Gary Gulman is indeed once of the best, if not the best, comedians alive! He is well read (hence writing superbly), highly intelligent, way way down to earth, compassionate and an all around wonderful human being. Thank you Gary for being who you are and for the very important art/work you have been doing!
In addition to shining a light on mental health in a big way, Gary is also one of the finest joke writers of all time. The state abbreviations...omg dont drive while listening, it's too funny for that.
I love Gary Gulman. I got to see him perform in 2015, and it was absolutely phenomenal. He stayed in the lobby afterward to talk to everyone and take pictures with anyone who wanted them. He was such a great, down to earth guy.
I saw him on his tour this last fall and same! He stayed after to meet and sign book copies for every single person who waited in line to meet him (and there were a lot!). He was genuinely engaged with everyone he talked to, even asking US questions. It was so fun talking to him, and I even made HIM laugh…like “throw his head back” laugh! A nicer person you couldn’t meet. And oh yeah, he’s funny as hell too!
I’ve been a big fan of Gary for over a decade now, but after this interview I like him even more: he says he’s a big Rush fan and quotes “Subdivisions”! I love you, Gar!
Just when I thought I couldn't love G Gulman more, I find out he's a Rush fan and Subdivisions is the inspiration for his new book title. Rock on sir and thank you for sharing yourself 💙
Been a fan of his since he was on Last Comic Standing. To me, he and Louis CK are the best comic writers of their generation. However, my wife and I saw him last year in Tarrytown, New York and he actually came off as angry. He clearly loathes Seinfeld. We left wondering if his depression had returned.
Gary is the best. His phrasing and delivery really show how much work he puts in to writing and performing. Everything is always just so. "How much for the whimsy? Free whimsy at Banana Republic...while supplies last"
For anyone worried about his academics, he ended up at Boston University! And again thank you Gary, for making The Great Depresh available for everyone for free when HBO first released it. That mattered a lot more than even I expected - I got a little extra motivation from that & am on a mostly positive path back to working full time! ❤
Gary, I was absolutely picturing the 2-slicer; the "Deuce," as you called it. 💯%!!! I've never had a 4-slicer, never even dreamed of it. That's way too extravagant! 🤷♀️🤣
I just discovered Gary. I love stand up and can't believe I didn't come across him before. He is one of the most brilliant writers and performers, not to mention hysterical.
Most of his work is on here, esp if you can find the audio only version of his specials, they are usually released with totally different names tho. If you haven't seen The Great Depresh, make that your first.
"Oreo, have you been reading my diary?!" I love Gary, been following his career since Last Comic Standing. Always a delight when he pops up somewhere. Excited to read his book too 😁
Agree with all that you said. Seth and LNSM got me through the pandemic. I would have tears in my eyes every single time he would say "Good night, wash your hands, we love you" and you KNEW he meant it. I adore Seth, and his whole family. Cannot wait to hear the podcast with his brother!
If you haven't heard Gary Gulman's bits on the Grape, Fig Newtons, and Finding $20, Naming the States, etc you are missing out. The dude is very funny.
Knew some of his bits for a while but never followed him. That has changed in the past months and I hope I'm not an exception among those who slept on him. Awesome dude.
I’d never seen this guy before (I’m in the UK and don’t get out much) but after that book, and the stories, I’m more than a little bit in love. 🥰 😂 Harpy (sic) Hanukkah x
LOL I love the economy plus joke. I'm flying from Toronto to Honolulu direct and the couple with a baby next to me are like, "Hey do you want to switch seats so it'll be easier for us?". Me- "No. I prefer to be able to walk after this flight." Did not go over well and then they fought with each other after trying to scam me out of leg room for a baby. They got super mad around hour 4 when I asked if the baby sling thing could be in front of them instead of in my leg room that I paid for. The baby was actually great. The parents didn't shut up for like 6 hours out of 10 hours. I hope they are well.
I did kindergarten twice even though it turned out well for me I always lived with the stigma of being held back. It helps me to know I'm not alone. Btw I was picturing a four slicer. Love you Gary see you in salt lake on Friday
You mean "the" cabinet 🤣 PS- I think you should go further and change the bit to a single slice toaster and say "yeah and I bet you didn't even know they made those... yadda yadda"
I watched this when it aired and his comment about Rush "Subdivisions" struck. I love Rush too but that song was personal to me as a young Gen X, trying to figure out where I fit just as he said.
Rush lyrics are so amazing we all remember the lyrics/ even some English Literature classes use Rush lyrics/A Canadian Treasure known more in the U$A... RUSH
I go to the Banan for all my business shirts. But it’s not really about the style, the comfort, the affordability - it’s all about the whimsy. I’m glad someone else out there understands.
Haha I googled this dude the other day cuz I was thinking about him from YEARS ago but couldn't remember the name so I googled "Hot Jewish Comic" and he poped up 😅
Oreo has never read my diary. however, one time my mother-in-law came over to watch our children while my husband and i went off for the weekend on a trip. when we returned home, the first thing she said was, "do you even have a toaster?" i keep it in the cabinet; where it belongs.
