When I was 20-21, I did my first attempt at powerlifting. Got up to 170 kg deadlift, 90 kg bench and 140 kg squat, but the form on my squat was horrible. This was while just chomping down the chicken breasts and dairy. So she went from sporadic lifting without programming with a focus on trying to be lean and build muscle at the same time to consistent programming without trying to stay lean and instead build muscle in addition to going vegan and resulted in building muscle? This isn't because of the vegan diet, but because of the programming, consistency and methods of food intake (consistent eating without trying to cut down and lean out).

@@muellernikolai8630 I'm not an expert but I lost weight like you, I was eating too much fiber and protein from legumes mainly and not enough carbs and fats. The best thing I can recommend as it worked for me is to eat low fiber proteins like tofu, tempeh, textured vegetable protein, the legumes with least fiber and protein powders as a supplement if you can't reach your daily needs, also eat a lot of pasta (not whole wheat if you're already high in fiber), almonds, pecans and peanuts or their whole butters and seeds like flax or chia. Really, what does it matter why you are plant based? If you’re only eating plants, then everyone benefits, including the animals. If you go further and cut out other animal products, that is definitely great for the animals and the environment to a degree. If everyone went plant based for health reasons only, that would be a huge benefit to the environment and the animals and other animal products would skyrocket in price due to the reduced supply, driving down demand further. A plant based diet I was on for more than 50 years not only did not work it gave me type 2 diabetes. There is no way I would ever do a plant based diet ever again!
I saw her full interview on Vegan LInked. She is still learning because sometimes she craves eggs. I think she has eaten some vegan junk food to stay vegan and that is not going to sustain her long term as a power lifter. I don't think anyone should shame her for her decisions, as long as she stays ethical. If someone has pet chickens, those eggs are ethical. However, if someone has a disease, then being 100% vegan is important. I think in some case, ethics are not the issue but health is. Like there is dairy from no-kill animal sanctuaries where the cows are treated so well. In cases like that, it comes down to health. Raw dairy can still transmit disease and pasteurized dairy still has hormones. Then there are some ethics where some vegans think humans shouldn't use animals at all. That is a very personal view that not all vegans share. Some vegans think it's fine to ride horseback and to work symbiotically with animals. This is why the strictest vegan definition is just centered on a diet that excludes animal products because the ethics are not universally agreed on.
@@gardenbliss6638 Ahh, so it's more a relatively newer idea in her life, so still going through the transition. Which is why she said mostly PLANT BASED and not mostly vegan. Also, being vegan means you don't use animals IN ANY SENSE. If people think using animals in ANY SENSE is okay, they're not vegan. Look up the definition of vegan. Which is another reason I was curious, because she actually spoke about it and its importance. I could careless what 'other vegan's' who don't understand the definition think, until they learn what it truly means.
@@ddpwe5269 I know what some extremists want to define veganism as but watch Jeff Nelson's video on the history of the word vegan and you will see what the original definition was and still is in the eyes of the law. When you go to a grocery store and see the V label, you know it's vegan because it doesn't have animal products. Nothing to do with ethics. I am all for ethics, but they are not universal.
@@ddpwe5269 I assumed "mostly plant based" means she also eats vegan junk food, protein shakes etc. I've been vegan 26 years, and I'd say mostly plant based. I wouldn't consider mock meats and cheeses plant based. Plant based means, or at least used to mean, whole food with no, to very little, processing.
There are plenty of vegan alternatives for leather. For example, vans, adidas and ground lock make excellent lifting shoes that do not have any animal products.
Hey, humanity sucks, but it sucks for a reason, and the shit show continues because of it, things like child abuses, killing, and permanent damages.

Power lifter, no meat? Yeah good luck with that. Next time you put on those leather Nikes remember those poor cows you could have saved. WTF?
A lot of athletes are vegan actually. Look it up if you have some time on your hands ☺️
There are plenty of vegan alternatives for leather. For example, vans, adidas and ground lock make excellent lifting shoes that do not have any animal products. Most powerlifters don't use Nike actually :) It's not a very popular brand among our sport. There are vegan options for all equipment that I need

Total lie.
first words out of a vegans mouth upon meeting them "I;m Veeeeegan"
How many times has this actually happened to you?
Yet , here you are looking at a video about a vegan. Did she come to you and told you she's vegan?
