New corvette has a "torque key" that prevents full power till the car is driven 500 miles /800Km. That could be why you thought it wasn't 0 to 100Km in 3 seconds

Yeah thats a neat excuse. When TopGear in England finally got hold of a C8 recently and tested it, they found the 0-60 to be closer to 4.2 And that was with a 120 000 Euro optioned out car. With the Z51 performance pack.
And then TopGear proceeded to explain how america traditionally cheats. First... Its supposed to be 0-62. Not 0-60. Because 62 mph is 100 kmh. So they shave off a tenth or two on that. Then they start the car 1 car length away from the timer. So the car is already moving when the timer starts.
And finally... When GM quotes these numbers, they do it on a drag strip which is so sticky that you will lose your shoes walking across it. With pre-heated tyres and a can of trackbyte sprayed on each wheel.
Either way... We all know a Corvette wont do below 3 seconds because thats what a Porsche GT2 RS and a Ferrari 812 will do. And those are FAR better cars in every possible way. And they will do those numbers in real life, all day. Not just in american wet dreams.
See... Patriotism and flagwaving may go a long way over in the US. But falls a bit flat to the ground over in the real world.

Lots of tech in this car! The one feature that really impressed me is the GPS based raising and lowering of the car. Meaning, if there is a high drive way you need to pull into do, you can program the GPS location and the car will automatically raise itself before you pull in.
That is a very cool feature.
I love adding even more tech like installing Smart Active system with my new airfoil from Victor racing!

Love the new C8. I’ve got one in my garage. Couple of things. The camera that records the track and dash camera is in front of the rear view mirror, not the front parking cameras. 0-100 time fro Chevrolet is 7.1 Sec and the 0-60 is 2.8 Sec.
I believe the car you where driving has the GT3 seats which are the track seat. The GT2 seat is much more comfortable and track worthy. The GT1 seat which is the base seat is very comfy but not as much support for the track.

@@burgerbandit3646 There is more than one class amongst the array of mid-engine cars you speak of. From naturally aspirated, boosted or charged, to cylinder count, to weight, etc. I’ve said nothing wrong here 😑.

I think what you’re not understanding is that a MR2 isn’t in the same class as a Pagani despite both being mid engine cars. You would never put them together. Instead you would put cars closer to the same specs together(thus class). You’re trying to say putting a Lamborghini on track with an F1 car are the same because they’re both mid engine cars, but they aren’t. Despite the Lamborghini being a supercar the F1 is still faster with a smaller engine because it’s in a whole different class. 😆 🤷🏽♂️

Thanks for covering the vehicle. I prefer the new look as you requested feedback on that aspect of the car. I would like to point out that Chevrolet advertised zero to 60 in 2.9 seconds. The car has launch control, which helps with achieving that time. There are so many UA-cam videos out there about the car that would have helped with coverage of the car. The car was based on a fighter jet concept. The cockpit layout is perfect for me. The approximately 45 degrees to see the buttons is adequate. Other vehicles are designed much worse. There is so much more to the car like head up display, blind spot monitoring, cross traffic warning in the rear, front end lift, magnetic ride, Z51 performance package, and the list goes on. Chevrolet will add more horsepower and features to later versions like the Z06, possibly a Grand Sport, E-Ray, ZR1/ZORA version. Buttons and controls are not distracting and I can vouch for that one. Range Rover Sport, yes it is distracting. Mercedes S Class is sweet and the Stingray is sweet as well. I think Chevrolet hit a home run with this car. Like Hot Dogs and Apple Pie on the 4th of July!!! Riding off in freedom!!!

Just wait until they come out with the next models.. I’d be willing to bet that they will outrun nearly all super cars for half the price. Z06 will be insane and zr1 will be running with the fastest in the world

Well done Alex. The Corvette has always lived on the fringes or sports car & muscle car. However I think going mid-engine, dual clutch etc... clearly signals that we are now in sports car territory. And no question with the type of performance it now delivers it is clearly a supercar. I always considered the C2 a supercar of it's day.

Some of the first C8's have already been upgraded with turbo's it would be nice to have a Z06 twin turbo with 750 - 900 rwhp.

A lot of people by me are getting rid of their stingray after less than a year of ownership. Read the reviews before you go with a C8.

Love the new C8. I think the seats are adjustable, so you have to dial them in. My C6 is only a 2LT and it has adjustable seats. I can make it too small for me and I’m not a big guy 170lbs, but they open up and can handle bigger people. That being said, even my C6 has a small cabin.
The C8 looks pretty good on video and in pictures, but it looks fantastic in person. I prefer the convertible to the coupe, but targa tops are nice. That’s what I have now. Latest news on the C8 is the Z06 with a different engine. 5.3L flat plane crank, normally aspirated with a 9k redline. 600+hp and around 500 tq ( I can’t remember the exact numbers) Can’t wait to see the Z06. Rumor has it that a full electric is in the works.
As an American the corvette was and still is America’s premier “Sports Car” the Chevy Camaro and Ford Mustang are slotted as muscle cars good review anyway Ms strawberry Blondie ha ha

I agree with her mostly. My C8 is great from a dig, and to get the 2.8-2.9 0-60 you have to use launch control. I did a run in mine and it definitely feels like you get there in a couple seconds. But truthfully the car runs out of balls after about 70mph. Not that it matters to me though, I don’t race often and bought the car cause I like it. The GT2 seats are the way to go. And I’m glad she kept it real on the prices! There’s an easy 40% mark up to get one unless your sitting on the wait list- and have an honest dealer.

The engine’s torque increases 30% after 500+ miles. That’s why it doesn’t seem like it’ll go 0-60 in 3 secs.
The buttons are easy when drive it a lot, like all cars you learn where they are. Or just use the screen

SCB - I have Rapid Blue Z51HTC 2021Sting Ray and it is the best car ever. Drives better than my Porsche Boxster GTS which as you know is one of the best handling mid engine cars around. The controls have none of the issues you are worried about. All of the controls to your right for heat and air become second nature and are placed perfectly and the driver controls at steering wheel are also perfect. Drive for awhile and you will find out. Superb in every way. You did mention the GPS front end elevation - one of the coolest features.

As an owner of an older Corvette I would say its a giant leap forward. When compared to others in its price class its difficult to beat.

I've wanted a Corvette since 1970, when I was 9. I really didn't like this one seeing it in pictures and video but finally saw one on the road a few weeks ago and was quite impressed.

I get the mid engine, good for GM. The rear of the car looks like they stole it from the Camaro. The price for this performance is unbeatable. You can customize this to look like a supper car. Alex hit it on the nail. It's not a supper car. I think the C7 Z06 is a better looking swagged out machine, especially if you get it in matte black.
This have to take a lot of customers form Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren etc.

I think the center called buttons are just for heating and cooling you can set that like at a light or something and be alright to control your ambient Heating and Cooling in the cockpit
