you can kinda tell they went different directions with revive mechanics after aatrox. Aatrox could jump into a fight without worry as long as he had ult because of the automatic revive. Akshan revives an ally in base after the ally dies and he kills the killer, and Renata only gives 3 seconds and needs a takedown within that time to fully revive. Revives have become more situational in newer champions and it is fine since there is counterplay but aatrox had none other than running away until ult expired.

I like how half of the things mentioned/shown in the video isn't on live Aatrox anymore. 1. When casting The Darkin Blade (Q) in normal cast mode the cast line looked much more appealing and more accurate than what it is in live currently. 2. Whenever Aatrox casts Infernal Chains (W) the outer thing would light up bright and now it's just a weird box that doesn't even look cool and plus in the video it looks like his Infernal Chains acts twice as faster than the live lvl 5 Infernal Chains. 3. Umbral Dash (E). When he was announced and came out people complained about his dashes and how he actually had a hard time sticking to his opponents with the dashes, but goody old shoes riot loves to listen and does the opposite of what was required. Now it's a 7 second dash at early levels so good luck keeping up with your combos unless the enemy is a bot or is actually bad at the game. 4. Umbral dash passive healing was actually so bad that he had very minimal healing before getting Death's Dance. Now that's been removed and honestly it majorly didn't affect him at all because the healing was trash in the first place and hardly noticeable. 5. He had a different auto animation when hitting a tower, it looked so bad that they got rid of it, 2 patches later it got replaced with his normal basic attack animations. 6. His ultimate World Ender would actually make Aatrox bigger, now it only gives Aatrox chicken wings which I think are edible so you can feed your opponents. 7. When casting World Ender (R) there used to be music playing for the remaining duration for the ultimate, sadly that got removed maybe one week later. 8. When pressing CTRL 5 Aatrox enables or disables his wings if they were enabled. But I don't understand why does it have to be so clunky when enabling and disabling the wings like when you first enable the wings he does 2 skips while walking or jumps in place if standing still and then the wings appear out of nowhere 4 seconds later or if the wings are disabled they just disappear like my dad 3 seconds later, they could've made it like Project Vayne ctrl 5 helmet toggle, Kaisa's helmet toggle and DJ Sona skin toggle. Riot could've gave Aatrox more time before releasing him. I think we all know that Riot is not proud with this rework and giving him another one or reverting him would look bad so they just made sure that at least he's playable until he was nerfedd to the ground again.
I know I here too late to actually contribute to the movement that once existed with its purpose being to revert Aatrox, I am now here to try and resurrect it. This "new" (2 years old already) Aatrox is not Aatrox and I need og Aatrox back. I still can't get over the fact that I will never play Aatrox again!

Jair Artis Yeah..because his old kit sucked. Plain and simple. I liked him but outside of damage he didn't add much to a team comp outside of a slow with his e and a wonky knock up with his q. If he won lane he was a monster..if he lost he was useless.
People did the same for Yorick and Aurelion Sol, even though the latter wasn't even released yet (they have no concept of concept art and that ideas change over time).
irelia was a solo splitpusher before her rework that could 1v1 almost anyone during midgame, now she is a skirmish/team fight oriented hero that thrives in the late game. they completely changed her identity and thats what made it a bad rework
Being that Aatrox was considered unhealthy to the game he needed a full scale rework on his abilities. This may not be the old Aatrox, but that's intentional. Riot don't want the same mistake to be repeated.
I am very upset by the rework... I was once 4th most played Aatrox player in the world, I played countless hours on Aatrox and I now have literally 0 interest in playing this clunky, linear champion. It feels like the kit of riven mixed with the slowness and kiteability of mordekaiser... in a vid 4 days ago riot’s rework team states they want to ensure the essence of the champion is retained so players who main the champ won’t drop them, well I’m dropping Aatrox now after playing him literally since release. Old character design was much better and way more original. Two iconic parts of it were the bending and extending almost organic-looking sword/whip and his wings that look like blood-red banners on his back. Both were perfect for his theme as a darkin warlord. His new model feels like a generic plastic toy based on some generic demon. It's extremely boring.
Feels like they really trying to make champs look more generic. And idk why? They still have awesome arts and concepts for them while character is in development but hte end result of like last 2 years are always the most boring and generic version.

