Haha! Impressive, and I like the touch of raking information. When friends ask me about nuances, I wonder what they're talking about until their questions get better and figure my hands know a lot more about picking than they've shared with my brain. Going through all the rakes on a lock vulnerable to attack is something I do too. Since I was looking at new rakes the other day and I like the case, I might have to try these. Gotta agree with the critique about tensioners, but since I have a crapload, it shouldn't be a problem. Fun review!
Hi Bill. Long time watcher, contributed to your fund, first time posting. Just wanted to say I find your videos really educational and fun to watch. You and LPL got me into locksport
There's another technique I call The Grump's Shove, where you use a pry bar but you insert it into the BOK. Used thus it provides excellent control, and better rotational tension than your typical L-wrench, while not exerting so much force against the cylinder wall, thus reducing binding. It's ideal for raking. You can even see it demonstrated in Sparrows demo video for their original Mace Picks set. Not a huge fan of those particular tools, but watch The Grump's Shove being demonstrated, and you'll see that including a pry bar with a raking set was no mistake. ;)
And by the way, the Petersen No-teeth Pry Bar, and Lite versions are particularly well suited to this task, though the standard Pry Bar Lite is also good. The .050 is less often the right fit, but still fairly common.
Great looking rakes. Agree the tensioner mix could be better; however, that isn't stopping me from placing an order. Thanks for breaking up the week with the Saturday review midweek!
I bought a re-pinnable Master like that to have a trainer for myself.. and it came with basically the same bitting. I almost sent it in to the lab as a shame piece, heh. Looks like Master got one to you anyways. Mine is pickable with a tension wrench. Jam the handle end in, lift it up, turn, lock pops open.
I look forward to the second video on the Dangerfield Polaris Rake Picks where two Euro Cylinders, three star with kite marks is the chosen locks. (U.K.)
This was great. I am just starting out with lock picking so not only was this a great review but it was very informative on how to use the different types of rakes.
Not sure why you are apologizing for that locks bitting, isn't that how all Master's come?? Kidding (or not) aside, very nice, indepth review Bill. I think we all appreciate you taking the time to go through each item in the kit, and providing a demonstration. Thanks Bill!
Would you please pick that lock by rocking the handle of a tension wrench in the keyway just to further embarrass Masterlock for the kind of crap they manufacture? A separate video would be great. Thank you!
I have one of those commercials and it gives me trouble!! The bitting is much better and the feedback is very delicate. I just don't understand why so many come so terrible.
It looks like you are zipping that lock with the last 2. I am very interested in those last 2 rakes. Agree about the tensioners. I have more tensioners than picks.
"Honey, would you mind if I did a little raking tonight???" "Um...it's 3am dear, but if you want to, it's ok with me......wait.....what in the hammered hell are you planning to do with that damned thing buster? You can put that one eyed critter right back in it's cage, I have an early start in the morning. Now, cut the shit and get your happy ass out there and take care of the leaves if you are going to. When you're done, have fun sleeping on the couch." Rapid entry = denied. Sadness and confusion ensues. Poor guy. :( :( :(
Hi Bill, I have been going back watching your older and newer vids for a bit now you keep it fun and interesting. I have learned alot just from listening to you and looking. Before i just started and tried what i saw on diffrent channels. However not much success. Now thanks to you, i usually have not alot of problems opening padlocks! Next up is,some older doorlocks my father had lying around. A whole new chapter and challenge ! I have faith i will succeed after watching and trying enough, experience does not come cheap! I do have a question, i am using a combination of 2 REALLY cheap picks. Wich i am starting to notice, I am a Eu person, Belgium if that is also a difference for locks. After watching some of your reviews i’m not sure wich better set to buy, to get more serious. The ones i found that i can buy and you reviewed are Southord picks specifically the C801 and the C2010 for my learning and usage what would be the better choice? C2010 is like kinda where my budget stops, if there is a kit that is better for not much more i might go the extra bit, i hope you or someone here could help me out! Thank you for the great videos, tutorials, reviews they really help me get an idea of this world! Thank you !
The Dangerfield praxis kit is great I just purchased it comes in two thickness for around 50 euro plus two top of the key way tensioners just needs some shrink tubing(Aldi 3euro) on the handles you can use a lighter to heat it on . Bill has a video on it and uses them all the time.
