Eeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkk! I convinced my parents to let me take out my budgie so they have room to play and fly. Because of you showing me the Target training trick, I convinced my parents to let me take out my birdie! Thank you SOOOO much! I always watch you!
@@ElleAndTheBirds Exactly! I didnt want my bird to be in the cage all day. My other birds died super quickly when I was younger because I never took them inside my house because I always forgot to. I want this bird I'm getting to have the best 10-15 years! Thank you so much!!! I love you and your videos! Your making people with birds have more helpful lives with taking care of their bird! I will NEVER stop watching your videos! You are amazing!
That’s amazing, and sounds really cute - a little birb high five - maybe a high four or a high one! My rats can high five too - who knew rodents and birds could be so similar?
I taught this to my bird using my finger instead of target (she's scared of the stick for now!) and now she can do it without the hand cue! Thank you for teaching us :)
Probably every comment I post on your videos is just going to be a bunch of "thank you" because your advice has been life-changing for my cockatiel. First successful target training through the cage bars today. Hoping I can get him comfortable enough with it to get him to go to his new cage with it when it gets here because hand training is taking much longer.
Great concise demo of the target training concept. Can you do a video on bird body language? I love your style of teaching and explaining and would love to know what my future bird is telling me.
My cockatiel Lui learned to "target" then, "can you wave" and "high five" first with clicker training. He's learning "spin" now😊. Two things you did that I was a little surprised by were the facts that you were fine with Pearl touching the side of the stick and not the tip, and also you repeating the "turn around" request. But you obviously achieved success so great job! Lui is learning lots from your instructions! Thanks!
I trained my birds too. Yesterday I uploaded a video about that training. You can see, how they come, give foot, give kiss, come down, or come out of the aviary, come into the living room and doing slalom. Birds are sooooo clever😉🌸💕
Well done. I'm currently working on training my green cheek, Rio, to turn, spin, and roll with just verbal cues. It's slow going but he's got the counter clockwise (turn), now I'm working on clockwise (spin). He''s not a big millet fan, he'll nibble a little but no enthusiasm. He's always eager to train for safflower or hemp seeds.
Very cute!! Also, a good explanation, very easy to follow, I had seen the target thing before but wasn’t sure the purpose until now- thanks for explaining it! 😊, your birbs are so cute and well behaved, they’re too precious 😊🥰
Amazing!! My budgie showed up in yard one day. Its been almost 2 months now and she is trusting me more. She is older and after watching your videos I believe she was mostly in cage. I'm hoping in time she will want to fly and leave her play stand and cage a bit. Thanks for all you do!!!
Aww they are so well trained! You must have the patience of a saint. Louie is so stubborn. I just tried to teach him to put a harness on, and he will have nothing of it! 😂 I hope I’ll have better luck in the future with him, or with a future bird possibly..
Thank you! Training birds does take patience. Harness training is actually one of the most difficult behaviors to teach parrots, and not all birds end up wearing harnesses. Target training is much easier to start with ☺️
Live Laugh Birds Yeah. I’m saving this video though because you are right. Target training seems great. Louie better listen to me. He’s not really food motivated though so I’ll have to find something he likes.
I used to have like 14 parakeets years ago and now I’m down to 1 and he isn’t close with me at all I’ve tried to use the video on how to create trust but idk if since it’s been so long that I’ve had him I never really spent a lot of time with him before since I had so many birds idk if he will still be able to learn to trust or not. If you have any tips or tricks or any info about the situation I’d really appreciate it. Thanks. Btw keep up the great content it’s really simple and easy to follow along with for bird owners. 💞
Angel the budgie has really got the spin now 😂 she will do it all by herself so I can click and reward her lol. I think we are going to try to learn the wave next
I taught my conure how to spin just using my finger and sunflower seeds, she learned “spin” and also “kiss” (BOOP on the nose) in 2 days! She is so smart
I recently brought two male budgies they are the sweetest bundles of joy and I’m wondering How long did it take to teach pearl and any other of your budgies to target
Might try this one on Connie , don't think she be scared of stick as she like to play with the stick after she eaten her Vitakratt cracker, could you tell me where you got the sack with shredded paper from, as my other bird loves stuff like that , picking out the paper ty
Imma try to teach this to my cockatiel. I've already (indirectly) taught them (4 months old) to step up, come to me, and walk down my arm and back into their cage.
Hiiiii, hope you’re doing fine! I adopted 2 budgies today so im very very new, watched way too many of ur vids AMAZING work!!! I wanted to know is it necessary to have millet to train them??? Is there any alternate of it?
Hello Elle! I enjoy watching your videos as i am getting a parrotlet from a breeder, quick question: If there was a way to train parrotlets to not attack other bird species would you get one?
Hi Elle, I have had my Conure for 3 weeks now his name is Mango. I rescued him from a shelter, he is very scared and timid with hands, as well as people. He has made progress slowly but I would love to target train him one he is not so scared of hands and objects. I enjoy all your videos thank you it helps so much. Any advice would help with how to train a scared and very timid Conure.😁
Wow amazing vidoe But is it okay when one of my budgies feet are kind a warm while my other two are okay , is my budgie sick but it doesn't have bubble feet
Whenever I try to target train my bird, he's like... Ooh I know you have a snack! Gimme gimme! Do you want me to turn? I'll do a spin! Now give me that snack! I could never use millets for training because he'd probably chase me down until it's all gone! :(
My bird finally doing spin trick good big thanks to u 🐦🦜but the problem is he do his trick only in the place where I train him when I took him to other place he is not doing this trick how to solve this ...??
What if you don’t have a target stick? What do you use? Can you give me some more videos about how to train your bird to eat veggies. Because my bird won’t eat veggies of fruit , thank you for all of your videos!
Eeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkk! I convinced my parents to let me take out my budgie so they have room to play and fly. Because of you showing me the Target training trick, I convinced my parents to let me take out my birdie! Thank you SOOOO much! I always watch you!
Omg! That totally makes my day, it’s so important to me that birds are interacted with and engaged with outside the cage!!! ❤️❤️

I didn’t know birds could spin too! That’s so cute 💕
Thank you! Your rats are good at spin 💕
i litterally didnt teach my bird and he already spins around when he wants me to pick him up. Btw he is clipped my parents wont let him free.
@@ElleAndTheBirds I've only seen this now, but thank you!
They can do A LOT or tricks! You can even teach them high five!
That’s amazing, and sounds really cute - a little birb high five - maybe a high four or a high one! My rats can high five too - who knew rodents and birds could be so similar?
Why is no one talking about how Pearl does the spin with so much energy- i mean she is the most energetic one!
Ahhh SO EASY! Thank you elle! Who knew the easiest trick to teach your bird can teach them so many more (harder) tricks!
My bird wasn’t so trusting of me and after this she trusted me a lot more tysm!! 🥺❤️❤️❤️
I taught this to my bird using my finger instead of target (she's scared of the stick for now!) and now she can do it without the hand cue! Thank you for teaching us :)
I’m gonna teach this to my birb♡
Awesome! Let me know how it goes 💜
So how did it go, lmao.
I was offering the Stick to my budgie. When you said "target" he touched It lol 😂😂😂