I don’t think any other comedian has ever inspired me to just love his beautiful humanity as much as Gary has.
I thought comedians were supposed to make us laugh?
“Remember the guy who played Jerry on ‘Seinfeld’?”
Great delivery, so funny!
Probably the most underrated comedian, whose been doing this for decades. Stylistically so unique!
And one of the best! Spot on!!
Gary Gulman is indeed once of the best, if not the best, comedians alive! Before I finished reading your comment, I thought “I bet they’ll bring up the abbreviations…”
It’s such a pristine piece of work. It’s wonderful.
One of the greatest bits of all time!!
”You mean the *minute*?” That's sooooo Dottie!
"The Hierarchy of Cookies" was playing in my car, and I had to pull over. I am not making that up.
…if not THE best writer of all time
I love Gary Gulman. I got to see him perform in 2015, and it was absolutely phenomenal. He stayed in the lobby afterward to talk to everyone and take pictures with anyone who wanted them. He was such a great, down to earth guy.

Gary performed at my venue last year and I have never laughed so hard. He is a world-class comedian and a gem of a human being.
Perfectly said!
Every time I see Gary, I fall back in love with him over and over again
Gary is the best. His phrasing and delivery really show how much work he puts in to writing and performing. Everything is always just so. "How much for the whimsy? Free whimsy at Banana Republic...while supplies last"
The enunciation on "Ap....t"

Actually, he went to Boston College! They're two different schools.
"The Great Depresh" was recommended to me by my grief therapist after I lost my son. Gary Gulman is a lovely person.
Phew. I was worried
To be honest I'm still concerned about his post secondary education
@@morrisgreenberg5223 and he was on a football scholly, quite a talented tight end at the time.
One of my favorite comedians, seems like a great guy. I must've first seen him like 20 years ago, and he's still just as sharp.
Gary is very funny easy to understand he doesn't have to swear and this morning's the first time I had listened to him I will watch for him
“Do you know the guy who played Jerry on Seinfeld” is just great at 5:00 Love Gary saw him perform in 2023 so amazing.
One of the great modern comedic crafters.
Gary is the best! We must protect him at all costs.
Gary is a sweetheart.
I haven't seen anything new from him in a long time, but the one special I've seen of him I've seen so many times because I love it so much
Most of his work is on here, esp if you can find the audio only version of his specials, they are usually released with totally different names tho. If you haven't seen The Great Depresh, make that your first.
I also love Gary Gulman and appreciate Seth putting him on. A VERY under appreciated comedian. The guy’s a gem, as a person and comedian.
Gary Gulman is a model human. I absolutely love is sense of humor.
you have such great guests overall Seth. Interview skills are stellar.
"Oreo, have you been reading my diary?!" I love Gary, been following his career since Last Comic Standing. Always a delight when he pops up somewhere. Excited to read his book too 😁
The Hierarchy of Cookies is so damned good!
I discovered him and Amy Schumer on LCS and both lost to an unfunny Latino comic whose tired jokes harkened back to Paul Rodriguez. It was pathetic.
Two of my very favorite grown ups. What a treat! Gratitude to all at LNSM for the tremendous joy your show brings throughout the year. Thank you! 🤩
Agree with all that you said. Seth and LNSM got me through the pandemic. I would have tears in my eyes every single time he would say "Good night, wash your hands, we love you" and you KNEW he meant it. I adore Seth, and his whole family. Cannot wait to hear the podcast with his brother!
Thank you Seth! We love Gar!
Omg I'm hearing Gar do his brother's Boston accent "Gar, Gar, in THiS economy?" And that was a better bad economy 😂
gulman's "how the states got their abreviations" is so perfect
Nice use of a sky-comma.
What a cool, real fellow. Never heard of him, but glad Seth introduced us!
You are in for a treat, one of my favorite comics working today!
If you haven't heard Gary Gulman's bits on the Grape, Fig Newtons, and Finding $20, Naming the States, etc you are missing out. The dude is very funny.
Also, his bits about the milkman and "in this economy?!" have always been some of my favorites 😁
Grapes, cookies, the Discman, Karate Kid, and my favorite of his: alarm clocks. (“Hey, buddy. Whaddya… whaddya, sleepin’?”)
Oh man, Grapefruit is hilarious!!!
His bit on the Old and New Testaments is his best IMO. “Christianity….tremendous spinoff.” 😂😂
The alarm clock is brilliant
Seth and Gary shirts - “Who Wore it Better?”
I pumped my fist in the air when I saw him in "Joker." It's nice to see a gentle person thrive in a tough industry.
Absolutely love Gary Gulman! so brilliant!
the fact that people remember Gary's jokes by their tittle says a lot about what an amazing joke writer he is
Gulman - you are the best!
4:56 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
hilarious and Seth with the reassuring reply “yea yea yea” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
How did this crowd not crack up at “how much for the whimsy?” I was laughing so hard
Knew some of his bits for a while but never followed him. That has changed in the past months and I hope I'm not an exception among those who slept on him. Awesome dude.
