My special needs son loves trains 🚆🛤🚟🚋🚞🚝🚊🚉🚈🚇🚅🚄🚃 especially steam locomotives 🚂 like those! I personally like the Shays with their 3 pistons on the right side that move up and down instead of side to side, I think it is a very interesting mechanical system.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. We enjoyed seeing the Real Shays in our travels. One was at the Sacramento Train Show. Search on my channel for many other real live steam engine adventures.
Joe pretty much summed it up, the Shay and the Willamette may look strikingly similar (And in most basic respects are), but the Willamette is essentially an improved Shay.
Redneck2393 I am also helping restore a different Willamette. the Medco no.4 is part of the southern Oregon Railroad historical society. and we hope to have her running soon. telling from the two and the 4. not one willamette was built the same.

i like that whistle on 2.
Could I possibly use this footage for a documentary I’m planning on making about the railroad all works will be credited
You may use 3 minutes only and, as you said, credit my channel.
Cool
I honestly can't tell the diferance between that Willimate and a shay. Appearance wise they're pretty much completely identical
Almost. The only difference that I can spot is that the third cylinder isn't inverted on the Willamette, unlike the Shay.
Heidi Borjgman Schmange that and the Willimate was a improved and better design then the Shay.

Joe Newstead - Let me know when you have her running! I would love to see her!
