Just got my blood tests done for the first time in adult life. Non-HDL cholesterol is quite high for me to feel comfortable. I smoke and eat a lot of processed foods. That was a wake up call! What perfect timing for this conversation. Thanks!

I Love how strict you are on HRT evaluation. I was left on it for 15 years and stopped after I got Advanced Edometrial cancer.
    Thank you for protecting women!🙏

Grapefruit juice and grapefruit lowers both high cholesterol and high blood pressure. This got my husband off his BP meds and got my lipid panel down to normal. My BP was not high, but did not make my BP too low. But if you are on BP meds or on Statins, you need to ask your doctor about the grapefruit.
Myself, I’d much rather eat a fruit or drink its juice, but I never was bad enough with cholesterol to take statins.

I do respect the view but my cholesterol number was 270, I went on just plant based food for like 60 days and my number dropped to 199. I started eating bad again and it went back up to almost plus 60 point again…
I strongly believe if you go on statin, It will surely work but as soon as you stop taking it… Your number will jump back up, meaning you are just controlling the number but not treating the disease.
So please save yourself from the side effect of statin and just change your eating habits.
The hardcore you go on plant base food, The more result you get..
My own personal view is that what you put in your mouth determines your numbers… You do not need any medication… Zero ❤
I am not a doctor but trust me… I have no benefit either way… But eating natural help…
    Good luck!!!

Love the interview, but disagree with the topic of beans. Some people cannot tolerate beans regardless if they eat just a little. Polyphenols found in beans and legumes prevent our gut enzymes from breaking down the proteins into amino acids causing excessive secretion of the enzyme Trypsin. I'm not saying I'm against eating beans, but they're not for everyone.

I am 70 y/o F stents in LAD 4 years ago. Recent LDL 370! I am 100% whole food plant based sprout eater. I have familial high LDL. Should I get an ApoB test? Would statins influence better outcomes or just better numbers?

My cholesterol has never been over 148. Now it is 115. My ldl has been 70. Yet...I still developed heart disease. I have plaque in my LAD. I want a statin but my doc won't give me a script bec my cholesterol is so low.

    • @kwilson4125
      @kwilson4125 2 місяці тому +1

@betzib8021 What you said is so interesting because it could conflict with a lot of the information that we are told.
Do you eat a high sugar or high diet? Have you had your hormones checked, including your thyroid? Have you been checked for Hashimoto's or food sensitivities to dairy, egg, soy or gluten? If you are a woman, did your cholesterol raise during premenopause or menopause? If you’re a man or woman, did you check for low testosterone?
I agree with your doctor not putting you on statins BUT I don’t agree with abandoning you without an answer or solution to why you have HD and plaque. It sounds like you need to check all your hormones and for insulin resistance and start studying how to reverse heart disease. You have to also be your own doctor.

My mother was on statins for many years and she complained about muscle aches and bad memory all the time. She eventually came down with Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s and died at the age of 80. I know someone who has been on statins for just over 5 years who is now suffering from Parkinson’s disease. I have also heard many doctors talk about the possible connection here between the medications and these diseases. I don’t know what is going on but am very suspicious.

So am I and my dr got so annoyed because I refused statins. He asked why and I answered honestly and said," it causes extreme muscle wasting to the point of debilitating and eventually causes heart problems. Now knowing there are links to Parkinson disease, no thanks. I'm take my chances going natural and mostly vegan. Here's to natural medicine.

In August of 23 my overall totall cholesterol was 199 jump to current date 2/23/24 i am at 268. How did this happen in such a few short months with no change in diet? No processed or fast foods, soft drinks or candy. I am however, under tremendous stress being my 92 tr old fathers caretaker and his health is so fragile being a full blown diabetic. No light at the end of the rainbow it seems.

I am also a full time caregiver of a 90 year old relative with dementia. Caregiving comes with stress and irregular sleep/rest. Often, snacking or stress eating. You could be eating the same foods as before but the body may respond differently. I found that time restricted eating of 12 hours helps. I am diabetic and on medication. Also, a heart patient on stating after 5 stents.
