- Bent corners, bend edges, dings, and dirt. All too common with old Fenders from the '60s and '70s.
Here's one way to get things straightened out.

Nice to see some other elec techs addressing mechanical issues on amps. I usually straighten things on the Milling Machine, either in the vice or table - both are ground accurate surfaces. As you have shown, most import thing is proceed carefully and incrementally, you don't necessarily need a MC shop just patience. As usual top shelf work.
Something to look into in place of or addition to WD40 is Renaissance Wax. (apologies if someone else has shilled it to you, before) It was developed by the British Museum for cleaning and conserving leather, wood, and metal items in their care. The wax on a rag or shop towel makes for a very gentle cleaning agent when rubbed on the offending surface while a thin layer wiped on and then rubbed by hand does a ton to protect against oxidation. I'm used to using it on old hand and surveying tools but, given the increasing age and need for conservation of classic amps, I thought it could be a useful addition to your kit.

Yeh. THAT'S a Heaven-A-lot better! 🙂 Right there with you on the paper cuts and hang nails: Drives a guitar player CRAZEE! Antibiotic oint and glycerin (in your hand soap/available at Publix in pharm area) are very helpful, of course.
Good trick to get that nut on the strap bolt on a Fender amp head, that is near the power transformer, is to roll up some transparent tape inside out, stick one side of the roll onto your best left-hand finger, and the nut onto the side of the tape opposite the finger. Attach to bolt. Turn bolt from top, keeping the nut still. Works like a champ. Great video!

The videos that show the "mechanical" side of repair as just as valuable as the "electrical" ones. You seemed almost apologetic while recording this, but the techniques you showed had plenty of good-to-know stuff in them that I'm sure will come in handy for future amp repairs!
There is nothing like a good cleaning, whether it's an amp, a guitar or a motorcycle! Excellent.
I bought a couple of white #47 LED lights for my amps. They come in cool white and warm white. They give a unique look thru the traditional Fender jewels. Not for the traditionalist, but it's nice to change things up once in a while.
I've been seeing some of the old Fender amps on eBay and Reverb and I end up reading the description to see if any work has been done on them. I'm slowly starting to understand what the repair and modification lingo means. Your videos have definitely been the main reason for that. Short video or long, there is still something to learn.

“Out in the sun on the drive” - you have no idea how painful that is for us to hear in the UK this year.
I bet a Harbour Freight arbor press would work just fine for flattening out the faceplate on an amp as well as installing frets and such.

This tool is great for that kind of nut, also used on Gibson pickup selector switches. And it’s a great knob puller.

Machinist vise closes flat . Use paper towels like you do . I’m a Machinist retired . Roller machine works great too but harder to protect surfaces
Yeah, I don’t have space for large tools that would only see occasional use, so no large vise in my future.
I think I’ll buy some larger flat pieces of steel so I can do larger areas at once with the C clamps. That would store easily.
We need 4hrs of you clamping faceplates otherwise the videos will be useless 😂
