Wow great b role shots! Very cool content.
Thank you brother! @Ace of Spades appreciate you watching and your support. ***Marcello TSAV
Excilent comparison 👏🏽👍🏽
Thank you @Eastgreenlander ! ***Marcello TSAV
nice comparison! will you also compare it to the LCD-X (2021) also? would be interesting to see if the extra cost for the MM-500 is worth it (other than for the weight difference)
You are a very good reviewer !
Thank you DJ_URBAN_BG appreciate you! ***Marcello TSAV
hello,I just want to use one earphone and don't want to be tired of switching devices all the time depending on the type of music. I listen to 80% classical and 20% jazz and pop. I have also seen the audeze mm500 so far, and I think the instrument part is quite good, and the vocals are in the front, so the female voice sounds good. Do you recommend other headphones at this level? I think the sound field of the mm500 is okay. For classical music, the instrument tone is not too modified. , the low-frequency dive is enough for jazz. I don’t know if I understand this right?
I tried these both at the source AV. The mm-500 has a more satisfying punch in the bass and was just straight up more enjoyable for me. The difference in detail retrieval is smaller than the difference in bass slam to my ears. It depends what you index for but I had a better time with the mm-500. EQ really takes both of these to the next level.
Glad you came down to see us! Appreciate you @JaxxMono ***Marcello TSAV
So is the Lcd 5 worth almost 3x times the MM 500? How close is the MM 500 to Lcd 5. I am a music producer and I dont want to shell out $4500 if I can get the same the MM 500 or even the MX4?
@@FierceLeo. I don’t think any headphone over 1000 is “worth” it but I still have several since you have no other choice if you really like it. They are very similar and if you wanna save money then mm500 is a no brainier.
@@JaxxMono Well I have the money to spend up to $2500. I am a producer, so I have to have headphones that reveals detail and errors easy....
@@FierceLeo. mm500 is extremely detailed. Lcd-5 is maybe 7% more detailed to my ears but it’s been a long time since I’ve heard them
So would adding bass on the newer RME 2/4 to the LCD-5's balance out the natural EQ balance? I believe the basic bass boost is a a shelf. I heard the LCD-5 can handle a lot of added bass.
I haven't tried with that RME, but yes a base boost is my preference with the LCD-5.
Can we expect a comparison between the MM-500 and LCD-X 2021 next?
Working on getting a loaner pair now! Thanks @n a I appreciate you ***Marcello TSAV
The one thing that makes me skeptical about the MM-500 for studio work is that all the reviews talk about how “nice” they sound. In contrast, many of the reviews of the LCD-5s bring up how they’ll tell you if it’s a bad recording. I use several pairs of headphones for this quality. I have a couple pairs of Austrian Audio’s studio headphones, which are brutally analytical and not really made for hifi listening, but instead are made to show you if something is out of balance or sibilant. I use my Clear MG pros for certain frequency ranges as well, but my LCD-Xs are a little too forgiving in my opinion. They give me a decent sense of the whole mix, but they aren’t as good at allowing me to hear resonances….they are just too smooth. I’ve ended up listening to them more for pleasure than mixing.
So did you agree with my take on which headphones I would choose @Tiffany Flanagan? ***Marcello TSAV
I think your assessment was fair. I’m saving for the LCD-5’s but I’m definitely going to check out the MM-500s in a listening room before i drop over 4 grand.
@@tiffanyflanagan1892 really why do you want to spend so much money for studio headphones?
Is it not one good pair enough to learn it very good and work with them?
@@tiffanyflanagan1892 focal clear are very very good. But I wanted a planar headphone.
Lcd -x 2021 with eq was almost perfect for me but too heavy for my head.
I ended up with the lcd-1 because I found it with 200euro and with some eq they are really good.
I would like to try some Austrian audio headphone, like the hi-x65. Just because of curiosity.
I tried also the Lcd-5 but they was somehow too mid forward for me.
I want multiple headphones for the same reason that studios have multiple sets of monitors, because they reveal different information. The Hi-X65s for instance, have most of their technical capabilities slanted towards the upper frequencies. This makes them great at helping you avoid areas in the treble regions where treble forward systems can cause problems, as well as helping with translation on phones and laptops.
I need some serious guidance on which headphones to choose... I would be upgrading from my hd650 (though i will be keeping them for referencing).
I'm a mixing & mastering engineer and i prefer to do most of the work with headphones.. I'm not sure if i should pull the trigger on the hd800s or mm-500.. Most of the work i do is rap, rnb & pop.
I feel like the 800s would be super solid for mastering purposes but maybe that's just it? please get back to me
Hi @JG I am not a mixing or mastering engineer but as I listener and vide editor I would lean towards the MM-500 for you use case. ***Marcello TSAV
I had the hd800 and also demoed hd800s a few days in the studio and in my opinion the MM500 are much better for studio work.
I feel like that's what most people are saying.. I'll go with the MM-500's.
Thank you so much for replying
Great respect for the Snarky Puppy! :)
It's time to review the Audeze MM-100.
How big of a jump are the MM-500 from the HD600?
@Muldoonite it has been a long time since I listened to the HD600 but I am working on getting a pair soon and I can give you a fair answer. From audio memory however they are a pretty big jump.
@@TheSourceAVDesignGroup I see. Thanks for the reply!
@@TheSourceAVDesignGroup i would hope there like 1200 dollars more then the 600’s lol
Why you don´t mention, which headphone amps you used for comparison? And whether you did set them differently because of the different specs? Magnetostatic Headphones are doing their best when they are used with a headphone amp. So, i am as baffled as before the video.
You may have missed it but I did mention the amps used for my impressions around the minute mark both tube and solid state. If you have a question let me know and I will do my best to help.
@@TheSourceAVDesignGroup I am sorry, you mention it right at the beginning.
The most headphones suffer in classical music.I wonder though how lcd 5 competes with a hi end iem of the 2000 -3000 dollar range..Wouldn t be this an interesting video? You can t bit the practicality of an iem..I take 10% for the idea ..😉
