    Hey guys! You can use branches a few inches in diameter from the trees you cut down. Lay them on the ground and stack your wood on top. This will help with airflow and keep the wood off the ground and prevent it from rotting.

    I love your campsite. If it were mine, I would pour a large concrete pad. Cover it with an awning. Then pull the airstream under it. This would protect your living space from the elements. It would also provide a larger living, play, cook area. Many blessings and I hope everyone is feeling better.

      I think it would lose some of its rustic appeal & they said they’re going to put a log cabin there someday. They need to leave it so they can be able to build a foundation. Just gravel should be enough for now. The large awning is a great idea though, if they anchor it deep. Otherwise it will just get stolen too. They really need a large metal gate!

    You might want to consider putting a gate at the entrance of your driveway. As long as you’re going to be away from this property you don’t want people to be able to drive right up to your camper and steal everything you have. A gate won’t prevent theft but it would be a deterrent. Hopefully no one will ever mess with your property. You shouldn’t stack your firewood directly on the ground. Stacking it on pallets or something else will prevent it from rotting as fast.

  • @raymondprohs4842
    @raymondprohs4842 День тому +56

    A couple/three things...
    For one, ya gotta have more than one entrance/exit. If one gets blocked for whatever reason you have the other as an escape route.
    Two, don't stack cut wood directly on the ground. You'll lose a lot of it to rot. Build a shed on a raised platform. The shed should be open on 3 sides and have a roof. Each open side of the shed should be draped by plastic tarps so that you can tie them down or open/roll them up as you wish.
    And, three, trees and branches fall. If they're within reach of any structure/building/mobile home, they can make a mess of it. If you have 10-meter tall trees around you, the bases of the trees ought to be 12 meters away from any structure/building/mobile home that you don't want put out of commission or destroyed.

    Great job clearing site, but remember how muddy it was, and will be even with gravel... There needs to be slope, and channels with drainage before you cover everything with gravel. It will just sink into soil when water arrives, so save yourself literally TONS of expense and work by addressing the water drainage now while you have a clean site and good conditions. It will pay you back many times over vs getting stuck, and being unable to use outside areas effectively.

    I think you guys should look into Waldorf education! I think you would absolutely love it! It is the most natural, organic, respectful way for a child to learn. Instead of you teaching her when you think she should be learning things, Waldorf meets a child right where their brain is developing. Waldorf schools do not introduce letters and numbers until first grade. And then they learn it between September and December and they’re already reading. They do this because that’s when the child is ready for it. Most people year after year after year from preschool to first grade are teaching their kids the same old thing trying to get them to learn their letters and numbers, when they should just wait and I’ll learn it easily. This is just an example. At her age up until kindergarten you develop the imagination through music, plays, storytelling, playing house, adventures in nature… you could make a sand pit for Sadie with old pots and pans and let her play in there for hours using her imagination. She can also learn coordination to develop the right and left brain connectors. Take your right hand and tap your left knee and then your left hand to your right knee. There’s a ton of information in books you could look into. A lot of homeschoolers use Waldorf because it’s so charming in a beautiful way to learn with nature.

    Seems like everyone has advice, so here is mine. Make your clearing really large so if any of those nice tall trees comes down, they won't land on your Airstream. Winter winds can wreak havoc with trees. Maybe 200 feet by 200 feet?? Kailey, hope you are feeling better!

    You're going to want plow markers along the path. I would also go the extra mile to have a giant RV carport structure installed over the airstream to protect it from the weather. Even just a simple metal setup will protect from snow buildup on the roof, rain, sun wear and tear when you're not there and even when you are there. That kind of structure can prevent a lot of unplanned future repairs. A little added protection for a little piece of mind when you're not there.

    Firewood is generally stored outdoors or in a woodshed, but the wrong location can leave it susceptible to moisture from snow melt. If it gets wet, it can start to rot. It also attracts termites, which can be a problem if it's stored too close to your cabin.

    They ALL come home to roost eventually. Chrome-Canada, Trent & Allie-Utah, Bec & Eamon-Canada, Vanwives-Canada, Max & Occy-Australia, & now the morning movement. Eventually, Panama will be the vacation land & America is where Sadie will grow up in. The only good thing is when The Morning Movement will move back to the United States 10 out of 12 months & the Jungle boy will inherit all the land & work for Lola farm.

      Don’t think he’ll inherit it. Think he is playing farm hand at he moment looking after goats and dogs that don’t belong to him - just like the land…lol