Maybe because he was reworked at the right moment he became relevant in both solo queue and pro play after a long time, or maybe because his personality and lore was changed. Personally I liked old Aatrox, but I enjoy reworked one a lot more. His combos are satisfying and in terms of character he's a lot deeper than some people think.
I think aatrox ( yes im talking about the new one ) is overall one of the best designed *champions* of all time. However, i do believe that, at the same time, its the worst *rework* of all time. His kit, story, design, just everything about him is amazing, but if you compare the old aatrox to the reworked one, he isn’t anything like his old version and riot didnt preserve any of his gameplay. He went from a playstyle similar to tryndamere, to a playstyle similar to riven.
With some reworks it feels like a big part of the old champ goes missing with aatrox they solved this issue, by just having the whole old champ go missing instead
Old Aatrox wasn't the best champ, but he was fun to play and had his moments. His W was unique spell in the game. His voice sounded way better before, he now sounds like madman. His visual update is also terrible. His new W is useful in bronze elo only, his E is even worse. His only source of dmg is his Q and it's so hard to hit it. Plus it has 15 sec cooldown so if u miss it, what stops enemy champion from rekting u ? What have u done Riot ???
I played a lots and lots of old Aatrox (First bought champion on my main account). These salty meta dogs say they ruined him but I actually prefer the reworked version. More fun and more skill expressive champion.

They might have their reasons but I hate when they change champion 's nature like they did with Poppy and Sion 1 poppy from assassin to tank 2 sion from fighter/mage to vanguard 3 Even the mini rework of the reworked Galio is trash...Tank Galio was waaaay better.
i play this game since season 2. Aatrox old kit simply didn't work: if boosted could be the strongest champ in the game without counter play, if nerfed the worst one. they could not balance him right without creating a binary scenario where you had to play a specific champ only to have a chance (in fact, only jax could win againsta a buffed and strong aatrox). this rework it's ok: more easily to balance, more character focused and let's be honest, Aatrox had a miningfull play ratio.
I recognize that part of the community wished for a reworked Aatrox, but another part honestly kinda didn't. I think it would've been a better middle ground to just release another champion with these same abilities with perhaps some lore connection to Aatrox (his brother, his partner/ally, his rival, etc. ...), and leave the old Aatrox in the game too. I would greatly enjoy being still able to play with both.
AtricosHU old aatrox had problems in his kit, making him hard to balance or counter. Community cries if they rework champions and cries too if the game is not balanced lul

@@ThicFig No revive, his W had two forms with form 1 taking Hp for extra damage every 3rd auto, and 2 giving him Hp every 3rd auto. His Q was instead a jump in a short range similar to Galio. His E wasnt a dash but instead 2 lines that narrowed and dealt damage. His ult was similar to how it is now but had more buffs.
Every rework, that is really just a complete new champion, is a slap in the face of the champion's dedicated players. One of the main reasons I stopped playing this game. Riot just deleted what was important for me in the game, time after time again, until it didn't feel like the game I fell in love with anymore.

I like how half of the things mentioned/shown in the video isn't on live Aatrox anymore.
1. When casting The Darkin Blade (Q) in normal cast mode the cast line looked much more appealing and more accurate than what it is in live currently.
2. Whenever Aatrox casts Infernal Chains (W) the outer thing would light up bright and now it's just a weird box that doesn't even look cool and plus in the video it looks like his Infernal Chains acts twice as faster than the live lvl 5 Infernal Chains.
3. Umbral Dash (E). When he was announced and came out people complained about his dashes and how he actually had a hard time sticking to his opponents with the dashes, but goody old shoes riot loves to listen and does the opposite of what was required. Now it's a 7 second dash at early levels so good luck keeping up with your combos unless the enemy is a bot or is actually bad at the game.
4. Umbral dash passive healing was actually so bad that he had very minimal healing before getting Death's Dance. Now that's been removed and honestly it majorly didn't affect him at all because the healing was trash in the first place and hardly noticeable.
5. He had a different auto animation when hitting a tower, it looked so bad that they got rid of it, 2 patches later it got replaced with his normal basic attack animations.
6. His ultimate World Ender would actually make Aatrox bigger, now it only gives Aatrox chicken wings which I think are edible so you can feed your opponents.
7. When casting World Ender (R) there used to be music playing for the remaining duration for the ultimate, sadly that got removed maybe one week later.
8. When pressing CTRL 5 Aatrox enables or disables his wings if they were enabled. But I don't understand why does it have to be so clunky when enabling and disabling the wings like when you first enable the wings he does 2 skips while walking or jumps in place if standing still and then the wings appear out of nowhere 4 seconds later or if the wings are disabled they just disappear like my dad 3 seconds later, they could've made it like Project Vayne ctrl 5 helmet toggle, Kaisa's helmet toggle and DJ Sona skin toggle.
Riot could've gave Aatrox more time before releasing him.
I think we all know that Riot is not proud with this rework and giving him another one or reverting him would look bad so they just made sure that at least he's playable until he was nerfedd to the ground again.

