be relatively steep, despite the price increase. The latest Evoras are priced at the same level or slightly below the Emiras and are depreciating at much lower rates. Therefore, I believe you should consider them if you are a value conscious buyer. This holds especially if the model hierarchy in terms of pricing will fail. Meaning that Emiras will drop below Evoras. Yet, if it does hold, we could see significant shifts in pricing.

Honda Civic Type R!
This video is NOT APPLICABLE to the USA where the cars were recently released and there is still a 12month wait for people who want one. I have not seen a single US car sell below MSRP, and it wont for a year or two. Some dishonest dealers are marking pre-ordered orphaned cars up $5-15k
At 75k it was a good value, at $120k it's sheer greed by Lotus. Anyone paying 120k for this car is dumb, and yes it will depreciate below 90 and even 80k quickly as more come in
@@fzr1000981 If you really look at the market though, this is a unique car in everything from the $80k-150k range, especially if you're a Porsche guy (and who wants to spend $100K on a 4 banger turbo Boxster?!). To get anything a ton more interesting and attractive with character, you're going to spend >$200k. At least in the US market, I think this car is holding its value for a long time - its design is timeless already.
There is a dealer in Jax Florida. Goes around 92-99k.
@@Hmmm313The backlog will disappear and depreciation will be significant next year.
I was offered one at MSRP
I think the real problem is brand new car prices are way too high. Peoples salaries have not increases as much as the prices have gone up, so people only pay what they think its worth. For 85k its a very crowded market, the emiras true worth brand new is likely 70k maximuim
I own an Elise Turbo and an Evora. Test drove an Emira and it felt absolutely cheap compared to the Evora. I'll keep what I have.
i drive an evora gt, i test drove the emira and it was a horrible experience, the paddle shifters felt plasticy and clicky, the seating position wasn't great, i hate the look of the car cuz it lacks the classic lotus look and so much more.
Thanks for this Analysis. I’d be interested in an update in the near future. Especially when the i4 comes out.
Please do the Audi R8 Market Analysis Update including the German market you promised 3 months ago♥️💯great videos
Great information. Would love to see an analysis of the Exige 410 Sport and Cup 430 models!
Do you see used Lotus Evoras in the USA 🇺🇸 decreasing in price with the new models coming out?
Just wait until the ev model comes out. The emira will be a collector
I doubt it there are too many around
if u meant evora exige and elise then yes but emira have too many in circulation
@@jaystrix yes totally agree👍
What are the differences in the buyers for lotus emira and evora?
Hey, thanks for the video.
I waited over two years for my M139 Emira and then jumped ship because I like the engine in the A45 much better.
Do you have any idea where the money could be parked? Preferably mid-engine.
Mid engine all the way...
Indeed, the latest Evora's will be the ultimate desired car (compared to the huge amount of available Emira's soon) due to performance and rarity........
On Apr 13, 2024 there were offered new / used:
99 x Emira on Auto Trader UK and 102 x Emira on AutoScout24 Eur. Continent.........total 201 x........
26 x Evora on Auto Trader UK and 37 x Evora on AutoScout24 Eur. Continent...........total 63 x........
Haven’t driven an Evora, but to be frank the Emira felt very competent but not exciting enough (Sport chassis but on winter tires). The Exige is an insane experience on the other hand.
Emira needs lower seats, some more hp and rpm and a bit more sound
The Emira is a wonderful car. Unfortunately, the Lotus brand doesn’t have a very good track record for reliability and build quality. Not to mention if something breaks, there’s a handful of guys in a shed in the middle of nowhere England making parts. Said parts will take forever to be delivered, if ever. Plus, there’s no official dealer network in the US. It’s usually a current dealer of other exotic cars that has a corner office dedicated to the brand. Or worse, in my case here in Dallas. It’s a used car dealer lol.
Yeah the support and sales network is a joke
All of the above has never stopped Lotus prices staying high before?
As one of that handful of guys I'd like to make it known that it's quite a nice shed.
Saw my first one in the UK, parked on a drive. The owner had to take it back a few times, without network I wouldn't bother until its a couple of years older
I feel emira prices have started a will continue to fall
As you say there is already and will be many more produced so though to me it is a much better built and refined car oversupply will push prices down over time
Though evoras have a following I can’t see that protecting them long term from being pulled down by emiras oversupply, so be interesting where they stabilise at, personally I think it will be the similar to emira or lower, possibly other than the gt4 or other hard core variants
Personally I would have a emira anyday looks much better, and more developed, just as tuneable
Plus easier to get in and out of
Other thing is selling on a Evora privately is always going to be a harder, longer term thing as the pool of buyers will be much lower
Can you please do an analysis on Mclaren 600lt and 720s?

T4YC. It's a confusing picture. Can I suggest a better option is an Alfa 4C?
horrible car compared to the evora gt
@@jaystrix Very different cars! And "horrible"? Really? Have you ever worked as a diplomat?
