Hello Ven Nick, thank you for this message. I remind myself that any negative feelings are a consequence of my thoughts, and I use stillness and affirmations whenever I need to shift my mindset. Everything is what it is, neither positive nor negative. I’m learning that it’s only my mindset that labels any given situation good or bad 🙏
Everything you share is helpful but what help me the most regarding feeling lost is the subtle realization that I haven't anywhere specific to be. Sadhu sadhu sadhu Thank you venerable Nick
you wise word about not beating myself up are words I need to take in. It is my mind set to knock myself down and then stomp on myself for not being perfect enough, smart enough, fast enough and so on. I never miss a moment to berate myself, I am filled with self loathing and self hate. I have felt this and thought this for over 50 years so It will not be easy habit to break. I will take your words to heart and make the effort to change. thank you for all of your videos. Love and may peace prevail
I gave up drinking alcohol 2 yrs ago on xmas. It completely changed my life for the better. It was difficult and still at times challenging as my routines completely changed but I found my true passion for life again. Thx Venerable Nick! I love your videos, they really help me too and I hope your doing well!
I wanted to go to your retreat centre but sadly I couldn’t get approval by the authorities to travel. I will wait till later next year to try again. Like what you have shared. No use beating myself or others. Just let it be and when the time is right, I would be able to go. 🙏🏼
Thank you from the bottom of my heart 💜…. . Live with no regrets, try everything! Say yes to opportunities. Be courageous. Knowing what I don’t want or like is equally as important as finding passions. Nobody ever died from uncomfortable… I try new things at least 3X before I decide if it’s for me. EG : dancing … finally found a style I love after many attempts at classes. Believe in yourself… May joy and contentment follow you ❤️☀️🌸
I really needed to hear this, thank you. i have just graduated uni in October and im starting my first job thats actually related to my degree in 2 weeks, but i cant say im as overjoyed as i thought i would be. I started thinking back to my previous life choices and thought maybe i would have had a more secure life path if i didnt choose music, and now im stuck on this unpaved (and somewhat thorny) pathway and i dont know if it will lead to something beautiful or absolutely nothing at all. Thinking about all of this got me really stuck in my own head and made me feel really insecure and lost and honestly hopeless, i even pondered if i would be better off not being here at one point recently, however this video gave me a sense of peace. While this is still a path i must walk alone, it makes my heart feel full to know that while im walking it alone, there are others who are also paving their own path in life facing similar challenges, and hopefully we can all triumph in the end. Thank you again for this video.
This makes me feel like these past years haven’t been wasted. Even if I have been all over the place, I have just been checking things off the list of things I want to try, I won’t have regrets in the future. Thanks Ven. Nick 🙏🏼
Thank you! I am 53 year old, so I can't be a monk { I wish I could} but I still love Zen/Buddhist/Catholic {and meditation, pray and art}. Peace Corp is a another idea. This is my 3th month as a meditation/stroke/exercise person. Talk wise, I have an small speech impediment, but everything else is fine { movement is awesome and writing is good}. Financially, unsure. Thank you for the thoughts. Be safe and take care.😀Thank you again!
I know it's that time of year and all, but it was a relief to see this video. I feel like I've had setback after setback, and I see the people around me getting their lives together. I don't even look at social media anymore so it's purely from good old fashioned real life comparison. lol I feel like when I hit a wall and don't know what to do I try to do new things. In the hopes that maybe one of them will spark something inside and make it a bit easier to keep going. So I was glad to see that was one of the topics. I've studied a bit about Buddhism and Stoicism. It amazed me how despite originating from different sides of the Earth that there was still some overlap. In an increasingly modern world it felt reassuring to know some of these concerns are thousands of years old. One thing I was struggling to wrap my head around is the purpose of suffering that doesn't have a clear purpose. I understand that knowing suffering can increase empathy for others. But at the same time it's like how am I supposed to hold space for them when I'm trying to get the leaks out of my own ship? I try to remind myself that failure is going to happen eventually. That a lot of people have failed before succeeding. Maybe I'm looking for a sign that I'm on the right track?
permission from Bhante.... Knowing/understanding the suffering is majorly for your liberation. Caring, sympathy for others..... just arise as side effects. When you know pain and if you are becoming enlightened, you automatically develop sympathy for others. This quality will not need any space from your mind. You will not need to water that plant, it will grow by itself
I never feel like i am alone. I feel my internal light is always there with me. I also have my pets who never judge and show kindness to me as i do to them.
Proverbs 18:1 says: “Whoever isolates himself pursues his own selfish desires; he rejects all practical wisdom. The presence of God is daily prayers in your every day life. Psalm 91. Yes!! Trying everything is so important! I spent my whole life thinking a certain career was for me because it involves everything I’m passionate about. But the reality of the work, especially since I was doing it independently, was far more intense and energy draining than I ever imagined. Now I’m assessing either doing it as a hobby, which removes the pressures that I didn’t like, and the other portion maybe teaching again, but differently. I prefer flow so I’m changing careers into a field I was experimenting with when the other career was picking up. Never thought I would let go of what I worked towards and in my whole adult life! But it’s in trying new activities too that I’ve learned to integrate those too. Very important lesson!
Teacher. 27/12. Back to basic. I can run now. But I need to be mindful. Be careful. I am not slow. I am going for discovery. It is hard to find self. World see a value to what is successful what is desirable. Is it for me? I do not know. I do know I want peace. I want o know me. I want to know if my emotional support is not here with me, I will still be joyful and inner radiance. I am my own happiness. So more to learn about self. Be patience my heart ❤️ Transference of merit to Teacher. Thank you for Teacher kind words. Thank you Teacher for encouragement. Thank you Teacher for the reminder. Sadhu sadhu sadhu.
Ditto this helps too with a new job I have that is great pay but high pressure and not loving it money or not….maybe I have to look for the golden nuggets like he said to get to where I want to be.
Thank you. I really enjoy your videos. Its very interesting to want to teach about suffering. Yes it sounds strange but its a topic that most of the problems in life we have is our root cause. A subject we don't talk about enough. 💯👌🏾
Sadhu ka 🙏 You’re such a treasure. It’s not creepy that you like teaching about suffering. We’re needed at this time of turmoil. Thank you from bottom of my heart 🙏🙏🙏

