@@swkenny Unfortunately Liverpool's last handful of league games were largely meaningless, whereas United were gunning for the title until the last day. In my view that made all the difference.
Dave, fantastic job as alwyas with these uploads. Its interesting no matter the era, once Liverpool get into their passing rhythm, they often outplay Manchester Utd at Old Trafford. Happened in 1990 and who can foget a few months ago with the 0-5 scoreline?
@@lordsummerisle3139 That might be the case. Fergie also did well at Anfield in periods. But Manchester Utd play a slightly different game, more fast tempo, going for the throat quick. Liverpool were more slick in their approach. It made for an interesting contrast in styles.
I appreciate the explanation thankyou. I love watching these matches. Yes, unfortunately I don’t watch it. Maybe you could post another without the score? Dan
Thanks for the upload! good performance this, remember being pissed that we didn't get all 3 points that day, United stole a point. Have to say the game is on another level technically these days compared to the 90's, sometimes you forget until you watch these back. A 50/50 penalty saves their ass, after being completely played off the park in front of their own pissed off fans, whilst our 50/50 call gets waved away. Yeah, the Fergie days. Also never noticed they let the grass grow & didn't have the balls to water the pitch before the game, look how slow & clunky it is & Fowler before the injuries was some player! Such a shame, he would have been one of our best.
Much more exciting back then in my opinion. Much more diversity in goals. Today every game seems like a 5 a side and most goals are either on the break or a 5 a side pull back. Give me a JB cross and Aldo volley or a McMahon 30 yarder any day.
@@randyborstol2491 Personally I appreciate all areas of football equally it's just the game has evolved into what it is now. I know what you mean but you still get a 30 yard screamer or a great volley, those type of goals still happen, it's just that there's so little margin for error nowadays because there is so much at stake with all the money that's involved in the game now & teams have to be so precise & clinical.
@@DaveWallerLFC Yeah, still got it. Had a lot of games from this time and late 80s too. Still got old portable TV with built in video player to play them on.
i remember this game very well...and even being a liverpool fan...watching cantona return from his ban....l knew man utd were going to come out on top as champions that season of 95/96
We were evens that season. A win, a draw and a defeat. You took a point from Old Trafford thanks Fowler’s individual brilliance and could have gotten all 3 had Jamie Redknapp not clumsily conceded a penalty which led to Cantona’s equaliser from the spot. At Anfield, we got our asses handed to us as we were outclassed and outplayed and were rightfully beaten 2-0. The score could have been worse if not for Peter Schmeichel keeping out Collymore and co from adding to Fowler’s brace. Fowler once again proved to a thorn in our side when he netted the brace, making it 4 goals against United and you took 4 points off us. We finally evened things at Wembley when Cantona individual brilliance lighted up a subdued affair where both teams played too cautiously with only few chances created. A defensive 4-4-2 against a defensive 3-5-2 which made it look it we were both playing 5-3-2. We won 1-0 to clinch our second Double. You got the better of us in the league and we beat you in a major Cup Final so we were evens that season.
Yes, the same game just with out the score in the title for people looking to see it without knowing what the result is. 👍. But this maybe too much so don’t worry
@Dave Waller Can I buy/trade for a copy of this match? I have some matches that may interest you of Liverpool in the 80s and 90s. Full matches, 1080i recordings from re-broadcast. Equally, I'd willing to pay for a full copy of this game.
Hi. I don't sell any footage, but I'd be happy to do a trade if you have anything I want. Please can you send a list of the Liverpool games you have to DaveLFCvideos@gmail.com ? Thanks.
Sly sports commentary towards United is a biased it’s unbelievable I remember the crap Blackburn went through the previous season when they were going for the title anything to help United and the referee was shocking again
As per the description, both Utd goals were blocked for copyright reasons but the action replays are included. I know it's not great, but the alternative is not to have the footage at all.
I normally don't but this game was a one-off upload for a request. Some people search using the score if they don't know the year, so it's not clear cut what the best approach is. Sorry if including the score spoiled it for you.
Too many posers in that team to ever have been serious contenders, Mcateer, James, rudddock was just poor standard, rush over the hill, Barnes too, we were so close to breaking the drought though
agree with Ruddock and James but cmon Mcateer was a steady wingback who actually gave a toss and technically he was decent, injuries caught him up but Ruddock was a joke of a player i will never know how a player of that calibre ended up at Liverpool.
Around then and the couple of years before lots of stadiums were being upgraded for euro 96, it was quite common for the work to be going on during the season
@@DaveWallerLFCI am sorry mate. You're right absolutely. I will triyng more clever to comment next time and I will read the youtube descriptions. Two brilliant Robbie Fowler strikes absolute class every time I see that kit I remember those strikes thanks Dave keep them coming mate
Sadly it reminds me of the last match of that season!

Not as bad as them white suits you wore before the match!
💯

That Andy Cole overhead would have been one of the greatest made goals ever at Old Trafford
Thanks for the upload cracking match just a shame about the goals in real time and the copyright thing
Thanks for the upload, Always wanted the full match with original commentary.
The power Robbie Fowler cud get with his left foot was just bonkers
Brilliant goals them from Robbie Fowler.
love you dave - thanks ALOT for this !!!!

United did the same at anfield throughout liverpools 80s heyday. Didn’t lose there in about 8 years

Never a pen that
You know how important Cantona was to United when the Liverpool interviews are all talking about him.
The fact that it was his first game back after a 9 month ban might also be part of the reason?

Liverpool were awful in 96 final. Loads of talent but man utd had it aswell but will to win was more in that group of players

People who ask questions that are answered in the video description make running a youtube channel unenjoyable, as do the copyright restrictions.