I think you already got it down, the c801 looks like a nice practical set, then just upgrade it with one or two bogota's and top of the keyway tensioners, having the right tension is often more important than having 50 different picks.
Josuel Servin i do not have the set yet wondering wich of those 2 i woul purchase maybe tht are fit for Europe padlocks and doors. I am open to diffrent suggestions like the one made here by someone else, this is just what i have gathered. Also struggling with why 1 and not the other i know there is a price diffrence and diffrent tools but i admit to say i don’t know nearly enough to trust myself with that decision, i simply have not got the knowledge. Thank you four the tip i will keep it in mind.
I always recommend the SouthOrd PXS-14, because is cheap, durable and good enough for beginners, ask your friends and family for old and unused locks and buy a few cheap ones. Once you tray that and play enough you may notice your first kit is not the best for certain applications, perhaps the locks are in euro profile and with paracentric keyways or perhaps you want to tray your ability with a challenge lock, for those advanced applications that Dangerfield praxis kit with those .015" or the C2010 with that variety may be great, but they come with clear limitations, they are fragile and if mishandled are easily bended and/or broken. So don't sweat it to much, go for for something cheap but good, and learn with practice what you may need and like, I for example love to make my own picks and teach my friends and family about the sport, so find what you really like and build from there, the community is always here to help.
Great review. However, since any old rake can open that lock it doesn’t show the value of such a variety. Perhaps a video featuring a hand full of locks requiring the different rakes?
I think he is trying to point out that the technique is often more important when using rakes than the specific tool, but that different tools can be used more effectively on different locks, but that comes with practice.
I always thought raking would be easy, and it is when it works, I am so terribly inconsistant when raking. I need to build my lock collection up a bit though, hard to tell if you are doing it properly when you are picking the same 5 locks over and over. Great video I always come away woth something - thanks Bill
Thanks to you B. Bill, I wanted to get into lock picking, and found it very satisfying when you get that first one open, its like crack. You want more. Also thanks to your reviews, I have spent $100k on picks, and with these slow ass shipments... I should receive packages till I retire or die hahaha. Bought this set.. I actually recently got rakes to work. Been single picking for a long while, had no confidence in a rake. I think that should be first now... then SPP.. learning from the master ;-)
That was too funny as soon as you showed that key. I am still laughing that made my day. Good video I have that set and enjoy a few of them; the case while thick is nice.
That's a really really nice set of rakes. I've been looking for a set of nice rakes and if I don't win these I will be buying a set after Christmas. They are awesome!
I have been kinda paying attention to the "you won" section on the locklab website and I have noticed some people win multiple times. I am starting to wonder how random that drawing really is.
Have you seen that master lock is using ball bearing locking mechanisms in the no3? We use them for LOTO at work and I was putting one on a valve the other day and it had ball bearings instead of the little tabs like they usually do.
Bill, how can you review a 65$ rake set on a Master lock ? it just doesn't give them any credibility, if I was going to buy a rake set I would like to see them open one or more "proper" locks, that Master lock would have fell open if you had shouted at it, come on Bill, we expect better from you.
A beginner's set has to have the classical tools: hooks, half ball and diamond, a couple of rakes and a bunch of tensioners. This is an intermediate set for those that love raking and want more options in that category.
Here's what I don't get with these lockpick companies, the Polaris 12-piece rake kit is $70 but they also have a 21-piece pick Praxis kit for $60. Sure, one set is rakes and one set is picks but it's basically the same amount of material per tool so why is a smaller kit more money?
The two "new ones" sort of remind me slightly of the prince and princess but with some city style bumps added. I'm currently trying to justify the £50 UK price tag to myself
Why are you reviewing a pick set with that master lock? It'd probably pop open if you just wave that folder of picks at it in a mildly threatening manner.... Not really a test is it?
its masterlock #3 he uses on these reviews a.o. a way to show how bad masterlocks "can" be? and choosing a medeco that maybe 1 rake in 20 reviews can open would be kind of boring to
Ukbumpkeys is a good supplier with quick delivery and competitively priced... I’ve purchased a number of times.. although you don’t get the off freebie like you do from uklockpickers
Guess I'm saying..you play around with them before the review...use a naughty bucket lock with a new cool pick set and show us the skill and how might these new tools hold up as well
Been following for a couple of years now. If i understand correctly only patreons can enter the giveaway? My financial status is next to zero basicly since I am dependant on social benefits. So I have no funds to donate, but I'd still like to enter the giveaway. Been making my picks from windshield wipers, but the reach is just too undeep. A set like this would help me a lot! Anyways thanks for the good content again Bill.
