I ordered am Odin 7" 9mm barrel last night. Excited to get it on my build, should arrive in a few days. All i need now is a bcg, handguard & buffer. Also waiting for the whole pistol brace crap to hit the fan otherwise I'd have ordered one last night as they were going for $97. I think they want to get rid of stock before they're deemed illegal.
A 12 inch barrel can group just as well if not better at 100 yards then a 16 inch you just loose some velocity on down range with a shorter barrel . A good 12 1/2 inch barrel can get it done out to 300 yards .
Also a heavy barrel does not really equate to an accurate barrel. It makes a barrel that is more resistant to heating effects. Quality, chamber, concentricity, crown, etc mean a lot more. The information shared here is not really completely rooted in facts...
@@mattfleming86 You're looking for an encyclopaedic video, but didn't find it here, maybe because you expect too much. Did you find your encyclopaedia elsewhere on YT? Most barrel makers will tell you that accuracy increases with diameter, and yes, part of the reason is the heat sink factor. Also resistance to flex ("whip") in multi-shot strings of fire. I didn't see the title of this video saying it would cover every aspect of what makes a barrel accurate. Maybe you imagined it?
I have the 20 inch Grendel and it's probably my favorite rifle that I own. Only problem I have with it is that it didn't come with one of those sweet green pens.
why isn't there very many reviews or videos of your guys barrels online? I have 2 of your guys barrels just would like to see some videos of them being used.
There are some different reviews on our barrels. Here is a link to some of those. www.google.com/search?q=odin+works+barrel+reviews&rlz=1C1MSIM_enUS684US684&oq=odin+works+barrel+reviews&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.9007j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 There are also some videos on our barrels on some UA-cam pages of people who review different gun parts. One that has reviewed our barrels before is Sootch00.
Thank you for the video. Could you please help me understand why you don't offer a 20" 223 barrel, and why you only offer a stainless finish? Thank you very much again, I appreciate your help.
For us, there is not enough demand to justify the 20" barrel. The reason why we don't make black barrels is two-fold. The distance to the coating facility would add months on to production time and we can barely keep up with stainless demand.
Steven Bush you need to shop around some more then!! I can get 6.5Grendel for less than $5 a box of 20!! 500 rounds for $125, and I get a much more capable round than the 5.56/223
Is the tunable gas block that comes with the barrel stainless steel or aluminum? I tried to stick a magnet on mine that came with my 20-in Grendel DMR and it didn't stick so I'm wondering if it is stainless steel or aluminum.
After having done some research on 5.56, it seems the extra 2" of the 18" over the 16" don't add much in terms of velocity. What does seem to matter for accuracy, is a thick barrel profile. So, I'm having difficulty finding info on your barrel thickness dimensions. I heard very good things about your 18" DMR barrel and was wondering if you have a 16" barrel with the thick "DMR" profile. So, my question is, does either of the 16" intermediate or mid have the same thickness as the 18" DMR? If not what are the profile dimensions? Are they significantly different?
No, the 16" barrels have the profile dimensions of the 3 gun barrels. You are correct, generally speaking, the heavier profile the barrel the more accurate the barrel. However, all of our 16" and 18" barrels have a 1 moa accuracy guarantee.
ODINWorks Ok, thanks for the reply. Can you tell me the difference in outside diameter? I'm curious whether the difference in OD is significant enough to noticeably change the barrel's heat capacity and thus thermal inertia under rapid fire.
Just ordered one of these bad boys in 223 wylde for my AR15 build. Has anyone experienced any issues with shooting certain ammo brands through Odin works barrels?
@@fame672 Our respond fine to steel case ammo, we run those all the time. Steel case ammo isn't going to get you MOA but it will cycle, run and shoot fine.
Can you please expand on your comment about loss of accuracy with a 5.56 chamber? Do you mean a loss of accuracy when shooting .223 ammo in a 5.56 chamber? Is there a loss of accuracy when using 5.56 ammo in a 5.56 chamber? Frankly I don't see the point of mixing ammunition. Locally the cost of .223 is the same as 5.56 so why would I but .223 to shoot in my rifle chambered for 5.56? Thank you
A 5.56 chamber has a long throat which allows for higher pressures and velocities. This longer throat can lead to a less accurate barrel, so any ammunition, .223 or 5.56, will be less accurate. The .223 Wylde chamber solves this by shortening the throat.
The barrels are not dimpled, but ours don't need to be dimpled because the gas blocks come with cup-point set screws that bite in to the barrel and both the barrel and gas block have an alignment mark to make sure it is installed at the correct position.

Just completed a 6.5 Grendel with a Odin Works barrel and love it. Great product
I only use Odin works on my builds. Superior product and never a problem with accuracy. Nice work thank you.
Thank you for your feedback!
I have an Odin works 16" ultralight barrel and couldn't be happier with it. Very nicely made and shoots really well. I appreciate the videos.
I just bought my son an Odin Works 20 inch barrel and bolt carrier in 6.5 Grendel for his birthday. He is pretty pumped.
Awesome!
Phenomenal tutorial Aaron! Thanks for the awesome vid!
My first AR 15 and my first build will be the same gun. I chose and ordered the Odin 18" Wylde DMR. Damn I'm good.
I just received my 22" 6mm Creedmoor barrel with the +2" XL rifle gas system. I cannot wait to put this rifle together!
Thanks for your business! Let us know what you think!
I was first.
I purchased a nice 8” Odin for my AR-9. The thing looks beautiful and is impressively accurate.
Took my 18 in 223 Wylde dmr barrel out.... Man it's great

Got the 18 inch DMR Barrel.... Man it is nice
Just picked up a 22 inch 6.5 creedmoor upper and am getting ready to try and take it out to 1000 yards next week at my prs match.

It performed exceedingly well!

No 12.7x42(50 Beowulf) barrels?

Will an Odin 18" DMR outshoot my Ballistic Advantage 18" premium? Won't take much.
Aaron 1 inch guarantee with what ammo ? factory match or handloads?
That guarantee would be with factory match ammo.
just need my new free floating hand guard to arrive and my 20 " 6.5 grendel will be done
Can I check the head space with a go gage 556 on them 223 barrels >?

The type of rifling on our 21" 6mm ARC Barrel is 1:75 twist