Incredibly funny, AND a Rush fan! OMG.
LOVE GARYGULMAN!!!!
I hope you get al the good in this world Gary, God bless you dude 🙋🕊️
I’d never seen this guy before (I’m in the UK and don’t get out much) but after that book, and the stories, I’m more than a little bit in love. 🥰 😂 Harpy (sic) Hanukkah x
I love how he looked straight down the barrel into the camera when we was talking about the all the comedians posting their crowd work on social media
Ending with "I hope they are well" is SO Gary Gulman like! Good story, sorry about that flight.
I love anyone who admits publicly that they have clinical depression cuz most ppl do but no one talks abt it
I always wanted to be an author growing up, so good for him for sticking to his dreams.
An adorable man. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love me some Gar!! His bit about finding a $20 in an old coat pocket is hilarious! “My plans changed…”😂😂😂
I did kindergarten twice even though it turned out well for me I always lived with the stigma of being held back. It helps me to know I'm not alone. Btw I was picturing a four slicer. Love you Gary see you in salt lake on Friday
Gary Gilman is a great standup comedian.
@peterg5383 He's arguably better in most ways.
If you like Gilman, wait till you hear about this dude Gulman.
I like Gary Gooooooooolhombre
Seth standing on his tippy toes to hug Greg is adorable. 1:00
Greg? You mean: Gary?
My favorite stand up comic! So excited for his new special!
What a gentle and effective interview by Seth of a man who has clearly been through it.
Wow. Gary Gulman would make a great heckler. Who knew?
I want a copy of The Lonely Tree! An exact copy, butcher paper and all!
Gary’s state abbreviation bit is one of my favorite of all time.
Omg he's such a craftsman...I looked for that documentary for weeks!!!
Me too. It's so clever.
Yup, I also love "I found a $20 in an old coat".
I really wanna read that book. (I mean the first grade one, but the other one's probably good, too.)
This guy is genuinely charismatic
"I'm a big Rush fan." YAY! Love you and them.
I never got held back a grade, but I did a Summer School or two! LOL!
Used to roll my eyes when my Dad would drone on about his glory days in high school... this dude reachin' back to the Sun-up reading club.
I noticed he at first went for Seth's version of "comfort plus" seating before squeezing into the chair😂
A thrice weekly sale sounds like a steal.
I love Gary. What a treasure.
god I love him... I'm going to rewatch hiw 50 state names bit right now
A modern Dangefield.
Fun stuff.
Peace on earth.
Gary: Thank you for having me back!
Seth: I am always so lovely to talk to you.
I read this at the exact right moment in the video - thanks for the laugh
Neil Peart, one of the greatest drummers ever, wrote most of the RUSH lyrics. RIP Neil.
You mean "the" cabinet 🤣
PS- I think you should go further and change the bit to a single slice toaster and say "yeah and I bet you didn't even know they made those... yadda yadda"
Love the Gul!
Seems like he would be good in a TV show, a kind of adult Charlie Brown, a guy who never wins but is always happy.
I watched this when it aired and his comment about Rush "Subdivisions" struck. I love Rush too but that song was personal to me as a young Gen X, trying to figure out where I fit just as he said.
He's so quick and subtle the audience doesn't even realize that he's killing.
Gotta be the best interview I've seen with Seth. Love it
Gulman coming for Matt Rife with the tiktok crowd work 😂
Telephone 1.0 is one of my favorite bits ever. Thank you Gary.
The greatest of Gary’s
This is a grinder. Respect.
Coffee, the only thing that makes life tolerable. ☕️😏
One of the best comedians working today.
A new special AND a new book? Damn, Gary is killing it productivity wise in 2023.
"Their 40 percent off sales, which they run thrice weekly."
If life was fair Gary would have a Porsche collection and Seinfeld would have a two-slice toaster.
Gary's awesome
He’s so tall he makes Seth look like an elf.
❤❤❤ Gary Gulmam
Gary's wife is the real mvp 🤩
Have you watched The Great Depresh? She's the 🐐 of love lol!
Just brilliant!
Rush lyrics are so amazing we all remember the lyrics/ even some English Literature classes use Rush lyrics/A Canadian Treasure known more in the U$A...
RUSH

HAHAHA cuz that is DEFINITELY what he is!! Gorgeous!!!
Popes are Catholic.
Gary Gulman 4evr ❤
I once almost crashed my car due to his bit about youth basketball (and the fathers) because i was laughing so hard I was in tears.
"The guy who player Jerry on Seinfeld"
I love that they hugged when Gulman came on. Zero toxic masculinity on that show.
My 12 toasters are all on upper shelves; I hate toast.
FUNNY!
what a funny guy
Hey! Wasn’t expecting Tribe Called Quest lyrics at the end of the video 🥹
Oreo has never read my diary. however, one time my mother-in-law came over to watch our children while my husband and i went off for the weekend on a trip. when we returned home, the first thing she said was, "do you even have a toaster?"
i keep it in the cabinet; where it belongs.
