I have lived here for 53 years. Its mostly a cesspool due to a severe lack of industry, lack of decent jobs, and absolutely insane tax rates. Homes in the south that are 4000 square feet carry tax bills that are 75% less than a 1800 square foot home in Mass. Mass also has the highest energy rates in the country. Be prepared for $400+ electric bills monthly. Horrendous infrastructure only adds to the level despair seen throughout western Mass. The vile spreading of a FAR left ideology can be frustrating for those who live with a sense of morals and personal responsibility over those who depend on government handouts to solve their problems.