I feel like your video was made specifically for me, Venerable Nick. This is where I am in my life currently. I have tried many paths but have always compared my progress to others which discouraged me greatly. Thanks to you, I have learned to pay closer attention to the "breadcrumbs" of each experience instead of writing each experience off as a failure.
Thank you so much! Always very inspiring :) Sometimes I feel like I have lived many lives, and yes, the feeling of failure comes easily. But when a friend asked me if I were to die tomorrow I would be satisfied, in a way I say yes, because after all I have had the opportunity to live those many lives.

I could never express in words how grateful I am for you and how much I appreciate your teachings. I'd be lost without you. Been feeling very lost lately with kids grown and finding my path. You just helped me reground. Blessings to you
It's nice of you to make this video. All of your suggestions are much easier said than done. Life is mostly suffering, misery and dissapointment. It's also somehow an illusion. It's so hard to overcome the maya, glamour and illusion your mind subjects you to. At least being a monk, you are evolving out of this cesspit of a world.
Revision day - 4/1/24. Teacher. Thank you for this timely reminder. Learning to talk kindly and clearly like Teacher. Learning to emulate like Teacher to approach life with an open heart. Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu ❤
Thank you for your kindness and loving message. You had a good life like dancer and therapist and you quit everything and now you are a monk. I love your psth. Thank you so much

Wonderful. Thank you indeed, Ven. Nick, for once more encouraging with your deep experience and natural love. A happy new year to all of you at the monastery ! 💖
I think a lot of people will appreciate this advice. I know I'm at a lost point in life, not the first one. lol I think its a lot more unexpected at this particular age. It probably happens a lot more than it's discussed. This topic should be explored more.🙏✨🍃Thankyou for shedding light on this topic.☀️I know it's not something easy to discuss w most people.
Thanks Mr Nick for sharing your contents, but one thing which arise in my mind is about eliminating doubts. In this world doubt is the one thing which saves us and guides us, it will irritate inside of us but it is the quest to the truth, thank you.
Thank you so much for the tips. I like to watch every video you post and help me more clarity bout how to handle different situations I encounter in my life. Appreciated very much ❤
Hi Nick! Always good to see you!! Can you give us some advice on trust? How to trust? How to balance our inner insecurities as it pertains to trusting other people. How to manage fear...like the fear of someone betraying your trust. What are your thoughts on that? Thank you my friend! 🙏🏻🤍

I needed to be reminded. Thank you Nick. ❤

Happy new year! Thank you so much 😊
Thanks Mr Nick for sharing your contents, but one thing which arise in my mind is about eliminating doubts. In this world doubt is the one thing which saves us and guides us, it will irritate inside of us but it is the quest to the truth, thank you.
Attempt to find doubts usefulness - truth, can only occur where so ever error is left freed to correct it.
You’re welcome