I havent even seen a single stock in ky area hows it dpreciatijg already? Must be depreciating from very high markups if this is the case.
Its like.impossible to get it in my area 😂
He’s talking about the UK
As shown in the video, the data for the depreciation rate is mainly based on the UK market and to a lesser extent on the German market. For the US, there is not yet enough data.
End of year many cars be dropping lots more . Wait !
Ots relatively simple. The Emira is a mass producdd car. Only 24 Evoras vs 94 available on AT right. Another 33 brand new Emiras on the Lotus website too.
Evoras will hold and Emiras will continue to depreciate, albeit incrementally.
Emiras seem to depreciate at a more "typical" rate: 25% in Y1.
So wait four years and get one free! 😂
I've bought one since this comment.
🤣
I think the Evora was bought by enthusiasts only and hence are rarer, the Emira has been bought by some enthusiasts, but also flippers and customers who would never have bought a Lotus before, so now there are more cars than customers so I predict that the rarer Evora will ultimately be worth more even if the Emira is arguably the better car
I’m seeing 43 Emiras for sale $97,000-$122,000 averaging around $112,000. Knowing the price from factory is $72,000-$96,000 idk where your getting this “prices are tumbling” please send me the link to these tumbling prices so I can buy one 🤦♂️
It is clearly explained in the video.
Let the price fall so i can get one
I know both cars well; what is the consensus do you all think about the evora’s suspension tuning vs the emira? I think the Evora GT effectively has the Emira’s sport suspension. Given the cars are so similar, suspension tuning (mechanically at least) may be the greatest delta. I’m also curious if the Emira solved the throttle response issue the Evora has. It’s true what they say about it being difficult to heel-toe for that reason.
Yes. Completely solved the throttle blipping issue. -Evora S / Evora GT owner who test drove the Emira on a few occasions. -Ps. Aftermarket tunes on the Evora seems to fix it as well.
@@jmolin8808 thanks. Does that mean yes to the suspension question or to the throttle one? And what did you do to fix the throttle issue more specifically if you don’t mind me asking? If a link to where I can learn about it is easier for you, that’s fine too.
@@stephenhester7354 Throttle Blipping. There are too many to list. Emira Sport suspension basically the Evora GT's factory tuned suspension. The Emira Touring suspension is more like the older S and 400 car. There is a wealth of information on lotusTalk.com .
Hype and mania around Emira was always going to lead to a reality check as many jumped on the bandwagon thinking they would make a profit. Now the party is over, the speculators are long gone and the hangover is kicking in. Problem for Emira is Lotus need to make masses of them and they pitched it below the outgoing Evora in performance and price in order to keep the costs down and the sales high. Since then, price inflation has pushed the Emira back up to Evora 410 prices but performance hasn't changed. Turbo 4 Emira was launched as a 'sub £60k' sports car which attracted a lot of deposits. Now they are finally being delivered, Lotus are asking over £80k for them.
Emira buyers are won over by the looks, without that a 981 S is the value choice
The Emira has been developed for the mass (compartively) market. The Evora for Lotus fans. This is similar to normal Porsche and GT Porsche. Whilst the Emira to my eyes looks better the Evora is more of a drivers car, drivers dont care about weight adding modern stuff - why do you need heavy electic motors for your seat? Weight of Emira is 1,458kg, weight of standard Evora is 1,248kg a difference of circa 17%. That really matters to car guys. Emora has numbed out feel for better quality feel - not what car guys want, it is what mass markwt wants. Yes Emira has better power ro weight, but car guys value light weight. Original Evora very rare and at bottom of depreciation curve. So value chouce is buy the best standard Evora that you can find.
Evora I find more appealing
Emira is a fantastic car to drive but it's reducing to where it should be in price. Lotus should not have increased the new price. This made deposit holders bail, increasing stock levels and decreasing values. If they had kept oringal price they would be in a much better place but now the ugly spectre of depreciation has set in place. Just like mclaren. Was a HUGE mistake by Lotus and has spoiled the ownership proposition of a truly great car.
Price decreasing now, but this is probably the last ICE lotus. It'll be incredibly valuable in the future. If i had a spare 80k I'd buy one right now.
Car depreciation is yesterday's news.
Yes get an Evora; it's a better car, as well as rarer.
1 argument. You’ll see the prices on emiras when the world goes electric.
Bought a 2011 Evora S with 60 k kms in Jan 2023. Paid 40 K USD and I could not be happier with this car! (I think they look better than the Emiras, but I know this is totally subjective).
Amiras will depreciate to the point of being less than the latest Evoras within a year or two.
The Toyota and Mercedes running gear loses any exotic appeal.
It's unfortunate these negative comments about a company that is doing everything to be profitable with their last ICE car. I'm not an Lotus owner but instead of criticisms, outline the positives they have done. Just because you focus on one country does not mean it reflects the entire part of the world. Be open minded
If you're buying a car based on how much it will appreciate or depreciate (instead of how fun it is to drive) then you're an especulator, not a car person.
