  • Okay fine, shoulder length hair, a long bob okay? I recently wore these larger victory rolls in a video or two here on the channel and I asked if any of you would like to see how I do them, so here's that! This is just a little bit different from my last victory roll tutorial (but I think it looks quite different in the end? eh?) so I apologize for being a bit repetitive :)

    If only i had known, you can do such fun things with chin length hair, before I cut it off completely!
    Although who am I kidding...I was always completely hopeless with hairstyling tools - I couldn’t even achieve regular curls without my arms falling off and suffering several burn injuries 😎
    For me, watching these videos is like watching a magic trick...I‘m totally in awe 😉

      Thank you! Even with so many years of practice, I do occasionally end up with iron burns too ;)

    Sweetie, you are just adorable. Your hair turned out just lovely, and your RIGHT Sally's bobbies are amazing.
    God Bless you, Thanks for sharing.

    This vintage hair tutorial is a big inspo for my drag look. It's got very vintage gothic vibes. Thank you so much.

    Ah this is exactly the one I was looking for. Its weird but once you start with pin curls, you are doing it so often it gets to be habit, and therefore, easier, really quickly. I still havent got used to visualising pinup/retro looks quite yet, but I am getting there...I subbed and liked!

      Thank you! I'll admit they do get a lot of funny looks in suburbia where I live, I went grocery shopping like this ;)

    You are very brave to do your hair and make-up before getting dressed. I have completely ruined my hair and I got make-up all over my clothes when I've tried that.

      'Twas a stretchy necklined t-shirt, also I was wearing a button down blouse this day too so I didn't have to pull anything on over this look which helped :)

    I love the little mini-rolls on the side of your pony tail! I'm so glad I saw this vid - my hair is the same length and I find curling it (especially the bottom back) so hard. So seeing how you divided your hair, and how you styled the back was really helpful :)

    How’d you learn to do all this? Amazing! Also, how do you keep your hair in such beautiful condition?

    • @TheClosetHistorian
      @TheClosetHistorian  5 років тому

      Thank you Rachel! I learned through lots of practice and through many videos here on UA-cam of course! My hair is actually not in the super best shape right now as my ends (the faded/lighter colored parts you can see quite well in this video) are damaged from being bright purple this time last year. Mostly I try to always use a leave in conditioner spray (I use one from the brand Carol's Daughter) and haven't been coloring it which has helped!

    This is cute. It resembles dark roses. Could this style be achieved heatless? Lovely video as always ♥️

    • @TheClosetHistorian
      @TheClosetHistorian  5 років тому +1

      Thank you Lele! I definitely think the same look could be achieved heatless with pin curls or foam rollers too, as the hair really just needs a bit of texture and curl to be coaxed into the victory roll shapes.

      I wish I knew more about hairstyling different hair types and textures so I could be of more help :( I'll try to remember to ask my hairdresser friend for her advice on victory rolls for those with thinner hair types.

      You could try some sort of small false hair balls or something similar inside the victory rolls to give them some volume? Ladies with too little hair for the most fashionable hairstyles of their time have used false hair to bulk up their updos for centuries. Even medieval women used false braids made out of flax

    Wait, I normally hate victory rolls, but they're so cute when they're little from shorter hair!! How long does this take you (not sped up lol)?

    • @TheClosetHistorian
      @TheClosetHistorian  5 років тому

      Thank you Shilyn! I would say it depends on how full-on I am being with curling the rest of my hair properly. The victory rolls themselves can take me as little as 5-10 minutes really, it's setting the rest of my hair that takes another 20 minutes plus! I can sometimes get away with curling the back a lot more loosely and putting it in a snood or scarf, or if I do this style on 2nd day hair it is much faster for sure!

  • @MsInunnguaq
    @MsInunnguaq 5 років тому

    Great style, but I think you sped through the tutorial a little too fast.

    • @nena.canela3047
      @nena.canela3047 5 років тому

      If you want to watch some parts more slowly, you can change the speed of the video! :)

    • @TheClosetHistorian
      @TheClosetHistorian  5 років тому

      Thank you! Mostly I sped through the curling since I did it so similar to my last tutorial on a really similar style, and didn't want to bore everyone with the same thing again. I think I may do a "in (almost) real time" video soon where I have a really long video of me doing my hair at near actual speed and put it on my other channel for those who'd like to watch the whole process. :)

    You should start collecting your hair out of your brush and make yourself some hair “rats”.
