This orchestration shows exactly why Tchaikovsky's piano writing is so symphonic and easily orchestral in both sound and idea

Magnificent orchestration, beautifully performed. It's hard to find a good orchestration of The Seasons, though the piano version is exquisite.

Absolutely wonderful, love orchestration of the piano works, so much richer. My favorites are June, October, November and December.

the orchestration did well for March and June,a very expressive account indeed for both romantic pieces, brings inner passion and many colors that made them so lyrical

I particularly adore the orchestral version of December.

I don't know much about Alexandr Gauk, but the man could certainly orchestrate. This is a wonderful adaption of a beautiful set of pieces, one which can almost stand as an 'extra' Tchaikovsky ballet.

    Nice music! Thank you!
Tchaikovsky's genius was in melodies, orchestration, harmony and counterpoint that no composer could ever match. The orchestration of his solo piano works, string quartets and other chamber works lack Tchaikovsky 's magic, but they are still nice. The only exception, IMO, is Glazunov's orchestration of "Souvenir d'un lieu cher", only because Glazunov knew how Tchaikovsky would have orchestrated it.

I think that Gauk did a terrific Tchaikovskian orchestration of this. Domi and the orchestra also are terrific here. A gem.

My favorite is June. When I search for this song most are done on piano. This song was never meant to be done on piano. The orchestra provides a much greater range of sound which culminates into a masterpiece!

..very interesting, thankyou for sharing.. it shows me a bit how music composed on the piano is translated to a full orchestra.. and what music, Tchaikovsky is so good.. and the orchestrator here does a good job, i wonder what it'd be like with just strings..

So lovely, and though it is not the work of Tchaikovsky himself, I actually prefer this orchestral version to the one with solo piano. The July theme reminds me a bit of Toselli's Serenata :-)

A nice attempt, but the piano version is more intimate and to me sounds better. I know this is a personal preference.

in my opinion there are some movements that are Beautiful on the piano but also there are some pieces that fit perfectly to an orchestraded version if you know what i mean.

To compare: piano version of the Seasons longs 40 minutes, this orchestra version - 50 minutes. Protracting and boring.