It would be cool if instead of buying a "shit" lock to show a neat pick set with ..you take a bucket list lock out and try it for a better video of you picking as well... Pick and review ...review and pick
A drunk monkey could've picked that lock with a piece of string cheese. I mean seriously Master, whiskey tango foxtrot?!
Lima Oscar Lima
i realize I'm kind of off topic but does anyone know a good site to stream newly released tv shows online?
@Alex Layne I use Flixzone. Just google for it =)
@Lian Van Yup, been watching on flixzone for since march myself :D
Haha! Impressive, and I like the touch of raking information. Thank you sir, it is always nice to get some feedback, especially GOOD feedback! 😀

Mine is pickable with a tension wrench. Jam the handle end in, lift it up, turn, lock pops open.
Can't wait. Mine are arriving first thing.
Raking is.massively underrated and even effective against some of the better locks out there.
I look forward to the second video on the Dangerfield Polaris Rake Picks where two Euro Cylinders, three star with kite marks is the chosen locks. (U.K.)
I’m curious, you mention they are Toool designs, did the manufacturer attribute the design to Toool?
need it, need it need it....been drooling over the TOOOL set for a while now, very excited to catch this particular notification
What about calling the last 2 rakes "Rorschachs" ?
I thought the same thing.
I commented the same thing before going though comments lol
No master key lol
The case itself is beautiful.
The picks are pretty as well.
Very nice set, Mr. Bill!
This looks like a great raking set for pro's & newbies alike. Can't wait to get one of these! Another excellent review, Bill! Thanks!
I've seen rakes 9 and 10 before. The SouthOrd pin cylinder lock jiggler set has them.
You should check out the nano Polaris set. I have been EDCing it for a while now. And love them. These rakes eat threw some pretty imposing locks.
I just received the email that these were available. Glad to see the review on them. Thanks.
I have used a city rake as a key in a master lock before, once I inserted it to the correct depth.
Would you please pick that lock by rocking the handle of a tension wrench in the keyway just to further embarrass Masterlock for the kind of crap they manufacture?
A separate video would be great. Thank you!
Love this kit...nice and slim, I would just add a couple different sized BOK tensioners...as you said.

These lock picking channels have become a hive of degeneracy.
uh huh....
Try hard enough and anything can be offensive.
"Honey, would you mind if I did a little raking tonight???"

:( :( :(
That's why subscribe to them... :-)))
It's gonna male your butt sweat
This set looks really cool. Great video!
This is a perfect gift for my rakist uncle.
that was just sad. Master lock should cry after this posted. great review.
That is pretty cost comparable, and would be a great set up rakes to add as an addition. A few more tension wrenches would be nice.

i would really love to have that manual. do you have a link to where i can get it?
I wonder if those last two might have been modeled after, or inspired by, the old King and Queen design rockers?

Looks like a well thought out set.
Sold..... I brought a set! Thanks for the video upload 👍
Is it impossible to lock the door??
Thanks to you B. Bill, I wanted to get into lock picking, and found it very satisfying when you get that first one open, its like crack. You want more. Also thanks to your reviews, I have spent $100k on picks, and with these slow ass shipments... I should receive packages till I retire or die hahaha. Bought this set.. Can you go in their shop? is it like an open store?
Those two ink blots look pretty wild. Thanks!
very amazing video well done and I love listening to your videos as I am blind and I am a white cane long cane user
Which set is better the peterson waves and city rakes or this set??
4:58 made me laugh, I was going to say the same thing. I bet you could open it using 2 tension wrenches, by using one of them as a pick.
great set to own and use with excellent results
Masterlock Bill in action ;-) Why do you use still Masterlocks in your videos ???
i just want one of those cases. keep the picks even though they're cool I'd rather just have that case. Are the cases for sale??
Praised the printout, no info on how to get it...
Great review Bill!
That was too funny as soon as you showed that key. I am still laughing that made my day. Good video I have that set and enjoy a few of them; the case while thick is nice.
How can I buy that pick ??