Old aatrox was boring and half of his voicelines were the same voiceline just slightly different. The new Aatrox is obnoxious for a reason in his lore and hes a far more interesting than "blah war death war war death i like war death i kill people"

But honestly he’s so different now I wouldn’t blame you Aatrox mains for being angry.
- He’s no longer a Diver/Skirmisher but a Juggernaut.
- He’s no longer auto attack Focused
- All of his basic abilities have been removed without even bringing a semblance of them over (I guess the third Q and E lifesteal is the closest)
- he’s mid range instead of close range

Jair Artis Yeah..because his old kit sucked. Plain and simple. I liked him but outside of damage he didn't add much to a team comp outside of a slow with his e and a wonky knock up with his q. If he won lane he was a monster..if he lost he was useless.
People did the same for Yorick and Aurelion Sol, even though the latter wasn't even released yet (they have no concept of concept art and that ideas change over time).
irelia was a solo splitpusher before her rework that could 1v1 almost anyone during midgame, now she is a skirmish/team fight oriented hero that thrives in the late game. they completely changed her identity and thats what made it a bad rework
Being that Aatrox was considered unhealthy to the game he needed a full scale rework on his abilities.
This may not be the old Aatrox, but that's intentional. Riot don't want the same mistake to be repeated.
I am very upset by the rework... I was once 4th most played Aatrox player in the world, I played countless hours on Aatrox and I now have literally 0 interest in playing this clunky, linear champion. It feels like the kit of riven mixed with the slowness and kiteability of mordekaiser... in a vid 4 days ago riot’s rework team states they want to ensure the essence of the champion is retained so players who main the champ won’t drop them, well I’m dropping Aatrox now after playing him literally since release. RIP sweet prince you will be missed..

Actually riven 2.0
Old character design was much better and way more original. Two iconic parts of it were the bending and extending almost organic-looking sword/whip and his wings that look like blood-red banners on his back. Both were perfect for his theme as a darkin warlord. His new model feels like a generic plastic toy based on some generic demon. It's extremely boring.

Maybe because he was reworked at the right moment he became relevant in both solo queue and pro play after a long time, or maybe because his personality and lore was changed. Personally I liked old Aatrox, but I enjoy reworked one a lot more. His combos are satisfying and in terms of character he's a lot deeper than some people think.

I think aatrox ( yes im talking about the new one ) is overall one of the best designed *champions* of all time. However, i do believe that, at the same time, its the worst *rework* of all time. His kit, story, design, just everything about him is amazing, but if you compare the old aatrox to the reworked one, he isn’t anything like his old version and riot didnt preserve any of his gameplay. He went from a playstyle similar to tryndamere, to a playstyle similar to riven.

Old Aatrox wasn't the best champ, but he was fun to play and had his moments. His W was unique spell in the game. His voice sounded way better before, he now sounds like madman. His visual update is also terrible. His new W is useful in bronze elo only, his E is even worse. His only source of dmg is his Q and it's so hard to hit it. Plus it has 15 sec cooldown so if u miss it, what stops enemy champion from rekting u ? What have u done Riot ???

i play this game since season 2. Aatrox old kit simply didn't work: if boosted could be the strongest champ in the game without counter play, if nerfed the worst one. they could not balance him right without creating a binary scenario where you had to play a specific champ only to have a chance (in fact, only jax could win againsta a buffed and strong aatrox). this rework it's ok: more easily to balance, more character focused and let's be honest, Aatrox had a miningfull play ratio.
I recognize that part of the community wished for a reworked Aatrox, but another part honestly kinda didn't. I think it would've been a better middle ground to just release another champion with these same abilities with perhaps some lore connection to Aatrox (his brother, his partner/ally, his rival, etc. ...), and leave the old Aatrox in the game too. I would greatly enjoy being still able to play with both.
AtricosHU old aatrox had problems in his kit, making him hard to balance or counter. Community cries if they rework champions and cries too if the game is not balanced lul

His Q was instead a jump in a short range similar to Galio.
His E wasnt a dash but instead 2 lines that narrowed and dealt damage.
His ult was similar to how it is now but had more buffs.

Every rework, that is really just a complete new champion, is a slap in the face of the champion's dedicated players. One of the main reasons I stopped playing this game. Riot just deleted what was important for me in the game, time after time again, until it didn't feel like the game I fell in love with anymore.
