Great job im a mobile mechanic too. The only frustrating thing is when the customer doesn't pay or takes a while to pay. I won't do work for them again smh
I remember one time I replace the alternator on my wife’s truck. Put the new alternator in and it still wasn’t working. Checked the fuses and it was just a fuse.
I do mobile mechanic in my area, i charge $100 to replace alternator if its easy, if its hard i charge double, just depends how hard the job is, usually most jobs its a set price also.
The battery light on the dash combined with the voltage being around 11 and needing a jump before starting is enough to say it’s not charging. It doesn’t hurt to double check though. I would have just to be safe.
I just replaced an alternator in my 07 camry on the side of I 15 a couple weeks back, wasnt a hard job but I would have liked to do it in a parking lot like this.
I am wanting to start a mobile mechanic business. What do you charge for diagnostics and how do you price your jobs? Just looking for some advice. Thanks for the video.
Not trying to Criticize you but You never ever tighten a power wire You never, ever tighten a power wire On an alternator with power could have damaged. It's the post
@@RoadsideRescue but under normal circumstances mobile mechanic prices nto worth it unless ya get home from work at 9 need a alternator mobile guy gets part at 945 fixed by midnight
@@RoadsideRescue i worked at advance auto recommended a decent mobile guy to put in a radiator in a Camry he charged 1000$ labor i almost lost my job over that cause its only like 1.8 hours labor had to write a ststement as to why i recommended him got suspended without pay till they could prove i wasnt in on the scam what a nightmare
The light is on in the car, so wow.I guess that means a bad alternator. Just because the customer says it's the alternator does not mean it's the alternator. Can we please see a proper diagnosis of a bad alternator? I mean, you really missed a whole lot in that

I've been trying to start my own gig doing this. What's a good minimum for driving out to a customer?

Ernest, you are a very hard worker. The added environmental pressures of working outside are huge, yet you keep pushing through.
I always get my brand new alternators bench tested at the store first. Parts these days are so inconsistent it’s crazy.
this one cant be bench tested is the only thing. has to be tested on car
I agree, been fighting with Volvo and their truck parts, shits ridiculous

@@marte1a256 I've seen alternators fail and blow their (usually mega) fuse so you may still have had a bad alt

I'm raising my prices next year.
Damn Ernest need a haircut. Go fund me guys
Ernest,I'm curious why you didn't put a multi meter on the battery with the engine running to verify no charging?

That jump starter looks exactly like the Matco one
Please do a video daily- I enjoy watching

Roadside Rescue, Very funny video!
Where can I find a umbrella that hooks up under the hood?
Regular Umbrella + Zip Ties.
how is the big truck coming with the new motor?
honestly still waiting on those shafts... trying not to rush them. but ive picked up a couple of projects for the next couple of weeks keep tuned.
Nice way to fry a new alternator is to jump the battery instead of fully charging that dead battery after you changed that alternator.
If it can't handle that sort of load it isn't fit to be in service
I’ve never heard this before, what makes you say that?
So… how much you charge for that repair? Maybe I missed it
depends on the job... but more for the same day
im sure that was just a standard "hour call out"
Two hours of your time equals 200 dollars. Heck that’s about what diagnostic fee would be.
ya id say 100$ an hour average is average... i charge a little less. I don't want to set people up to make less than they should.
didnt even say how much you charged bruh
neck cooler working o.k?
Working good!