That's a really really nice set of rakes. I've been looking for a set of nice rakes and if I don't win these I will be buying a set after Christmas. They are awesome!
shangrila50019 limite edition 5000 piece.
For the 9 and 10, I propose: "splatter" and "ridge"
Rake 9 and 10 are the types of things I always wanted to make.
and here I thought it ends at the tripple peak and the City rake (the only 2 i have lol)
How do I buy just the case? I like that one a lot
awesome, gonna enter the contest for sure this would be great for my very first rake kit!
You really should edit this and any other vids that are this old but have a time-sensitive contest in them. Seriously.
Great job on the review
I JUST GOT THEM ALL EXCEPT THE LAST 2.FOR $12.00..NICE VID.THANKS FOR SHARE'ING☼
I have been kinda paying attention to the "you won" section on the locklab website and I have noticed some people win multiple times. I am starting to wonder how random that drawing really is.
I do see the same names pop up quite often, that's kinda why I don't bother with the giveaways anymore
I don't do a lot of raking but that is a really nice set.
Have you seen that master lock is using ball bearing locking mechanisms in the no3? We use them for LOTO at work and I was putting one on a valve the other day and it had ball bearings instead of the little tabs like they usually do.
Did I see an "Improved" sticker on that master lock? Wonder what thats about..
I almost busted a gut laughing when I saw the bitting, lol
Almost 1400 episodes how?
Bill,
how can you review a 65$ rake set on a Master lock ? it just doesn't give them any credibility,
if I was going to buy a rake set I would like to see them open one or more "proper" locks,
that Master lock would have fell open if you had shouted at it, come on Bill, we expect better from you.
Have you just been to the UK? You could have called round for a cup of tea !
Maybe Master locks works in partnership with rake manufactures. lol.
Looks like a great beginners set
A beginner's set has to have the classical tools: hooks, half ball and diamond, a couple of rakes and a bunch of tensioners. This is an intermediate set for those that love raking and want more options in that category.
i know its not a classical pick set but i think its a good berginner set for raking
Great Info~ Thanks!
10:35 "they'll give it up to a soda straw." now you're going to have to open a Master with a plastic straw!
After seeing it open with a chicken bone I know for sure that anything is possible....
Thanks
great video!!
I grabbed these just becuase of your video.
I know you had other locks lying around to try
Here's what I don't get with these lockpick companies, the Polaris 12-piece rake kit is $70 but they also have a 21-piece pick Praxis kit for $60. Sure, one set is rakes and one set is picks but it's basically the same amount of material per tool so why is a smaller kit more money?
Flap across top of case retains the picks. I think.
check the profile of 9 10 against the south ord 13 piece jiggler keys
You're always raking in your videos when using pry bar type tensioners. ....
The two "new ones" sort of remind me slightly of the prince and princess but with some city style bumps added.
I'm currently trying to justify the £50 UK price tag to myself
Number ten brings me the picture of a siren sitting on a rock, hence the name I give it : Siren.
Why are you reviewing a pick set with that master lock? It'd probably pop open if you just wave that folder of picks at it in a mildly threatening manner.... Not really a test is it?
its masterlock #3 he uses on these reviews a.o. a way to show how bad masterlocks "can" be? and choosing a medeco that maybe 1 rake in 20 reviews can open would be kind of boring to
Great video
What camera is this?
Sony RX100V
Thanks!
YES DANGERFIELD

Rake a Best WG core ;)
Been following for a couple of years now. If i understand correctly only patreons can enter the giveaway?
My financial status is next to zero basicly since I am dependant on social benefits. So I have no funds to donate, but I'd still like to enter the giveaway.
Been making my picks from windshield wipers, but the reach is just too undeep. A set like this would help me a lot!
Anyways thanks for the good content again Bill.
Krmpiej hi Patreons are automatically entered everyone else have to register for that weeks giveaway on the lock lab website
@@baronvonmarshall6767 Ah well that sounds great! I'll do that right away thanks!
Let's get lucky? ^^
maybe 9 and 10 would work for raking a car lock? maybe?? I dunno, those are indeed goofy-lookin'
It would be cool if instead of buying a "shit" lock to show a neat pick set with ..you take a bucket list lock out and try it for a better video of you picking as well... Pick and review ...review and pick
Nice
Raketastikly delicious
